What, no one wants to talk about the Mets giving up the 15th pick in the 1st round for 2 years of Michael Cuddyer?

Also Fink are you believing this "all in" talk with the Sox and Panda?

I find it hard to believe the Sox are going to be the ones to give him 100M.....

I'm really hoping that they do, so they have less money to throw at Lester.

They easily could afford both of them and Shields.....money isn't a problem for them this year or the future....

    It is the years...

I would have bet anything that Cuddyer would have been this year's Drew but moral of the story is there's almost always going to be a depeserate/stupid team out there.

Honestly have no clue. I mean he does make sense for the Sox based on their 3B and offensive needs but I don't know I'd probably pass on him.

And I'd be shocked if the Sox signed two out of the Lester/Shields/Panda trio. Unless they could get a bargain with one or both.

Ken Rosenthal is reporting the Tigers are close to resigning Victor Martinez to a 4 year deal. I love Victor but that sounds like a bad idea for a 36 year old DH coming off of a career year (also with Miguel Cabrera on the roster until forever). Good for Martinez though.

Man today has sucked in baseball. No chance the Cubs get anyone good at catcher now. Likely just stick with what they've got. And the [CENSORED] Cardinals. Every year it seems. Those guys are the Patriots of MLB.

Kind of hope the Sox go after him next offseason. I think he'd be great at Fenway.

Heyward trade is great for St. Louis, and I think he has a resurgence there. Kind of surprised to see Atlanta let him go.

Cant imagine them trading Shelby Miller for one year of Heyward.

I think they're rebuilding for the new stadium in a couple of years. I'm sure they'll move Gattis and Upton [Justin of course not worthless BJ] next. I love JHey but he's injury prone and never became the offensive force they had hoped for. His glove is amazing though and is going to save St. Louis several runs defensively.

He played 149 games last year? and 158 in 2012. That is not injury prone.

I know they've said just about everyone is available except a few. I'm sure the new gm also wants to out his own stamp on the team. I guess I always figured Heyward would be their face of the franchise for years to come.

Never got the sense St. Louis liked Miller but either way the Cards still have to give Heyward the money to get him to stay.

Injury prone might be a little harsh but he struggled with some problems [and some bad luck with the ball to the face], especially early in his career. He played through a lot of it. His rookie year he was playing through I believe a deep bruise in one of his thumbs for a long time and the next season he was having some lingering issues but Chipper was on him to stay in the lineup. 2012 and this year went off without incident. I love the way the kid plays the game and am going to miss seeing him in Atlanta. I wouldn't be surprised to see the Cardinals coaches get more out of him offensively.

    149 games this year.
    104 games last year.
    158 games in 2012
    128 games in 2011
    142 games in 2010

If I had to guess I'd say that Freeman, Simmons, and Tehran are not available. That's probably about it. I'm sure they'd listen to offers for Kimbrel.

Doubt it. He values swinging down. Hes a 6'5 245 pounder with a to much slap in his swing. Polanco from Pitt has same issues. Unless someone changes their values and swings, they will be huge lead off guys who run into their homeruns....

I believe the Braves past and current hitting coaches aren't thought of very highly around the league so perhaps a new environment with new coaches could do wonders. I also remember Heyward hurting his arm/elbow/shoulder after his rookie year and thus changed his swing to avoid the pain and never went back to the old one.

Almost everybody is saying Boston. Reportedly Lester is going to visit Atlanta this week but I still wouldn't say they're more than a darkhorse at best at this point. I'm going to cross both of my fingers though.

I know I don't think highly of them. He hurt several things his first two seasons and was never the same players we saw the first few weeks of his career.

Yeah I think the Atlanta trip is more of a "hey Lester lives close by so he might as well visit them". I don't think the Braves are a realistic option.

Possible, but a lot of times hitting coaches are Organization philosophy. Meaning, if one coach was teaching them to swing down, it's highly unlikely Braves go out and hire someone with a completely different philosophy. Possible I guess. But not likely.

They probably could have signed Lester for 5 or 6 years for 110-115 million in ST. Instead they're probably going to have to go 6 plus years and over 140 million.
