Some people's disdain for Pouncey is ridiculous. The fact that people would rather us get rid of him and get worse as a football team is mind blowing to me.

Sure glad we got rid of Brandon Marshall too for his off the field issues (who makes Pouncey look like a choir boy). Chicago is really regretting acquiring him and his issues. Oh wait... no that was a dumb move...

Wow what the hell? This really sucks.

    Hopefully his recovery is swift.

I'll be interested to see what the supposed "contingency" plans really are, if anything. I'm pretty sure both Hickey and Philbin said they had some things in place in case Pouncey was suspended.

Totally agree. It's mind-boggling how much angst there is for Pouncey. The guy is one of the best players at his position, if not THE best and people can't wait to get rid of him. SMH.

Now for me, was never in love with pouncey selection to begin with, that said he is a good baller, the issue really is that the guys we have to step in do not offer his skillset.

If people think Nate Garner is going to consistently hit ppl on second level blocks downfield IDK what to tell them.

Now Samson Satele does interest me as a fill in, and I liked the Larson signing, Sam Brenner on the other hand..sheesh Big Vince will eat his lunch

Pittsburgh found life without Pouncey pretty tough. They ended up paying him well. I see us doing the same.

Bright side is, now they know we need a Center and the candidates will have plenty of time to learn the line calls and hopefully adjust the blocking scheme to the physical talents those candidates possess not what they would like them to be able to do.

The question is whether he will want to remain with the team.He is the last of the bullygate suspects and he has been getting a lot of grief over that plus other things. He may want a fresh start somewhere else.If he does opt out we will get nothing in return.

If we offer him a nice competitive offer... he'll stay due to having long term security. He's seen his twin blow out his knee in an instant. I doubt he'd want to risk that if a good offer was on the table...

Going into the last year of his deal, playing with a nagging injury isn't in his best interest. I wouldn't be surprised if this. season is the end of Mike Pouncey in Miami. Ugh.

read again, that wasn't me. I've never said anything differently that we have a shot vs them on any given day. What we lack is the consistency to beat the teams we should beat while the Patriots do not.

Trav, I'm not always on board with your "enthusiasm" but on this I also have observed the same thing. Brady is not nearly the player he was 3 or 4 years ago, and it could be that this year it really shows. He was God-awful in that AFC Championship game.

    Awesome.

Can Billy Ray Cyrus play center? I thought he was saying that.

I suppose we will find out if Smith, Brenner, or Garner can really play center, or they go with a true center as a rookie in Larsen. I guess we will really find out how Miami views Larsen.

Fortunately for us, they're only armchair GMs. If they were in any position to make any type of important decision, we'd all be ****ed.

I think he could be out much longer than that... throwing him in as a starter as soon as he's cleared doesn't sound ideal...

With a new offense, that works a little in Larsen's favor. No one else has significant experience in the new offense. The logical call here would be to play Smith at center and have Turner and Thomas tackle the guard positions (no pun). But I like Larsen. If he has the smarts to make calls I say give him a shot.

Was thinking along the same lines. Better it happened now and we get it over with. It gives Garner or Brenner more time to acclimate to starting before Week 1.

Great point. Didn't think of that. Being in Chicago, the change in Marshall is mind boggling. He's a leader in their team and a complete 180 from his Miami days.

Maybe it's Miami. Maybe it's our organization. I dunno.

But you're right. I was wrong on Marshall. So I could be wrong on Pouncey. However, that doesn't change the fact that he makes it really hard to root for and defend him.

Between Percy Harvey and Alex Rodriguez, this isn't a good injury. I'm not expecting much if anything from Pouncey this year. I think Miami should act as if he won't come back or play very well this year.

    Serious question.
What happens if Pouncey gets suspended by the league for some games for his role in Bullygate and the pending psych evaluation?

Will it roll over with the time he losing anyway from injury?

If so this might actually be a smart thing.

But if suspension (if any) gets tacked onto the time he comes back off the PUP list then we could end up losing Pouncey for almost all the season.

****..... That's the same injury? Yeah, Don't count on Pouncey in 2014. He's not coming back after 3 months in the same form, having not done any lower body lifting or had any real off-season.

Oh boy, the plot thickens. So I guess if the o-line performs badly to start the season the coaches and fans can have an excuse now? "Our best lineman injured" smh. I hope we can overcome this.

Throw the talented kid turner into the fire, you might as well get valuable experience for your rookie, I thought I read that turner took some reps at center before, at the senior bowl maybe.

Lets see today's the 23rd..wait guys, the season doesn't start for two and half months..

    He should be ok..he's young.

If he is on the pup, the suspension, if any, won't take effect until he is activated

I do think Pouncey is probably done for the year, in some ways I cannot say I mind it very much tbh. I did not particularly care about Jon Martin's troubles within the team. I do think Pouncey was a singular knucklehead, from the Hernandez fiasco to his twitter stuff, it is a culmination of things for me.

    He needs to grow up.

We need to really take a hard look at Tyler Larsen. I think he's going to be a steal. I said this before the draft. He's strong as an ox. He was a Remington trophy finalist. 51 straight starts in college. His senior year, he graded out over 86% on blocks in every game and with over 90% in blocks in 6 of those. He's also plays with an attitude, with 49 pancake blocks in 2013 and 65 pancake blocks in 2012.

Give the man a shot, damnit.

One would think that if Miami wanted to give him money, it would have happened already. They've created a situation where negotiations are impacting him actually getting on the field.

Yeah I don't expect much out of him this year, no lower body work, no preseason, no OTA's, and we're going to start him soon as he's "cleared". Yeah I rather not. Too risky. I don't care what his age is, a torn labrum on your hip is a major injury, especially for the position he plays for.

Not really, not many players get extended where he's at right now. How many players in Pouncey's draft are on their 2nd contracts? Patrick Peterson? Von Miller? Cam Newton? AJ Green? Julio Jones? Aldon Smith? JJ Watt? All those guys their teams don't want them?

And how are negotiations impacting him getting on the field? Are you talking about the initial jumping of conclusions that thought this surgery is contract related? Or have you not seen that its been recently reported that its a serious tear that happened during OTA's?
