Why at 5-3 it's way too early to get all hyped over Miami as a playoff team. In any season. Ever.

When we are 6+ games over .500 in late November or December ... then believe the hype that this is a good team.

This game (really this season) is a vintage archetype of what Miami has been for nearly 20 years with a couple of minor exceptions. It's like living in a time warp. It's like groundhog day but you can't figure out what's going on and improve yourself. You're stuck in a bad day with no hope of getting any real improvement.

It is what they will be the rest of the season. Good one or two weeks. Bad one or two weeks.

The team is, shall we say, Philbin-esque? (which also means Wanny-esque and Sparano-esque).

And, now, with the loss of Albert and possibly Finnegan ... and the Bills on Thursday ... good grief.

It's just getting depressing watching this team decade after decade. Sorry for the rant but this is frustration of decades (not weeks, months or years, decades).

It's not just mediocrity but also some terribly bad luck (see the injuries).

Still hope but such hope (especially with the loss of such a critical position) is fading fast ... a loss to the Bills could be devastating (we lose and we are ostensibly two games behind them with six to play because of the head-to-head 0-2 disadvantage). Crazily enough, we're behind the entire Central Division!

The Dolphins weren't bad today, they just weren't as good as the Lions. Imo they haven't played a bad game since Week 3. The Bills will be tough, no question, but I gotta ask, if the emotional roller coaster is upsetting then why ride it?

Dolphin players were fine except some average play from the Qb and the coaches poor strategic sense..

For once would be nice if we can overcome injuries and some bad luck and turn into good luck, seems same ole **** , no matter who the coach and QB is, sucks

Dude, stop. You're in Fantasyland, where you know more than Lazor, Philbin, etc, and its only making you more and more confused.

Awww your so totes adorbes sticking up for your team..

if you don't have a problem with the gameplan today and how they underutilized the athletic qbs skill set, considering what we know about the qbs skill set, we have nothing to debate, because if you don't question this, you question nothing.

Youre right, there's nothing to debate.

I question if youre aware of the complexity of the pro game game or if you have the necessary level of respect for the coaches you're critiquing. Frankly, you remind me of a proud papa yelling advice to the coaches at your son's little league game.

I understand the game fully as it relates to concepts, philosophies, leadership, the utilization of skill sets as weapons, and simple common sense..I don't pretend to know more than coaches do when it come to X's and O's, I'm an evaluation guy and this is an evaluation problem..and that is a dept I have no problems questioning..the problem your having is differentiating my criticism of a singular problem to that of hating on the team...(sheer sign of homerism)

As far as your last statement goes, you don't know me..calling me that guy, is a direct insult, im done with you.

Looks like some folks are afraid to admit what our Qb is, and afraid to commit to the style of offense that needs to be played to get the best out of that Qb ...I surely am not.bring it on, I know what he does well, embrace what he does well.

In the zone read the QB has various options, they are not up to the coach, but the QB at the line and snap. I'm not upset with the coaches that Miami get's off to awful starts (read the stat line in the first Q). This is a system that it seems the players have to find a rhythm. Don't think I can blame the coaches for that, not when the team is at it's best after halftime, that's coach-work. Execution of the gameplan is on the players. The players know it, and Wallace is gonna call out his QB soon.

I saw this as a tough loss to a good team with a great defense. The Dolphins didn't beat themselves, they just got outplayed by a really good team on their home field. I'm as disappointed as anyone else, but let's see how they do against Buffalo before we write the season off.

There is very little complexity to NFL football. it's literally the same plays over and over.

The question is are the head coaches to blame or the lack of a franchise QB?

There are times when RTH looks great and then other times when he looks mediocre. A great QB can help overcome team deficiencies to lead their team to wins in these kind of close games. This loss was a team loss.

Our offense could only muster 16 points, 7 of which came on a FG block returned to the 5. We have to make more plays. Clay needs to be more consistent and make that catch. Our OL needs to step up and block. Our WR's are getting paid way too much to not be one of the best units in the game. And RTH needs to learn how to throw a f'ing deep ball. What's the point in having Wallace if we can't utilize the one thing he brings to a game that few others can?

More or less, until THill turns the corner this is Dolphins football, close games, some won, some lost, .500 the usual outcome

The bottom line is the offense did not execute and make enough plays. Also, Give the Lions their due. That is a 7-2 team. They are winning close games.

