Here is a pretty good article from...ahemmm....I know...Armando Salamander...but he brings up a good point. I know nothing about this guy..but it sounds like he was quite a prospect...a 4th round pick out of U of Miami....Kareem Brown.

    Heres the link:

    http://dolphinsindepth.blogspot.com/2007/11/kareem-brown-jet-but-what-did-dolphins.html

So those in the know....what did we miss in not placing a waiver for Kareem Brown.....did we miss the boat on him????

The Jets got him when the Pats dropped him this week.

This was kinda a reach for Armando. The Phins can't grab every waiver wire guy they have picked up like 5 lineman and Robinson and Moses are both getting plenty of playing time. If Kareem Brown is a super-stud then yes we missed the boat, Moses has 1.5 sacks in about 3 games so I like his upside.

    Back in Miami
    Kind of a reach... LOL.

What else would you expect from any of the writers down here.
Man he must really be out of material to be writing about a Prospect... who is still completely unproven, who just got cut and put on waivers by another team.

The real question is, if we're so completely and totally desperate for DL help, why have we passed not once, but twice, on claiming Simeon Rice off waivers?

We picked Quentin Moses a Rookie 3rd round pick who been seeing time lately and improving each week. He regisetered his first sack against Pitt and if might have had two. I think pretty soon he might be pushing Roth at the spot. I personally like how Capers has moved Holliday to DE and has started Wright. I hope we keep it like that cause it has been working and Roth has been a huge dissapointment.

I don't understand the hostility here.

    Isn't success in the details?

Or are the beat writers only supposed to write about the star players and known entities, like Harvey Greene wants them to.

I thought it was an interesting BLOG, pertaining to the weakest area of the team.

Not really. Grady Jackson has a reputation not for only taking plays off, but not implementing the play called by the defensive coordinator. He's even admitted to such. To paraphrase: "Sometimes the coaches say one thing, but I don't like it, so I call my own plays."

I think people are a little tired of the dribble that's been coming out of this guy's mouth for quite some time. We have continued to address the D line this entire season. For instance:

    Quentin Moses
    Anthony Bryant
    Jesse Mahelona
    Derreck Robinson
    Sam Rayburn
    Akbar Gbaja-Biamila
    Rob Ninkovich

Just since the season started- which the writer of said article never mentions. It's not like the present regime isn't trying to address the situation. It's the same one-sided crap he spews more often than not. And hey, the past 3 weeks, the D has not been our weekest area. I wished he'd be a little more responsible in his writings, rather than just lazy.

I don't know if I'd classify that as addressing the DL, with what we're talking about here. Those guys you listed are at the bottom of the roster. With the exception of Moses, who's been cut twice this year, they are filler. Four of those seven are not even on the roster (AGB was actually on the team since the offseason). Ninkovich is a special teamer with LB size who's been inactive 8/11 games. And again, would you be shocked if any of those guys weren't on the roster next season? Moses included.

There ain't a heckuva lot you can do during the season. But that's what's intriguing about this particular guy: he might be one of those rare exceptions. Maybe he isn't. But that's the point of the blog. It's not about whether the Dolphins have signed X amount of scrubs off the street.

There's a couple of big threads here talking about us drafting DT Glenn Dorsey and DE Chris Long. But it's not ok for Armando to bring up the topic of DE Kareem Brown?

I don't know. I see this blog for what it is: a blog. Not a column. Then again, I generally disagree with most everyone on these kinds of topics.

Finally, for all the improvement the DL has done the last few weeks, they still can't generate a pass rush or come thru at the end of games (i.e. crunch time).

Maybe this could be more of an indication as to where our defense is going next season as opposed to a blight on the attentiveness to detail of Mueller and Cameron.

Moses is a 4-3 end and we picked him up. Brown is a 3-4 end and we let him go.

    Muck,
I agree with everything you say about the D line, but Armando has a history of one sided reporting. the gist of the article (what I got out of it anyway)was that we as a franchise were doing nothing at the D line position. Yes it's hard to pick up quality at this time of year, and he (I'm guessing- from the typ of reporting he does) has no idea what sort of due dillegence Randy has done, with regards to Kareem.

And the problem w/ the D line in crunch time has been an issue far longer than this past year.
