I mean it basically comes down to Ennis and Bazz.....and for the love of me I dont understand how Ennis is so much more highly rated than Bazz...I mean as a Heat fan pray for Bazz to slip to 26 (I have seen all the mocks that have him at 26, I believe that is mega value right there)...Bazz much like Cotton stayed all 4 years and their development went through the roof...Ennis went ham in the beginning of the season and faded pretty badly, not to mention was on a loaded team....Bazz WAS the team who btw won the championship...he has great size for a PG, can do it all and most importantly I believe he could step in right away and start playing for you guys...

I've been on the Shabazz train since the word go, and I've also been confused by him reaching us in all the mocks. Which likely means he wont

Anyone who can bring some athleticism and scoring off the bench is fine with me.

If not Melo I'd love Deng as an alternate, he almost fits better but still...Melo...

I wonder if Melo did come if The Heat would operate with a point guard less. Have Lebron bring the ball up and distribute more with less of a scoring burden

If Melo comes to Miami, you have to think Wade becomes the sixth man.

That is not his most famous shot. That's a great shot (the one against Byron Russell), and won a championship for them, but it's the other one that gets played ad nauseam.

Even though I think what Stringer Bell said is likely true, if Oden can contribute that's a pretty nasty lineup.

I don't think there is as big a difference in the talent on Syracuse and uconn as you make it out to be. Uconn regularly churns out nba talent and this past year was lighter for them but there's still at least one first rounder there besides Napier. You're going to see Ennis higher on most boards because he's younger and they're going based on upside. I'd be ok with either but my presence is Ennis because I think he can be a better defender and his length leads to a lot of steals. Napier I think needs to score to be effective. I don't think that about Ennis.

Before I forget: I think the Heat fans here handled it well. Thank you. You know much of the rest of the league is a bunch of haters (self included) and I didn't have to warn or infract anyone so well done. It would have been easy to be upset at everyone else rejoicing at your loss, please keep up the good behavior.

    Live from the Internet.
At this point, if Wade takes the money, I'll understand it. I won't like it, and it will bug me that he woul put himself ahead of the team, but again, the man had done enough for the city of Miami that if he decides to be selfish, I doubt it will affect his long term status in this city.
With that being said, everything he has done has been for the sake of the team, so even though he made some comments recently that might hint at him taking the money, that might just be a guy with some leverage talking.

No doubt, all 3 guys opting out and resigning would be HUGE. HUGE, a complete reset essentially on the rest of the roster.

Li Ning still hasn't come to the US yet. Wade needs to remain relevant until that happens. No way he puts his salary before winning. Winning will unlock a lot more money for him. He can play for another 5 seasons if he takes a paycut, and let the Heat add more talent. Could anyone really see Wade carrying a team to the playoffs?

4 for $55 million seems fair for Wade.

That would take him until he's 36 and add about $15 million more guaranteed.

Could even be talked into going to $60

4 for $55 is way too much IMO. He should take $10-12MM/yr. IMO.

    Easy for you to say.

He doesn't have to do anything and we owe him $42 million the next two years.

The only way to entice him to opt out is to offer a reasonable amount more than that over the new, longer life of the contract. I think as his current team we can go 5 years. so make it 5 for $60, with the lowest numbers the next three years, just like this contract. Sure his contract will suck in years 4 and 5 but so be it.

He's an icon. If 5 years from now his contract is an albatross but we win 2 or 3 more titles in the meantime, I'm good with that

I cant see anyone talking me off the point if wade wants his money let him have it. I honestly feel like he wont take the full money unless lebron tells him he wants to leave.

We don't have to talk you off the point, you can have your opinion on what he deserves but we also don't have to agree.

Bill Simmons was right. What the f**k has Wade sacrificed? He gets to ride the coattails of the best player in the world, play when he wants to, etc etc and so forth.

Maybe he took slightly less money to make this work but so did everyone else. He isn't special. Maybe we "don't win these three titles without Wade" but Wade doesn't win these two titles without Lebron.

