I was really not surprised by the outcome of the game. I was shocked at the score at halftime. The way the 2nd half went down was really how I envisioned this game. We had players on the field that were over matched and not good enough to compete over 60 minutes. It took a half for the Pats to take advantage of these mismatches and when they did...the flood gates opened. This is totally my opinion but these particular players really have disappointed..

Wake-Starks-Vernon- These 3 were playing at such a high level at the beginning of the year but have virtually disappeared the last 4 weeks. They all look tired and nowhere near to near to our expectations. I love Cam Wake but he has provided very little to the run defense and provided little pass rush. Vernon has done the same. The energy level is almost non-existent. As for Starks...I cannot believe the dropoff I have seen from him. I had to check at one point if he was even dressed today. These are leaders of our defense. What has happened? This is as far from an ELITE defense as one can get. Never could answer the bell when a stop was needed. I thought this unit had a chance to be special.

Trunsik-Wheeler- I had NO expectations from out Lbs today. Trunsik and Wheeler are what they are. They actually made some plays in the 1st half but were TERRIBLY exposed in the 2nd. I understand that if other players were healthy that they would probably not have been on the field much but watching them in coverage...especially Wheeler..such a mismatch.

Jimmy Wilson- I knew exactly what kind of player he is and it still shocks me watching him play. He is terrible at tackling and always a step or two behind in coverage. I truly cant remember a play he has made all year that made me take notice. When they go over films...how does he look anyone in the eye? yet he still is out there

Offensive Line- I was pleasantly surprised the protection and run lanes they provided in the 1st half. Clean pocket and time to throw. 2nd half was a disaster. Dallas Thomas cant play. Period. Pouncey is average at best at Guard. At best. he needs to return to Center. When you have to platoon your guards mid game...you dont have a starter. Losing Albert was HUGE. We all knew that. The ripple effect it caused turned the season in a totally different direction.

Hartline-Matthews-Williams- Hartline lost a deep ball in the sun and was never heard from again. Rishard Matthews was awful today. AWFUL. He dropped passes...stopped running routes and looked totally disinterested. His game today will live with me awhile. That tape he provided today will cause ALOT of questions for anyone who looked at him as a contributor. Damian Williams dropped that pass and that was that. I keep on hearing from alot of people on this board about him being special. I am still waiting to see it. When you have a chance to make a play...you HAVE to make it.

There were many differences between the 2 teams today. Some very obvious and some not so much. Bottom Line is that when given the chance..the Patriots MAKE plays..they catch the ball...make the block...dont make many mistakes. We on the other hand do NOT. That is a fact. We potentially dropped 3 TDs today. Chances to make plays and as par for this team over recent years...we could not

Sorry for leaving out some others but I could name almost the entire roster and coaching staff and not be far off. Time to step up and take RESPONSIBILITY for what we are too very much used to.

Starks has had a long career and is very near retirement. We need to be looking at DT prospects anyway. Wake should be traded while he's worth something.

Trusnik and Wheeler are what they are. Trusnik is a disaster waiting to happen. He's just too slow. Wheeler...ugh.

Wilson sucks as well. He's a typical Jeff Ireland player. For everyone solid play it's 3 yellow flags, a personal foul and a blown coverage.

Matthews is not a starter. Same as Jimmy Wilson. For every good play, there is a killer drop or a bad route.

Williams is a RB and a rookie at that. I'll let his mistake slide although it's probably a sign of things to come.

Long story short...you don't fix a Jeff Ireland team in 12 months.

For sure. Most of that is Ireland's mess. The sooner we get rid of them the better. Hickey or the new GM has his work cut out for him.

They quit today. Absolute ****ing garbage. But don't worry, everyone will lay the blame at Tannehill's feet because he should have moved the sun so Hartline could see, and so Matthews could catch and Williams is a rookie and he's not ready. **** this team. What a disgrace. 28 years and I've NEVER been more angry.

