I want to make it clear that I like Tannehill but there are things about his game that pisses me off.

this is not an entire team Analysis thing, strictly watching the qb in isolation even amongst surrounding variables

This thread fails on so many levels it's sad. Finheaven material.

Is there a way to move it there?

I was just addressing your original strawmen. I only pointed out Romo and Big Ben level type of pocket awareness. You created a strawman by calling Romo a choker, so I addressed that even though it was irrelevant.

Now that you were proven wrong, you created yet another strawman. Pretty soon you'll have a straw army going. Romo's numbers dip in December, but he's still very damn good. But that doesn't matter, it's still a strawman to the original argument. You're just arguing to argue, or somehow weirdly defend Tannehill.

Do you think Tannehill has the same level of field and pocket awareness Tony Romo has, or do you not?

I definitely look forward to reading it ... I think there are just so many inconsistencies with this team overall, it boggles my mind, but I do have a strong feeling that Tannehill is definitely our guy.

Last season we were one of the most effective red zone teams in the league, this year one of the worst. Is it playcalling? Did Ryan regress in this area? Were we attempting to force feed the ball to particular players?
I know after Albert went down, the o-line shuffle began and I don't think it's any coincidence that the offense struggled from that point forward. I watched closely for anywhere for Tannehill to escape and in many instances where the tackles just collapsed the interior just got shoved into his face.

Criticize Tannehill all you'd like but he was by far the best Dolphin on the field today.

    proven wrong Oooookay! LMAO

you made the argument, got proven wrong and then try to turn it on me good one.

fact is Romo has gotten hit as much as RT this year, maybe not sacked as much as Rt was, but Romo has taken shot after shot to the point he has missed games the last couple season prior to this one so how great is his awareness and thus escapability? or is there such a thing as the oline not giving enough time?

but in the end Romo coming into this year has a rep for choking late. deny it call it strawman (which really means you cant argue the point) but in the end Romo until this year has not been anymore effective than RT, you can say you werent arguing better qb rather attributes such as pocket awareness. I am merely pointing out that for all this great awareness, coming into this year they were talking if it was time to replace romo.

but again if you dont understand the point, then so be it. And argue to argue no, argue ridiculous posts yes. and yes I do think he has the pocket awareness, I think he needs to stop thinking so much and stop trying to be what he thinks the coaches think he should do, and just play.

and when Romo's Oline was sucking big time, what were the comments about him? he wasn't good enough, a choke artist and not a franchise QB. now that his Oline is playing better, he's back on the pedestal. Look at the Steelers Oline this year, playing much better than the previous two years, and the results speak for themselves. I never understand why fans can't understand that the success of any QB is almost always linked to their Oline, moreso than any link to the WRs.

Lamar Miller had a nice game. Not good enough to prevent NYs defense destroying our pass pro or smothering our WRs though.

IMO , we don't know what the next level(s) is or are because of the continued lack of quality OLine play and inconsistencies from other areas . The D started out well this season but has collapsed the last almost half the year. Add in poor play calling , penalties , not bringing enough pressure at times , I think RT has shown very very well when all is considered.

Till we ( if we ) address some glaring issues , expecting our QB to completely carry the team is misguided imo . Once again this team instead of realizing the answer isn't ( Philbin et all ) we continue with the insanity to probably waste yet another year.

Tell me , just like you think RT isn't the answer , do you think Philbin is ? That he can lead us to the final four let alone a SB win? If not , why are we delaying the inevitable. No winning season since 2008? Like we waited too long to jetison Ireland , and you were in favour of retaining him , we now are once again doing the same thing with Philbin.

A top tier coach would have made a difference this season , and as I said we have many many holes that are far bigger than 17 , I don't think he is the issue at all. We are really not much further in having a quality OLine than we have been for how many years? So yet again , it is a major weakness that needs to be improved , even after allocating prime resources to do just that.

Saw so much from RT that for me I have no qualms about him being the "guy" ...... we just need OLineman , CB's , Big WR/TE , LB , DT etc. etc .... oh and a real , productive head coach . But that will have wait because for some damn reason the owner thinks this year indicates Philbin is the answer. Yeah right .

Only on a Phins forum does a pedestrian RT17 against a pathetic pass D have a better game then a RB who ran for 178 on 19 carrys. Lamar Miller was easily hands down best player for Phins today.

Only by the drive by media and low information fans. Not by anyone who looked at it critically. Once Romo got his interception propensity down to a respectable area he was took a leap forward.

My only argument was Tanny doesn't possess the pocket and field awareness Romo and Big Ben have. Anything else, was strawman created by you.

Perhaps you'd like to read it once more to refresh your memory.

Where in my post do I talk about December records, choking, or anything of the ilk. Please bold it for me. Thank you.

I thought Tannehill's pocket presence has improved tremendously since his rookie year. I saw him make a lot of plays this year by stepping up or rolling out.

I think after another disappointing season you start to look for reasons, and since QB is the key position, you start there. Kinda nitpicky imo though.

he didn't put up enough points period in a game like this at home, he didn't make one play on his own to do so, he made some throws here and there but other than than that he was static in the pocket and really lacks a feel for the position, doesn't anticipate where pressure is coming from, he follows the script of what he supposed to do, if there are any deviations to that script...play is dead.. Imo that type of game is t going to sustain come playoff time

This is a defense that held the Patriots to 17 points last week, and Brady to 182 yds 1td 1int. They're certainly not a bad defense.

I like ya and all Deej, but PLEASE! He was sacked 6 times, knocked down all day, under constant duress...and completed a 3rd and 15 on a play that Sheldon Richardson concussed himself off Ryan's helmet on a no-call illegal hit!!!

Brady and Manning and every other QB absolutely fold under that kind of duress. RT has been a warrior and a baller.

LOL ok your right you didnt, I just tend to look at qbs in relation to there teams success. but by all means Romo runs around great, didnt translate into anymore wins or postseason success until the defense improved adn the oline improved. but hey your qb running around and getting hurt year after year and still sitting around at home come playoff time. Thats my point, his elite pocket awareness got him where? thats my point. but hey if you want a qb that takes a few less sacks for the same results, fine by me.

I wont argue Big Ben, I think Big Ben is a better qb. but that doesnt mean we cant win with RT

I'm not knocking Miller, he gave all he could today. But when the game was on the line it was Tannehill being asked to make play after play, while under pressure, with a very pedestrian WR group.

My god, it was even brutal watching it on gamecast. 7 sacks, huh? Just as I feared.