He gave up being the best player on his own team and gave up the most money.

And the whole "play when he wants to" thing is such BS. why you are listening to Simmons is beyond me. You're better than that.

Wade would play all 82 games if he could. He doesn't want to sit out and said as much during the year. The team made an organizational decision that they were going to eschew regular season results with a goal of keeping Wade healthy for the playoffs.

And by the way, those Tim Grover workouts (you can find videos of them) are probably more physically taxing than 30 minutes against the Pistons in February. Point is, the guy worked his *** off to be at his best for the playoffs and he was until the last few games, when nobody other than LBJ played well.

And yes, he wouldn't have won these last two titles without LBJ but if LBJ had played even half as well as Wade against Dallas we would have been trying to 4-peat this year.

We made a deal with Wade in 2010 knowing that were were going to be paying him $42 million at 32-33, and knowing his history of knee problems which was no secret. Now we have to live with the deal we made or make it worth Wade's while to make a new one.

I have no problem with him opting in because we made the deal, that isn't the point.

The point is the idea that we need to pay Wade big money for the rest of his career because he is Wade is ridiculous. That is how you become the Lakers. At this point he should be grateful that he can extend his career by playing with Bosh/Lebron and not HAVE to play 82 games whether he wants to or not.

Are they planning on using their draft pick? I know they can't technically trade it, but they can take a player for someone else and make the trade afterward.

I really hope they do plan on making both their draft picks. This pool is too good not to dip into. I also think the Finals showed just how badly the Heat need to get younger and more athletic. They simply cannot play their style of defense with aging or unathletic players.

I'd love to see one of the PGs like Napier, Clarkson, or Payton; or a wing who can shoot from distance but has some athleticism like Hairston, Young, or Robinson.

Just got home from work, long day because everyone was in my face about the Heat, I just kept saying always next year, they were saying Lebron leaving to go play in New York, I said why would he leave to go play with Melo, more like Melo leaving to go play in Miami with Lebron, Wade, and Bosh.

That makes sense and I hope Wade takes a new deal like that. 5 for $60m will let him play on a good contract into the better part of his 30s. 5 more years lets him play as a life long Heat legend. He's got to play off the bench though, he's knees have never held up.

I've been saying for weeks that we should sign Patty Mills in the off season. He's cheap, he's a good 3 point shooter and he gives you energy on defense. He'll be a good replacement for Chalmers. I thought Cole may be ready to start but it doesn't look like it now.

So if we offer Wade and Bosh longer but smaller contracts on an annual basis hopefully we can fit in a big 4 guy or better talent on the bench. I lean towards a better all round roster. We need multiple guys to step in off the bench and perform without missing a beat.

Spurs were hitting everything, what interests me more is what are your thoughts on "Real Cool Beas"?

FWIW, do not think LeBron is going anywhere, do love DW's game but wonder if he is hitting the downside of his career

    Heres a thought for you....

    Melo opts in.
The Knicks trade Hardaway etc etc for Love.
    Why wouldnt Lebron come?

The Knicks could have bird rights on Melo in that scenario. The Knicks if they get rid of Smith, Felton and Hardaway could be operating with a completely empty cap and bird rights on Anthony if he opts in. And yes, I do think opting in is still in play. When he was in Denver Lebron never wanted Anthony to sign his extension a year early. It was supposed to be Anthony and Lebron and Bosh. Wade only entered the picture when Anthony signed and thats when Lebron and Wade and Bosh organized everything at the 2010 olympics

In Miami Wade would be OLD, Bosh is a wimp (yes hes a wimp). In NY, he gets Phil and his proven Triangle where MJ and Kobe won multiple titles. In Miami hes going to have long term contracts for older players surrounding him. If hes talking about a dynasty it might not happen there unless Anthony comes and more sacrifices are made

Was it the system, or the effort?

As I watched the finals, a spur could slip and fall and throw up a paper gatoraid cup and hit the trashcan from 30 feet away, I've seen hot shooters, have never seen an entire team being completely on fire
