I don't get it, Moore and Devlin, why do we need the extra arm.

I came in here expecting to see lots of people laughing at the Dolphins (irrationally of course because he'd be 3rd string at best) for "bringing a scrub QB in" or something along those lines. Guess I'm early.

Neither of them are playing at the moment. I don't think anyone wants to see Lobato suck it up for another 3 quarters. That does no one on the offense any good. It was extremely difficult to evaluate any of the backups when he was in the game.

moore and devlin are probably not counted on to give them live snaps during a game, i don´t think we can afford another waste of opportunities for the backups like last friday, if this really happens, i must say its kind of fresh air to identify a weakness and get out there and do something about it, i.e. Satele, good job hickey

    Alright, I'll say it.

Tim Tebow is the obvious choice as a developmental prospect QB

actually surprised he wasn't already a 3rd stringer on some team. He's not good, but good enough to hold a clipboard.

Depends on the projected health of Matt Moore whether we need him. Moore is > than Grossman in every way other than pure arm strength.

So I'm guessing with Devlin and Moore returning to some form of practice on Sunday, one of them didn't respond well and isn't ready to play any time soon. Hence the Grossman link up. I mean we'll have six quarterbacks if Grossman is signed... thinking Jensen or Lobato get the hook tomorrow to make room at the least.

I agree. No reason to bring him in unless one of the guys with a chance to actually make the roster is going to be out a while longer.

Good idea to bring him in if Moore and/or Devlin aren't ready to come back. We need a QB to play in the next preseason game so we can at least get a good look at the backup WR's etc with someone capable throwing them the ball and running the offense.

Brock Jensen was let go to make room for RB Cameron Marshall, who was re-signed as the only 100% RBs Miami has are Miller and Darkwa.

Of the two, Jensen and Marshall, which one is the new Rey Feinga?

The Dolphins are working out Brady Quinn & John Skelton along with Rex Grossman. Plan is to add a veteran QB this week.

Can we stop overrating Devlin already, at least Moore has starting NFL experience and is a capable back up... but Devlin has never taken a meaningful snap in a game, ever. If we cut him tomorrow and sign Bob Griese as the third string quarterback it would make no difference. He's useless just like a 69 year old Bob is.

Of the guys being worked out I imagine they will steer toward John Skelton.

That's based on the Seth Lobato thing. I think Skelton is Hickey's type.

 I love it when Devlin gets hated on for being a third string quarterback who hasn't had a meaningful snap. Unfortunately his preseason glimpses of being a viable quantity are completely ignored.

He had a passer rating of 70.6 in preseason 2012 and 74.2 in preseason 2013.

Your third quarterback should be a gamble with a high ceiling. I think there's justification to wonder why the heck Devlin has stuck around as long as he has.

We've got unhealthy QBs in a backup role and Devlin doesn't seem like a real prospect at this point. I think signing Grossman is a great idea because of the experience factor. Grossman as starter will make one puke, but as a 3rd string back up? He's as good as you might have if a worst case scenario took place in a game.

But, even more than that, I think adding his presence as a veteran (unless Devlin just explodes this preseason) will help RT a great deal. I hope they sign him.

when I knew we got Lazor, I wish we would of signed Terrelle Pryor in the offseason as Ryan's backup. I know that isn't popular, but for a backup or third string I Think there is upside in this offense.

Well it turns out they've turned down Rex Grossman and John Skelton so there goes that theory.

They're still toying with the idea of signing Brady Quinn evidently, but will look at other options and may also just stand pat. Quinn likely wants a commitment from them if he's going to switch gears out of his Fox contract to be a broadcaster.

Purely based on offensive fit I think Seneca Wallace is the best fit for this offense, but he's now 34 years old and I think it'd be fair to question what he has left in the tank.

Then again if all you need is a camp/preseason arm...

I think Lazor would want a Qb with some athletic ability to threat the run, Skelton and grossman don't have that..

Then why they'd get Lobato? That's why I thought they might fall for the big arm of Skelton.

Has Marshall ever been in another team's camp? Seems like he just sits by the phone and waits for Miami to call when they are desperate.
