Has nothing to do with that. Has everything to do with the fact Miami could have got an extra 3rd pick and still selected him at 27.

Reaching for a need. Taking a player that will be okay, but not great.

I'm not jumping up and down about the pick, but now with this upgraded OL I think we can finally see what Tannehill is all about.

the guy was rated as a first or second round prospect, and to some the 6 best olineman in the draft, a draft where lineman are flying off the board left and right. i understand being pissed that we didn't trade down, but at the same time if the dolphins trade back(teams coming up need olineman) and then james goes, then what?

They signed Delmas to play FS, sir. I hope you give better info than that in the Club Section...

What team have you seen with bookends actually do well in the NFL?

Also, Cooks could have taken the pressure off of Tannehill have to hold onto the ball for so long. Essentially doing what a RT is going to do.

I really dont know much about JJ but jesus people... Did you not watch out OL last year? How the F do they not draft a RT with the first pick?

last year the Bears drafted Long in the first and everyone said it was a reach... but the guy played great... that is what you want.. for the players you draft to be players... who cares what round they were suppose to go in?

Sure, if you ignore the fact there were at least four other teams who could use a lot of tackle help before that spot.

Delmas is not the answer at FS. I think he is a downgrade from Clemons personally, especially in the passing game.

OT Cyrus Kouandjio, OT Morgan Moses, and OT Jawuan James were all on the board, and Moses & James were considered 2nd rd grades.

Sure, there is a CHANCE that all of them could be gone by #27. But when our GM reached for James at #19, then he was clearly playing out of fear.

And as it turns out, all 3 of those OTs would have been there at #27.

Most sacked QB in the league and a practically non-existent running game. Not sexy, but not a big surprise either.

"BOTTOM LINE Big, strong, heavy pass protector with good balance, anchor strength and hand use to handle power and speed. Does not affect the run game the same way and almost appears more destined for the left side in the pros. Has instant-starter potential."

YOU KNOW I KIND OF FEEL NUMB It seems that we always have average drafts but this needs to change . I don't think this is the end of the world but we need to have excellent drafts instead of average ones .

the question that I want to know is , will we draft a playmaker at wr , te , and running back . ? I wont mind it if we get a veteran running back . so I will wait until the season starts before I scream for a new gm.

Maybe that says a lot less about James and a lot more about how teams feel about Cyrus and Morgan.

Like I said in the other thread, while I do like the pick, I could be wrong. But anyone spouting that "James would have been there" as fact could only know that if they know how other teams value the prospects at hand.

Case in point -- Not a lot of sites rate Dee Ford or Marcus Smith over Kony Ealy. Yet Ealy has not been picked yet.

Wait. You know i dig you bro, but you saw there draft board and they had the opportunity to make a trade down or take the guy they had rated the highest at that slot, but chose to not trade back, nor take that player? That's a real hard one to buy my man.

Would have been nice to trade down. No one knows what really went down and there was obviously frustration in the war room. It didn't happen. Most people expected this (as its a typical dolphins style pick but Its a starting body with a reach at value. I wonder what EXACTLY happened with the negotiations.

Either way, My favorite part are that the main people complaining about this pick and Hickey, are the exact names most of the board would put on a list of "people whose opinions matter less than jets fans"

Cool, you're a plugged in guy and a great asset to the forum. But I saw the coaches tape from last season and I love the James pick. My question is, if you really saw "the draft board" and it says what you say it said then how'd we end up taking who we took?

the rest of the league is probably laughing at this pick....just like they were laughing when we interviewed Hickey for our GM position, rolling on the floor when we actually hired him, and shaking their heads now.