It's no surprise the defense had looked defeated these last four weeks. The offense has done nothing since the Denver game, and frankly this defense does not play well when it has to. I think the entire situation has been contagious to the players and again.....that falls on who is leading these guys..Philbin. There is no excuse for us to be as bad as we are, even with all the injuries. Poor game planning, no motivation or leadership from the coaching staff and this is the net result. A ton of talent playing down to a level of mediocrity.

I like Kelvin Sheppard as our backup ILB. He's good depth. Not starter material but very good depth. Plays with passion too.

Hit the nail on the head NYPhinfan.

Jimmy Wilson is all kinds of a mess. Everything you said and then some.

Wake hasn't done much in the last few weeks, is he tired? When the Jets and Broncos were running the ball all over us, I was actually relieved when Shelby entered the game.

Agreed on Pouncey too. Today he was getting blown up in the run game.

    Hartline.

For all the bashing of Mike Wallace (who balled today) for his salary, the REAL lack of return on investment is Hartline. He was going to be hit in stride and misjudged the ball poorly. Then went on to register 0 catches when we threw for 350 yards.

Hartline is my boy from Thee OSU, but he has been horrible all year and needs to be replaced.

I re watched several of the running plays that got blown up. It was not play design it was poor blocking usually by Fox, Dallas Tomas and Pouncey. Some of the running plays were really well designed and could have gone for big yards, but we didn't win fundamental one on one battles. Those three usually whiffed on blocks or were not in position to make their assigned blocks.

Actually, if you look at the coaches' film (and it's really cool that they make that available now IMO), Hartline really isn't open much.

Blow it up and eat a mountain of dead cap and get ready for a 3-13 season. Then..........in 2016 if they hired the right coaches, there is at least the possibility of a new beginning in the right direction.

All of these crap contracts have to go, and Tannehill should not be extended; at least not unless he puts on a cape and becomes a super hero next season.

Totally agree about not being suprised or upset about yesterday. The game vs Balt. was for all the playoff marbles. Yesterday was the *** kicking I saw coming. I had the score being 38-10, was not far off. Spot on about Wilson. What a disgraceful performance. Even his smirking at the end of the game made me sick.
The one guy you left off that should be called out was Ryan Tannehill...called out for standing in the pocket, taking a beating and delivering the ball. People on here, complaining a pass was a little underthrown, while he was being destroyed by charging lineman. Yet, getting back in the huddle and trying to get to the next play. Ryan is far from perfect. But he is as tough as nails and fearless. He can be my teams QB ANY DAY OF THE WEEK! I hate to say it, but the bandwagon jumpers, changing their minds about him, from week to week....Hell, some from pass to pass, can wallow in their QB misery. Wanting to throw RT under the bus, while having NO IDEA of a plan to replace him. So the people looking for an Aaron Rodgers, Drew Brees or a Tom Brady to QB the Dolphins can finally relax....they are very easy to find. Take a trip to Canton, walk in the building, and look at around....easy. In the meanwhile, Let a good tough kid, finish his 3rd year in the NFL, before we can cite all his flaws and nit pick. He deserves at least that, for the beating he has taken, and getting back up on his feet...every time.

To Play Devil's Advocate for a moment....

Dallas Thomas' Mother says he is very kind. Always helped her carry stuff in from the car.

Philip Wheeler has a beautiful singing-voice.

Jimmy Wilson has an eye for fashion. His wife loves that he helps her make decisions when she's getting dressed and ready to go out.

Brian shared part of his sandwich with Rishard last Thursday.

So, really, they aren't all that bad. Thought I'd balance out the scales a little.

Great post. I agree with everything. We have to make some serious moves in the draft and free agency, while getting rid of the dead weight. Also need to look at guys who cant seem to stay on the field for more than a few weeks.