I wrote almost the same thing and I got *****ed at and told to go away. This team isn't a playoff team. We won the games we should have over bad teams. San Diego I cant explain they just packed it in..

When were in first place and 4-5 wins over .500 Ill get excited again..

You cant come out FLAT and come back all the time in the second half.. Not against decent teams. And Detroit isn't an uper echelon team they have played some bad teams.. They wont be contenders .

Dolphins had lead with 3 minutes left to play. Same against Green Bay. Only game they choked was against Kansas city. Philbin and co w/tannehill get one more year.

It wasn't an insult, it means you're a passionate guy who means well. Like I said before, you think you know something the coaches don't and its sooooo the opposite. They've worked with Tannehill for thousands of hours, they know his skillset and what he's best at. If you can't admit that then I dunno what to tell ya.

You know tannehill has gotten better in nearly everything from looking off the safeties and going through his progressions and even pocket presence seems better. The one thing he will probally never get better at is the dam deepball. The difference in the game was staddford hit his deepball and tanny missed again. How many games did that cost us last year?Mike Wallace is such a poor fit with tanny at qb.We need a bigger more athletic number 1 wr to make up for his poor deep throws.

You don't think college is more innovative? College had the spread, West Coast offenses, ect. That's where the Chip Kellys, Steve Spurriers, Gus Malzahns come from. Innovative offenses are invented and tested in college then eventually those concepts find their way into the NFL. I would say defenses are more innovative in the pros however. I'm also bot a big college football guy either btw.

I dunno, thats a good point you make, never really thought about it like that. I always thought college was basically a couple dozen teams playing against 100 sparring partners. For the best teams only a fraction of opponents are even somewhat capable of winning. In the pro game you can get your *** kicked virtually any week if you don't come to play so tactics and preparation come into play more often imo.

Bumble Bee had an EASY TD go for naught bc RT couldn't make the throw, again. If RT throws that ball across the field instead of up the field its 6 points. I love RT but high school QBs can make that throw.

This game is a classic example of fans with unreasonable expectations. You should have known beforehand there was a strong chance we would lose, as in 50/50 even with us playing pretty well going in. They are a bad matchup for us, it's on the road, and they were 6-2.

I get pointing to us losing the Bills this year, or last year to them twice, or last year's Bucs game. Don't point to last Sunday.

What grinds me is that the people who swear we mediocre same old Dolphins are the main ones pissed that we didn't go on the road and beat a top tier team off their bye week when we have a huge game vs Buffalo 4 days later. Seriously, make up your minds lol.

Beating Buffalo is easier said than done. If Miller ain't healthy we are in trouble. Mario Williams vs Dallas Thomas at RT, no Bueno. Albert was a guy we needed to stay healthy and dude is out for the season.

He doesn't totally own the problem though...great receivers make adjustments in-stride...Mike doesn't. As an analyst (respected guy, not a BSPN talking-head) I follow stated: "RT struggles throwing deep but Wallace's issues playing the ball are worse. He slows down to find it and has zero interest in fighting for it. If Wallace had Landry's mindset, Tannehill would've connected with him much more often."

On a vast majority of the deep throws, he puts it where a good WR should be able to make a play on it...some of the ones that were dropped earlier in the year were bread-basket, some were very catchable, a few were too far off. I'd say a vast majority of his really deep throws have been catchable. He needs to continue to tweak/develop it, not take it out of the game plan.

And that's really where I had to reconcile this loss. They just got beat by a better team. At least it wasn't a blowout.

That throw for the game-winning TD was sick...almost impossible to defend...and the RB made a great catch.

Meanwhile, CC dropped a TD and we blew coverage on Tate. They were the better team on Sunday.

Game plan against him. Read option him. If he's constantly staying at bay because of tannehill, that neuters his pass rush a little. Run screens and draws. It's not going to be easy but lazor has to bounce back big imo. This defense shut his offense down last outing, this is our first look at lazor going round 2 with a defense.

No doubt megatrons the best but staddford gave his wr a chance and tannehill did not as usual. Why after 2 years he can't hit him in stride is so frustrating to watch. You can't expect long drives against good defences. When the home run presents itself you need to hit it.
