How much more time do we give Tannehill to prove he's got "it"?

When I said wallace was the issue I meant more with regard the deep ball than with our overall performance. I agree that wallace would be better suited with a real solid no1 beside him. Hopefully that's landry next year. The biggest issue with the team appears to be coaching. I'm not convinced that Philbin is anything other than just a guy.

And there you're talking about games against the QBs with the top three WPAs in the league, whereas Tannehill is 20th in the league, only one spot higher than he was as a rookie.

And that may be true, but using the same logic, I'm not sure how anyone can be convinced, either, that Tannehill would be any better than he is with a different coach. In other words, it's just as likely from our vantage point that Tannehill is "just a guy," and Philbin is being held back by him. Who knows.

Sign him to about an 11-12M contract, use the extra resources to shore up depth and pick up an OG. Ryan will likely never excel a team like a Rodgers or Manning...but those QBs are very difficult to find. So do our best to build a great team around him and let him manage it.

The only reason I care about college is I give him an extra year on the scale because of lack of experience.

None of the threads or comments about Tannehill not being special matter. The important questions is which of the following two choices give the best opportunity to win a conference championship:

    1. A team built around Tannehill
    2. 5 to 8 years from now with a draft pick 2016 to 2018

I just do not see the Dolphins losing enough games to get a top 3 pick in the draft without a fire sale, and I believe a fire sale would be foolish. I strongly believe sticking with Tannehill is the best available path.

The constant shuffling of players? I thought we were left with sub standard players by Ireland? We have had our Qb for several years and his name is Ryan Tannehill. What we still have are glaring holes in our offensive line and lack of NFL caliper depth at every position. We don't run the ball because our blocking sucks. We throw short quick high percentage passes because it's all we are able to do to maintain a block for 2 or 3 seconds before someone is in THills face. We don't throw any type of deep ball because this line is incapable of holding there blocks long enough to let the play develop.

This team is no further along then 3 years ago when Philbin took over. The problem is not the players its the leadership building the "team" or should I say lack of it

You give him until he stops progressing. He's making huge strides so this shouldn't be a concern for now.

I think you could make an argument either way. You could say he's progressing, but you could also say the offense has been scaled back to the point where progress seems to be happening but really isn't. If you stop attempting triple axels anywhere near as often, are you suddenly a better ice skater? Degree of difficulty.

You sure about that? Because watching Tannehill this season, we've seen how well he plays with a clean pocket.

And that would seem to be a prerequisite for being just a starter in the NFL. In other words, if the conditions around you are ideal, can you play? Well if you can't, you shouldn't be on the field. The question is, how well do you play when the conditions around you aren't ideal?

Really? Okay, question -- how many great QB's do you know have played well with crappy O-lines?

Again it's the coach. It was Geneous calling the TOs before halftime, for that alone he may retain his job, but not going for it on 4th down and electing for the FG could have been a 14 pt swing.

Is a 2% change in sack rate REALLY a change? So a change of 1 sack out of 100 snaps didn't change Tannehill's stats? SHOCKER.

He has a 18/8 TD/INT ratio. He's improved in almost every statistical category once again this season. You don't give up on that kind of production.

He already has IT. Re-evaluate in 2 or 3 years. It's his job for now. This team has WAYYYY more pressing needs than QB.

I tried to be optimistic but it's not looking good for Tannehill's career as a Miami Dolphin. 22-24 as a starter, can't seem to take the next step. Maybe next year

He should have another TD today and a PI on the second INT. That would reverse his stats. Plus a blocked FG for TD hurt. Its not on him that we lost.

Why can't Tannehill lead us to victory in big games? Luck has done it, Wilson has done it.

I mean...would you like him to walk down field and place the ball gently into the hands of WRs? I mean if guys drop balls and PI penalties aren't called what else would you like.

You absolutely give Ryan Tannehill a real coaching staff to work with. He's not the problem.

Our defence is a fraud. We were sold a pup. It's meant to be top 5. It's full of wimps and it's poorly coached. Tannehill has some decent numbers again today. I think you can easily make the argument it should be better but whatever.

Go watch soccer. What do you know about football? "Let's praise Tannehill for his great stats even though we can't win a big game" what type of mentality is that? I base my arguments on winning which we haven't done in 6 straight seasons.

Here comes the Tannehill backers putting every excuse out there as to why we have been one of the lowest scoring teams in the NFL the past four weeks, and no blame to Tannehill. He so perfect he can never be bad! That guy is average to below average at best. I can care less about his completion percentage he is a checkdown machine thats why its high.