On a positive note, Sturgis may be turning into a solid NFL kicker - unless i missed something in 4th qtr (stopped watching that rubbish)

Actually glad I couldn't get home in time from a late flight to see the game. That's sad.

Did see some Bronco Defensive players in San Diego on Friday night at the Hyatt they were ready for a big game no alcohol just a good short evening out those guys are serious about going to the big game.

This whole line of thinking is nonsense.

The whole "such and such player aucks BC he shows no effort and Ireland drafted guys who show no effort" its ignoring the actual cause of the problem

These guys quit on routes, quit on plays, dint care etc BC they have a coach who is not a leader and who they do not believe in. It is the coach, these guys are just as deflated as us at this point. Ready to turn the page on this dull and ineffective staff.

3-13? Are you kidding? There are still a lot of good players after some cap purging. This wiil not be a blow it up, just some better leadership from the man in charge. Another good draft and some more experience, I do not see a problem getting back to at least 7-8 wins next season...BTW, will you be changing your name after the season?

Phillip Wheeler will inform you if there are grass stains on your new cleats. Even while running at full speed he will dive to get a closer look, every time. So considerate!

Jimmy Wilson will not tackle you, but instead bump, and propel you forward as you make a beeline toward the enzone.

Joe Philbin will graciously call a timeout for you as you frantically scramble to put together a quick strike offense with little time remaining. What a guy!

Caleb Strugis will spot you anywhere between three and six points, every single game. Not only this, but he'll also kill two birds with one stone: He'll gift you possession at your 40 yd line as he kicks it out of bounds; this also conserves the special teams' energy.

Cameron Wake and the gang will help keep your QBs jersey nice and clean. Be nice enough to not run the ball, and they'll even offer to pay for your team's dry-cleaning for an entire year!

Our offensive line will help your front 7 pad their stats throughout the game; not just in garbage time!

Kevin Coyle will put our slowest linebacker in coverage on your TE, so that the TE can spot anyone's fantasy team the extra points they need to win their Fantasy matchup that week. When the team is up, late in the game, Coyle has been known to play 20 yards off receivers in the two minute drill; this ensures an unimpeded and clean march down the field into your choice of either field goal range, or a game-winning TD drive.

Cortland Finnegan will ensure you get out of bounds late in the game to stop the clock, when he could have easily funneled you back to the middle of the field to end it.

I really don't think people are blaming Tannehill for the loss. He played well in the first half, but he didn't get much help from the players around him.

In the second half no one played well. It almost appeared that the players were satisfied that they kept it close for a half and they decided to take the second half off.

Playing half the game effectively and the other half as if they have no idea what they are doing on a football field has been this teams problem for much of this season.

Hopefully the next head coach can prepare this team to play the entire 60 minutes each game.

you are the one who must be kidding , why in hell should we be happy with winning 7 or 8 games next year that is exactly why the dolphins are irrelevant . I am so sick of 7 or 8 wins that is just foolish to be happy with under achieving .

I think the poster that posted about Hartline is 100 % right Hartline falls down and drops passes . we also need to get a stud running back because our runningbacks just don't scare anyone . I like Lamar Miller but we need a superstar at at as many positions possible.

When did I say we should be happy with winning 7 or 8 games??! The poster said to be ready to go 3-13 if we blow it up..I disagreed. Just saying that is too much talent on this team to win 3 games. I saw at least the same amount of wins that we have this year. Why would I be happy about under achieving??? Where did you read that?

I just have to say the 9/14 Miami Dolphins were a different team than the 12/14 Miami Dolphins- injuries of Albert and Moreno killed this team and they kept piling up. Granted two players do not make a team make but those two seemed to have it going on then when Jenkins got injured that left the middle wide open. I'm just an arm chair QB but this is and has always been my team. Pregame I called 38-13 NE , guess I gave Miami D too much credit. There is something terribly wrong in the locker room in my opinion. Does anyone have any insight with that?

As I (we) say every year "maybe next year."
