http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/...s-add-another-rookie-20140812,0,5220888.story Is this like, very bad, or?
Damn. Not even running at this point? He had so much momentum going down the stretch last year. Hate to see this happen to a young guy who was coming on hard. Was 2012 a ligament tear, or just a clean-out scope kind of thing? I thought it was a tear. Anyways yeah this is a bummer. Hopefully he's out of practice for only a short time, but week 1 against New England keeps looking tougher with guys nicked and suspended.
We said that last year after the Keller injury. I know that's just a devil's advocate argument, but just sayin. Never truly know.
Well Sims has taken a big step forward this year .Then someone <Lynch ,Gator or Egnew needs to step up .If the Dolphins part with Egnew, they could look for a fourth tight end after final cuts. I know I am wearing rose colored glasses but I am confident that Clay will be ready for the season .We may not see much of him in the preseason which in one respect could work in our favor as his reps are given to other candidates.
I think the Dolphins should just sign me, then everyone here can quit worrying. 6'5, 250lbs, and I'm only 26.. I have a few good years left in me before I hit 30. I'm slow as crap, a horrible route runner, but my hand eye coordination from all the video games I play I think I could challenge Landry for best hands on the team. I've also been known to throw down some PANCAKES. Stop panicking, the season hasn't even started yet. (same with the LBs)
Hopefully he finds his way back over here. Im trying to find an update on his status, but just rumors so far.
How many teams have capable backups at the TE position? Or really, any position for that matter? Usually guys who're capable of starting, tend to start. Who's behind Jiimmy Graham? Gronk? After Keller went down in the Texans game, everyone was scared about the TE position. People were panicking and looking at the waiver wire and discussing possible trades. Charles Clay wasn't highly thought of at that time and he emerged. Not saying lightning will strike twice, but one man down, another one up. Hopefully, the injury isn't serious. I was/am looking forward to seeing him this year, in this offense with what we've heard about Philly/Lazor using TE's. It's frustrating that Clay is going to miss time to grow in the offense and conditioning. Hopefully, if he comes back healthy, he'll be off and running and not be slowed down by time away. And what happens if the injury is serious? Clay is going into the last year of his deal and has only one strong year of production. That might make his future more cloudy in the off-season if he commands a deal similar to the franchise tag.
Re-injuring a just scoped knee, doesn't sound good.. They say he will miss a few practices but as we know coaches can be full of sh&$ when discussing injuries..I understand the lying during the reg season but I'd like to at least hear an honest timetable for his return, im not buying the couple practices thing.
May not sound great but their being possibly over protective at this point. I don't expect him to play the entire preseason and he'll probably suit up week 1.
I guess my question is really: might he be considered? Not knowing his pathology or injury, who the hell knows? But am I right thinking he is still a FA?
On a serious note we need Gator Hoskins to start getting reps. Hopefully he can get back out there soon! It is odd though... how many of the Dolphins 2015 free agent class are battling injuries? Matt Moore... check... Knowshon Moreno... check... Jailil Brown... check... Daniel Thomas... big fat check... Charles Clay... check.... Jared Odrick... a little bit earlier in OTA's no? check... Derrick Shelby... check...
Keller completely shredded his knee. Tore all 3 ligaments and dislocated his knee. I thought the guy was done before. Now? Judging by the fact that he's still a FA, I'm willing to say it's over for DK.
I remember it being pretty nasty. I really hate it for the guy. I honestly thought he was going to be one helluva safety valve for Tannehill. What was it, like one preseason game in? Speaking of ligaments, a "new" ligament was discovered in the knee last year: the anterolateral ligament (aka: ALL). Just food for thought.
I think if the news is bad about Clay, and the coaches know it, then we should probably make a trade..
why is everybody willing to throw away draft picks all of a sudden, like trades this short before the season or during the season have ever done anything, one guy wants to trade for a LB now its TE, don't throw away the future with immature decisions, like CK and Mr. C already stated, we already thought we would be screwed last year with the keller injury and then charles clay happened.....so relax first of all i believe clay will be alright
look at this nugget http://www.miamidolphins.com/multim...hallenge/1b5dd996-1f28-4aa2-ab40-0c75032c30d4 who is holding the bucket to the right first row and is smiling ? i doubt they would let a seriously injured player hold a gatorade bowl full with ice water and then let him lift it up and cover the weight with his knees /thread....he will be alright
i wrote my post with the Preface that the Clay injury is bad, which means miss significant time, also, it's my opinion because of my knowledge of the roster personnel at that position..I'm not into just hoping a player will turn Into a star, clay is an exception, the mentality your Displaying under the caveat that Clay will miss time, will get You beat.. Aqua summed it up, without clay, personnel wise the position is very weak on the team..so if I know he's gonna miss a month, I'm not gonna leave the Qb without a significant weapon in a critical part of the offense...gotta make moves sometimes if you wanna compete for playoffs..
Seems to be a perfect storm for the first part of the season: Jordan. Jones. Clay. Pouncey. Four young and significant contributors. In today's NFL most of the games come down to a few plays - and those could be key elements. I am not worried about Clay long-term. I suspect by week 3 he should be ready. The problem is, getting into the offense and timing. But, he and Tanny have had a very good connection. More than that, however, is that we could be 1-3 by the time 3 of these get back to full speed and who knows what by the time Pouncey returns. It looks like another 8-8 to 9-7 season unless we pull some smoke and mirrors early on. However, if we start 1-3 and finish 9-7 and make the playoffs, that would likely keep JP on the payroll. The main coaching loss I am concerned about is Lazor because he is so capable in public and I can see him impressing a number of teams for an HC position, if Miami's offense performs well.
Ck went through and showed how many times he was wide open, he has the tools all he needs is the targets. I'm hoping Philbin/Lazor see it in him Only guy I'd trade for is James Casey tbh, even when Clay comes back his role would be just as effective for us
Forget it...I get it that he is probably close to having a return based on that, I was speculating based on the information only that he had reaggrevated a surgery that we were not privy to, and the fact that he hasn't started running yet.
Charity aside, and not to be a spoilsport, but I have a tough time percieving this as anything other than a bit demeaning, particularly given the lack of any victory associated with it, or even having played a football game. In fact, as a Dolphins fan, I certainly would have preferred to see Belicheat undergo HIS end of the douching, er dousing. Assuming of course, he WAS a challenging participant in this Krafty lampooning.
