I don't think anyone's panicking. I think the perspective, rather, is that it sure shouldn't be deemed a foregone conclusion that he'll be a franchise quarterback. There have been points during his first two seasons when many folks were ready to make that conclusion.

I'm not sure what forum you're reading, but I've seen little if any posts saying its a forgone conclusion and I've seen numerous posts saying he's definitely not...so I'm not sure why you're taking the stance you are.

Nobody has deemed it a foregone conclusion...everybody's waiting for this year to progress.

And what somebody else deems appropriate for themselves shouldn't concern you...all this "we should" crap...unless you're referring to yourself and your gerbil.

Its all good, but in this forum the prevailing notion is on a line somewhere between Maybe to Definitely Not with a stronger leaning to Definitely Not.

Now, is that because of logic, emotion, actual football smarts? That's certainly up for debate, but this board's arrow is pointing down right now.

The arrow should be pointing down. It's possible to understand he can turn it around while still not being encouraged.

While I agree that there are plays where Tannehill needs to throw the ball quicker, there are many other examples of him throwing the ball quickly. In fact the slat to Hartline, the ball was out of his hands right when he finished. Of course people complained that he threw the ball too quick.

Sterling Sharpe's video also shows me something that bothers me about the media. They are terrible at showing things they do not like. In all of the plays, he picked three of them. You would think all three would have proven his point. However the middle one, does not. He makes two reads, and then is sacked. Maybe the criticism should have that he made the wrong read before the snap, however one of his reads was one-on-one. He was also pushed, which should have been a penalty.

Tannehill needs to improve, no question what so ever. However I still don't see the point of benching him. Right now he is overall as good as Matt Moore. It is not like Tannehill is JaMarcus Russell or Ryan Leaf bad.

He is learning a new offense. There are multiple players on that offense making mistakes as well.

Tannehill's problems have nothing to do with the offensive system, he just doesn't know where to go with the football. He lacks awareness and instincts needed to play his position.

Never said that wasn't the case. Not coming off your first read has nothing to do with a new offense though, if it does he's really not learning very well. There are things I see that you can't write off as being in a new offense.

Everyone needs to improve, but I'm not going to hand out free passes in analysis of their play.

On what % of his drop-backs does he lock on the first read? Further, how does that % compare to the NFL average?

Asking because I don't know and have wondered that. I see a lot of QBs do it, but not sure how often in the grand scheme of things.

Most quarterbacks lock on their first read. Especially when their first read is open.

Well also, coming off reads in time would be something that comes with learning a new offense.

I am not giving anyone a free pass. I see a quarterback that needs to get better. I also see a quarterback that if he had the average number of drops wouldn't be doing this bad with the statistics. Then there are those plays where receivers are running the wrong routes, which is an educated guess, however I don't see many offenses that have their three receivers run to the same area of the field.

He says he's not giving anyone a free pass, points out that Ryan needs to get better, and points out that the receivers need to get better, but he's making excuses?

PFF has a stat that adjusts QB rating for air yards and controls for things QBs aren't responsible for, such as drops, and it increases Ryan Tannehill's QB rating from 74.1 to 78.8, which is 26th in the league. He wouldn't be doing as bad, no, but even the drops don't account for the way he's playing currently.

Sharp is not the sharpest knife in the drawer his analysis shows 3 plays al qb's have at least 3 bad plays in a game the one thing none of these guys know is what was suppose to happen on the play BB said it you can watch all the film you want but you never know what was suppose to happen.
When we played the Pats Sharp was adamant saying no way Miami beats the Pats.
We don't know what is really happening and you have to let it play out, but I don't know football like you guys do

You can't use PFF because they have him as the 12th quarterback in the league right now.

Is that based on their subjective grades? I put a whole lot less stock in those than what they do with objective statistics. What they do with objective statistics they do reliably for all QBs in the league, whereas I don't think it's likely that they apply their subjective grading system reliably among QBs.

This post make me want to /puke. Tannehill is a better QB prospect and better player than what you're giving him credit for.

I cant believe you just compared RT to Usaine Bolt playing QB.

Pffff what ever. You say something like that and all it sounds is like your trying to get a reaction.
