    Gotcha.

My reply to that is... Lazor can call the plays but he cannot execute them. Very rarely have I seen us stall on a drive and come to the conclusion that it was a bad play call. It almost always has been a lineman getting beaten, Tanny not avoiding pressure, a WR dropping a pass right in his hands... execution issues. I think a lot of that has to do with this being year one of running this offense and our inability to give Tannehill ample time to make his reads and throw.

    It isn't the playcalling.

Agreed. I think he stays. Personally, I want to see one more year. At the moment, that's where my line is drawn.

I have really enjoyed this offense...totally different from what we have seen in a long time. Only complaint would be a better balance between the run/pass. I would like to see Miller with at least 20 carries once. I do understand that game circumstances dictate leaving the running game sometimes, but just a few more attempts would do wonders.

Very few games, this year, have we been so out of it we had to abandon the run. We just seem to do it every game for some reason.

maybe so, I want to see more runs from the qb, more pocket movement, and i want to see the qb be encouraged to run the freakin ball if the play breaks down, instead of just eating it and going thru progressions when in fact you don't have the damn protection to be going thru multiple progressions, its like they want him to execute a system from the pocket and are just ignoring the facts that the pocket is being consistently compromised.

Seems like they're protecting Miller, and his backups haven't done enough to warrant more carries.

excuse after excuse and talking about getting back in the rhythm.

To get back into the rhythm don't you first have to possess it?

Protecting him from what? The playoffs we most likely won't be a part of?

I think Lazor is caught between a rock and a hard place when it comes to protecting Tannehill. When he doesn't leave in extra guys, Tanny has almost instant pressure in his face. If he leaves in extra guys to protect, Tanny has no TE or RB to check it down to. Not to mention the running game hasn't really helped him out.

Hey, ya know... losing Albert was big. I don't know how many teams can say that if their LT went down that they wouldn't lose much. With us... it was a killer. James has done an absolute bang-up job moving over to LT. He's been fantastic. However, Dallas Thomas has not played well at RT at all. He needs to step it up.

I'm very aware that last part was a huge understatement. :wink2:

But, yeah... I agree Tannehill could use his legs more, and not just out of the zone read formations.

He's got a bad shoulder and/or knee. They don't want to draw attention to it but it's obvious IMO. We are CLEARLY much better on offense when he's getting more touches, yet week after week his carries are in the 10-14 range.

Agreed. Not enough attention has been paid to the Albert injury. Losing Moreno was killer, too. 5 CBs went down in a 5 week span. Every team deals with losses but ours have been especially painful and ill timed.

I think Moreno and Albert were the biggest losses, took away a lot of stability in our offense. When Moreno was playing, his effort seemed to rub off on Mike Wallace and a couple of others. Mike Wallace's attitude from the first half of the pats game to the second half was almost night and day. He was more aggressive going after the ball and getting extra yards, in that first game. I hope Moreno comes back cheaper next year, along with Finnegan.

    Please.

    Fail.

    A. Philbin had a great deal to do with that. He's completely indecisive at the end of the game. It was his playcalling decisions that hurt us against the Packers, not Lazor.
    B. He had some great play calling games otherwise.
    C. Often it was execution that failed.
    D. Other times it was tough because the line has been mediocre with injuries and weaknesses in the interior.
    E. Tannehill could not throw a bomb if his family's life depended on it.
    F. There have been several game-changing dropped passes to boot.

His first year as an OC and he's done a pretty good job. Doubt he'll be hired as HC, however. But, I'd definitely keep him on as OC.

He's basically done better than any OC we've had in years at getting points on the board.

Tannehill doesn't have time to throw the bomb. Nor does he have the receiver to throw the bomb to.

I re-watched the Pats/Dolphins game today and noticed the Trent Green was saying he asked Lazor what the identity of the team will be in regards to passing/running, Lazor said whatever gives us a chance to score, that might be running one game, passing another, or a good balance of both. That is paraphrased, but that is what I remember hearing.

edit: In other words, he is not like Jimmy Johnson that planned a certain amount of runs each game. I think we should run more, but apparently Lazor seems to think passing gives us a better chance to score. That's the only thing I don't like about Lazor, I would like to see him more dedicated to running the ball more, maybe not as much as Jimmy Johnson did, but definitely more than what we have been doing. The first game of the season is a perfect example of what running the ball more can do for this team, of course we had Moreno and maybe that is why we haven't seen the run as much as we should. I think Lazor doesn't have as much confidence in Miller as he did with Moreno.

That's your opinion. I could say there's no need to keep saying he can't throw the deep ball, as there's plenty of stats showing otherwise, to receivers not named Wallace. But, people keep making the same lame statement, so I keep making the response.

It's internationally known that Ryan struggles with the deep ball, it's not just the opinion of a few guys on a message board unlike the argument against it.

Well it's 'internationally known' that Ryan Tannehill 'held the ball too long' on Sunday, according to Gregg Rosenthall, anyway, and that's really not what I saw. But OK.

I believe he has demonstrated the ability to implement and manage an offensive scheme that is capable of scoring offensive points. He continues to show he gets more out of quarterbacks than people expect. He has demonstrated play calling abilities that surprises the defense. For the first year as an NFL offensive coordinator that was a QB coach last year, I cannot imagine a better start.

As I learn more about his offense, I do not believe your statement is valid. Most of these plays have multiple options. If you want to criticize the scheme, then I will accept it. I just do not see the level of play-calling blame you place upon him.

From what? He 23 years old. It's not like he is going to retire anytime soon and got too much mileage on him. Give the young man more carries!

He's had shoulder problems since college, I suspect that's the issue. There's literally no other reason that I can think of as to why he's not being used more.
