It all has to do with game planning, and Any Given Sunday.

Unless its the Bills. They just lose on their own.

They've quickly reloaded like a great NCAA program. They're sitting pretty, especially after this upcoming draft.

Another one-and-done postseason for the Patriots!

Another great regular season followed by a playoff disaster. The Pats are certainly not DONE, but they won their last Superbowl 7 years ago and it don't look like their blueprint of winning with role players instead of star players works very good in the playoffs.

They were young and struggled on third down defensively. I think they will be fine. The Jets out played them yesterday.

No downfield speed to speak of, the Jets handled them perfectly as their only 30yd plus play went to a Te, their Wr's do not scare anyone and nor should they..the Pats forgot the lesson of the pre Randy Moss days, if you cannot stretch the field and your opponent tackles well, your offense is stuck.

    They had no passrush either.

Sometimes you need to pony up the cash for that game-changing DE/OLB.

I don't think a speed guy was going to help them much yesterday. The Jets covered them like glue with pattern reading, which I mentioned in Club Level.

I do, think I mentioned something about how they should ignore the boundary Wr's and just go man up on them and move Revis or Cromartie inside, without a credible threat on the edge there is little risk in doing so Alen.

Reminded me of the infamous Reche Caldwell playoff game.

Brandon Tate is a deep threat and he did squat. I know many are going to try and spin this but IMO, the Jets played a helluva game.

Ok. That was a tough superbowl loss again to the damn Giants. I hate to admit it but Eli is damn good.

Well, we aren't done but another superbowl loss tastes like cat poop in my mouth. I am going to training camp in the next couple of days. I will do a report for all interested.

    Gardenhead,

I think you may finally be right. I took 4 years but I think the Pats reign is finally winding down.

Last night was an eye opener. A couple of quick observations...

    1. The defense is in real trouble. I don't think I have ever seen so many players running away from the ball on misdirection plays. Also, Revis giving recievers 8-12 yard cushions is not a good sign. The defense needs serious fixing. Cincy could be another bloodbath this week.
    2. Brady is running for his life. He missed wide open guys last night a couple of times and made some horrendous throws into coverage. I think it is a combo of his offensive line and Brady's decision making. I think he is doing a poor job presnap making adjustments and the line is forcing him to make poor decisions. Some of those throws were so bad it's making me wonder if has just fallen of the proverbial old QB cliff. I hope not.
    3. Coaching/GM is not good right now. I don't think I have ever seen that dumbfounded lost look from Belichick as the Chiefs offense chewed up 300+ in the first half! Having the only two wideouts that can stretch the field (Dobson/Thompkins) inactive was curious also. That mean the defense can just flood the middle and bring everyone up to stop the run. Coaching may be the biggest problem of all.

The only saving grace is that no one in the AFCE looks like a world beater. Unless the Pats change drastically(which I don't think will happen) it is really anyone's division. Each team has some flaws but I could see any team(except the Jets) taking the crown.

lol at how old this thread is... anyway... I wonder if the Pats would trade Brady (BB is ruthless in who he trades)? And what his value would be? I would imagine the team acquiring him would have to be in the NFC. Just mentally running down the list, I don't think there are many teams that would be in need of him in the NFC... would have to be a playoff caliber team. Maybe the Rams? 49ers? And of course that salary cap thing would more than likely be prohibitive.

Doesn't Tom Brady have some sort of hip injury? (which is probably more or less badly affecting his deep ball accuracy)

I think it's likely that injury if true could be worse than what anybody in that organization would publicly admit...

Eventually, I will be right! Hopefully, 2014 is the year!

I would like to change the debate slightly and say the following: the Patriots run is not and has never been a dynasty. Yes, they won 3 SBs in 4 years, but they didn't even make the playoffs the year after their first SB. And they've lost 2 SBs since winning their 3rd SB, which was in 2004. They've had an era of dominance, but dynasties don't lose Super Bowls and they definitely don't miss the playoffs.

Bump all you want. Pats played a good game against a team notorious for choking in prime time. I think the stat was that the Bengals are 1-11 in primetime games (including playoffs).

Before we as Dophin fans go and start prematurely burying teams and players, maybe Miami should try being good for a change eh??

Otherwise there is no difference between us and Jets fans...

Disagree. Its fun to revel in the misery of your rivals. KC stomping the Pats was FUN.

And I can't speak for the rest of the Miami Dolphins fanbase, but the "difference" between me and jets fans is that I care about my personal hygiene.

New England didn't even play particularly well last night. The Bengals should have been in the game late but kept shooting themselves in the face.

Credit to NE for playing hard and making the most of Bengal miscues. However there was no crazy reemergence of NE. They had the same problems as previous games except their opponent killed themselves. When you're convertibg draw plays on third and 16 it says more about your opponent.

I don't think they suck. I still have them penciled in at 10-6 in my book.

    accurate.

The big victory last night is that they are showing signs of improvement. Revis looked to form. Brady was stepping into his throws and was accurate. The running game looked a lot better and the Oline was a lot tighter.

We still lack a solid pass rush, which has been the case for a few years anyway.

All in all though, this is a pretty typical response when we get beat. I think next week will be the best test of the season this far.

The key to NE is their running game, if they can still get it, they are just as deadly as they ever been...I guess the same can be said with other teams but you know what I mean.....
