Part of me knows Fink smiled when Chris Young hit a walk off after McGee beaned Headley in the face hahahah
Yup....and the Yanks are out of it hahahaha.... dude you see Stanton? man you gotta feel for him scary stuff...
That was terrible. Right in the face. Doesnt matter how big and strong you are or that it was 88 MPH. A pitch to the face is brutal.
It's just a good thing Stanton didn't get hit by a Rays pitcher or they might have complained he stayed in the batter's box too long pimping that HBP.
I hate this team sometimes. Every time i feel like they get a walk off win, they dont carry the momentum to the next day. Pathetic performance
It's because they just aren't a very good baseball team. Don't let their record fool you they have been overachieving for the second straight year.
The Rays last night.... Never thought the Yanks and Sox would have something in common.... Girardi was PISSED.... There is a simple fix to all of this.......bring in Betances and fire a 100MPH pitch squarely at Longo's ribs..... http://espn.go.com/new-york/mlb/sto...d-derek-jeter-hit-rays-again-not-pin-cushions Fink can we borrow Ortiz because the Yanks have nobody to pimp any HR's hahahaha
Give me a break. Giradi and Headley admitted they didn't think it was intentional. So stop crying. This is the big leagues. Pitchers aren't going to stop pitching inside just cause people get hit. This is peoples livelihoods is always the dumbest saying ever. I agree pitchers shouldn't go around the head. But save all that livelihood crap for another profession.
When you hit 5 players in 4 games I am sorry there is intention there, either that or your pitchers suck badly. And we all know that isn't the case either. As you said this is the big leagues, hitting pitchers that much doesn't happen... And yes it is their livelihood goonball, this **** leads to concussions.....stop sounding foolish Nappy because that isn't you...
I said don't go up and in. Rays pitchers have hit one player this year in the face. And I'm sure that wasn't intentional. Balls that hit a player anywhere other then the head, is not doing anything to their livelihood. They can say what they want, but Phelps intentionally hit a player. Which is fine. It's part of the game.
I just find it funny that Sean Rodriguez is the Rays' designated tough guy, although also funny that Cervelli is apparently the Yankees'. But yeah the Rays are evil, this is nothing new. I'm just surprised that they haven't signed Ray Rice and AP yet as they would get along great with some of the Rays past and current degenerates the franchise continues to employ with no shame.
You need to have at least somewhat of a moral respectable roster though to set an example for the organization, the fans and sponsors etc. I mean I know personally it would be hard for me to be rooting for a Josh Lueke, Delmon Young or AP/Ray Rice on my team. I'm still shocked Lueke still has a job in pro ball. Surprised there isn't more of an outraged about it, especially after the last 2 weeks with what's going on in the NFL.
Phelps didn't hit anybody.....he tried and missed hahahah altho he did directly walk over to the Rays solo ready to start something so I give him applause for that at least....
Must admit Cervelli and Rodriguez would be like watching midget wrestling.....I am taking Frankie though, I think he would do what needed to be done to win a fight if he thought he were losing, bite an ear, maybe grab a nutsack....
Yeah I can see him doing that too.... I just think it's funny with Rodriguez because he's always in the middle of these "bench clearing brawls" wanting to start fights with pelayers and he's one of the shortest/smallest guys on the field. Would love to saw what he'd actually do if Ortiz or a Jonny Gomes type accepted his challenge. If that Price/Ortiz game from earlier this year happened in 2004, Gabe Kapler and Trot Nixon would have tag teamed him and he would have been a mess like Tanyon Sturtze.
Sturtze got effing up....not A-Rod though Varitek tried to pick him and flip him...couldn't do it....A-Rod was mega-roided back then....
The Rays have no issue signing/trading for players with questionable backgrounds. So while you posted the picture of "Just Win" my point is at what cost? Me personally it would be hard to root for a team/players like a Lueke or Rice or Patterson and I wouldn't want any of those guys or guys who have done similar things on my teams even if they might make the difference between winning and losing.
Yeah people don't realize just how big Arod actually is. He was built like a brick house back then. Even someone like Jeter is pretty big in person too. TV doesn't do these guys justice sometimes.
And you've brought this up when we signed Lueke....so once again...I don't see your point. Yes we signed someone that has a shady past. Red Sox have never done that before...
A shady past? He raped a girl. He was thrown off two MLB teams for it because of it. And no the Red Sox have never signed a player that was already a known sex offender. The Red Sox have also released players that have had similar domestic incidents that Ray Rice has.
Nope, like I said in my previous posts, I find it extremely hard to root for players with "questionable backgrounds". If AP, for example, was a Dolphin player and I owned anything of his it would be in the trash right now. If I were a GM of a baseball or football team I wouldn't roster any players like that. When Chris Benoit killed his wife and kid I got rid of all my Benoit stuff like DVDs and even today have a hard time watching his old matches.
I didn't say you rooted for Marshall. I said you rooted for the dolphins. You said you would have a hard time rooting for a team with someone like Lueke. Fact remains, I'm not going to stop rooting for a team because they decided to sign a ****ty person.
I absolutely do and would have a hard time rooting for teams with bad guys on it. I get your point, I'm not saying you should stop rooting for the team just because they have a bad guy on the team.
Haha, that was a good one. Seriously you would want someone that raped a woman or beat up his wife/girlfriend on a team you rooted for and would have no problem with it and rooting for that player? I get that pro athletes aren't angels, I'm not asking them to be nor do I care what they do in their personal lives as long as they still follow the law.
No I wouldn't, and I certainly wouldn't root for the player, but I also know that not every player is going to be a choir boy. Obviously something as serious as rape moves the needle a little more and I wouldn't root for that guy but I wouldn't stop rooting for my team either.
Yeah wrists that were up and in......like I said toss at the ribs, tossing anywhere up and in is not good...
I never said you should stop rooting for the team all I said was for me it would make it hard to root for the team. And I agree not every player is going to be a choir boy and as I said I don't care what they do in their personal life as long as they're not breaking any laws. If teams started to black ball players that commit these serious crimes then you'll see how fast some, if not all, of these players will turn into choir boys. The problem is in the past there weren't any strict penalties for this stuff. Hell in the MLB apparently grabbing yourself in a gesture towards the fans (like Papelbon did and got a 7 game suspension) is worse than throwing a bat or ball at a player (which was 5 games for a bat and 6 for a ball). People in sports treat players using PEDs like it's the worst thing in the world.
If the A's miss the playoffs this year it would have to be one of the biggest regular season collapse of all time no? Maybe even the biggest if you factor in the 2 wild card spots now. Damn, I thought for sure this team could have won it all. Obviously they still can but they look like they're on life support.
Simply the coolest dude on earth, talk about a guy who did it his way. Not many get to in sports.....ugh these last few weeks are going to be tough for me....
On August 10th the A's were 4 games up on the Angels in the AL West. They were also 8 games up on the Tigers, 9.5 on KC and 11 on Seattle. Pretty amazing their drop so far.
I called this......you knew it was a country club atmosphere there now....a retirement home essentially where older free agent go to get paid and under-perform... http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/b...ure-plans-steinbrenner-sons-article-1.1947766
Best part of that interview: Clearly he doesn't know much about politics.... Seriously though I don't think the Sternberner sons not showing up more is a big deal. It seems like they don't know much about baseball or don't want to get too involved so they let the baseball operations department deal with it. I think the bigger problem is the baseball ops.
