Yes PED's are a 4 game suspension for the first time automatically. Yes all these excuses the players put up are bull crap. You can check with your local docs/trainers who all know the list. I also believe there is a phone line the players can call and check besides also getting the list themselves. Interesting fact. Players don't start getting tested until April 20th. So from seasons end until then......they can do what they want. Usually players that are caught push that date hoping they'll get tested later on. Or just being plain dumb. And considering the way Jones played last year we might be better off with Wilson back there. At least he can cover since we like to keep our safeties back in coverage. Keep an eye closely on Walt tonight. He's the great experiment at safety.
What an idiot. Guess him and Dion were working out together. Really hurts the team in what's already a tough opening stretch. Brady is probably drooling right now thinking about week 1.
I found my silver lining: How F*#$IN well rested is our defense going to be after the bye week! Jones and Jordan with super fresh legs. ......Sigh
Mike single-handedly made Brady his bi*** last year. I'm sure he'll see some time, looking forward to it. Ya this sucks, but it's not the end of the world...Patsies are having safety problems w/o PED interference. Still not worried about week 1. But I have to agree...if you're THAT dumb that you get caught when the schedule is pretty much readable...somebody needs to slap your grandma.
I'd like to say that Mike Thomas or Wilson can't play much worse than R Jones did last season, but don't think that's true. It could get much worse. Just have to hope our front 4 can take care of business and pressure Manuel, Smith and Schaub. Didn't think we'd be New England anyway, so no big impact there.
It's not ideal at all, but...it's only a Jordan that hardly played last season and a Jones that had a down year that we'll be missing for 4 games. We'll miss them, but it's not like the defense will be in walkover mode without them.
I was a bit bored...thought....lets have a look at the pre-season gos, views and updates before the game...i just seen this. Lets just shovel up a lil more **** and stick it onto the pile of manure we get every yr and then some. We are habitual self destruct merchants yet we suffer, take it and put up with it. Am i shocked?...a bit..am i suprised...no. Same old. Guess the experts and Vegas betting gurus has us right. Patriots, Jets and Bills fans are laughing right now. Our Defense was supposed to be the rock yet weve lost 2 players in a matter of weeks because their physical abilities obviously didn't match up to their own doubts to perform hence....unbelievable. Another piece of the jigsaw lost
I came home from my workout. I turned on the NFL Preseason Live on my computer and watched that awesome first drive. I check my phone and see a text from multiple friends about Jones. I just said, "Of course." I thought he was out with an injury, but PED suspension is just as bad. This team just can't win. Chalk full of boneheads...
Dude, so negative? Did you SEE the opening drive? I'm all in on Lazor man. I know it's one drive but it was already more creative than Sherman ever was. If our offense moves the ball like this on the regular, we're going to be just fine.
Ditto for Reshad Jones. I've never been a huge fan of his. I always thought Chris Clemons was a more reliable player. We could have resigned Clemons too, even though we signed Delmas. This is one reason why that would have been a good idea. Jones isn't great in pass coverage. I don't expect his absence to be much of a negative impact vs Brady.
Did you see that one play Atlanta scored on but was called back, think the holding on Matthews run play, where Jimmy completely whiffed on a tackle along the sidelines lol?
Yeah, and from what I could see, #35 stunk up the Jawguh Dome as much as any of our defensive players.
Brady drooling about Jones being out? The member of our secondary that Brady most often lights up like an Xmas Tree? More likely Brady is thinking "oh darn it, no Jones for me to take advantage of in coverage."
So we have no chance against NE with or without Jones? Hell, we may as well sit all the starters so they don't get hurt and play the backups, since we're gonna lose anyway.
Wilson and Michael Thomas more likely. IMHO, those two are a better pass cover pair than Delmas and Jones anyway.
I just pulled up replay thing, 12:46 left in 2nd quarter. Wilson misses near line of scrimmage then Aikens misses right after along the sideline. I like Jimmy, I even started a thread about him possibly becoming a special player for us like 6 months ago.. but he seems to do this at least once a game. And Aikens I'm not impressed but I'll give him time since it was the first game and he is a rookie, NO WAY he should be a starter though.
I don't expect Aikens will be a starter any time soon. Thankfully. If Delmas went down while Jones is out, I'd guess it would be Wilson and Thomas at safety. So, yeah, Wilson missed a tackle. That does not mean it's any great drop in talent while he replaces Jones. It ain't like Jones never misses tackles himself.
Oh I know, I wasn't trying to mean it like that. Jones is good, but it's not like he's the one guy that would take us from being a contender to a pretender.. his strong suit is in run support anyway.
Exactly, which is why I suspect his suspension doesn't make much difference to Brady. The key will be continuity within the secondary. Since the 3rd game is a so called dress rehearsal, I'd like to see us start Wilson at safety instead of Jones. At least for that one game anyway. Even though Wilson is listed as a safety on the depth chart, he doesn't have much experience playing a true safety role. Last season, Clemons and Jones probably didn't miss 15 snaps between them. Wilson's snaps on D nearly all came as the slot corner.
Dumbass nothing. He's a cheater and got caught. There's no excuses anymore. He's been in the league several years. He knows what he's doing. Every single cheater who gets caught says, "Oh there was a supplement that had something in it and I was stupid." That excuse is nonsense. Anyone who buys into the "I didn't know what was in the supplement" excuse is naive. Honestly, these guys are hurting the organization, the fans, their teammates and coaches. It's ridiculous. If I were the owner I'd read them the riot act. I'd be pretty pissed. The naiveté of the way coaches and players soft-pedal the cheating ... "he made a mistake he's sorry so he's going to do better next time" is ridiculous. Get some discipline on the team. Get some leadership in there. And, for the players that aren't cheating - it hurts them to lose a player that has a major impact on the team's success. There are no excuses.
Yes, and have either Taylor or Davis take his spot in the nickel. Which ever is playing better between now and then, Davis did a good job tonight, but on the other hand I didn't see a ton of passes go in Taylor's direction so we'll wait and see.
I like Thomas. He has some real potential, imo. 49ers weren't stupid trying to keep him on the PS and develop. But, I'm tired of Wilson. We know what he can do and he's not improving. He has limitations and he will get burned nearly as often as D & J. What Delmas and Jones lose in pass coverage they make up for in run support and hitting. It's definitely a downgrade.
Wilson was rated as one of the better slot corners last season. The problem as I see it, is he has limited snaps playing a true safety role in the base defense. Jones and Clemons hardly ever left the field the past two seasons. As a slot corner, Wilson definitely showed some improvement last season. He was tied for 8th best among slot corners for snaps per reception allowed. Just what one wants their slot corner to do. Not allow pass completions. He had significant improvement in this regard compared to 2012, when was the 32nd slot corner in cover snaps per reception.
Taylor not getting thrown at could mean he was playing tighter coverage. Let's hope anyway. That is the other thing for the dress rehearsal. If Wilson is going to start at Jones' spot, then we need whomever is going to play the slot/nickel corner role to be lining up there too for that game.
I agree that Jones is copping out. As well as others who use that BS excuse. But no owner is going to step in and read these players the riot act. They want their players juicing. They don't want to be at a competitive disadvantage. Period. They may never say that officially, but that's what the "soft pedaling" speeches are for.
Uh, yeah, that's the point. They are getting caught and teams are losing some key players. Suspensions. That's why teams should test their own players.
Our one saving grace with Brady, as we've known since the Zach Thomas years, is to get to Brady with the pass rush to force him to throw before he wants. Even Channing Crowder got his first (and only?) int against Brady due to pressure. Our defensive line is our only hope.
