That blows. I've always only kinda/sorta done the optional objectives on missions, while mostly just doing it my way. I guess I won't end up getting a whole lot of them.

You can replay them, but I like to be as patient and flawless as I can, so my initial plays through the campaign missions are pretty exhausting. Takes a little while before I feel like replaying them again.

I'm the opposite. Unlike in a RPG, where I'm going to take my time and try to find every little thing and level up before I move onto another area, with the AC games, once I'm active in a mission, I just tend to go for the goal, so to speak. Kill the guy, find the object, what have you, and do it my way. I pay attention to what the side goals are and try to do them if plausable, but I don't fret over it if I can't. I just kind of focus in and go.

I'm enjoying the game as much as most AC games in the past. Certainly as much or moreso than the last two. Maybe its because I waited for the big patch, but I've had zero tech glitches/issues at all. Plays really smooth. I don't think that the in game graphics on the PS4 are a huge jump from the PS3, but maybe they will be in future games. I will say that the cut scene graphics and motion capture are absolutely top notch. Probably the most realistic I've ever seen.

New glitches were introduced by the Dead Kings DLC, related to the (in)ability to buy/use certain pieces of equipment that you acquire during the course of the story. I'm suffering from this bug; I can't equip the Eagle of Suger sword or any of the guillotine guns. My golden 5 diamond equipment level displays as a silver 5 diamond level as well.

Ubisoft is supposedly working on a massive bugfix patch. We'll see.

OK, I downloaded the Dead Kings DLC, but haven't played it yet. I just started sequence 5, and am only just now well equipped enough to handle 3-star missions without getting my behind kicked. Saved up for the katana, and its awesome.

The PC version of Rogue will support eye tracking. You can control the game with your eyes.

Kind of neat. The ArmA games have been doing this for a while with tracker headset, but it seems like the concept is starting to pick up in popularity. This is probably going to be the next generation of gaming. It's a good argument to buy a multiple monitor PC rig, too.

That all mostly goes over my head, but do you really think that the day will come in the near future when we don't have actual controllers to game with any more? As I understand it, the Kinect and PS Move have been basically scrapped because while kids may have enjoyed them, old school gamers like me scoffed at the idea and refuse to change to that direction.

No. This isn't a move to ditch physical controllers. It's an additional functionality. It's just interesting in the context of devices like ArmA's TrackIR, which follows your head's movement to rotate the first person view of your in-game soldier. It looks like more direct physical input in games is becoming a thing. That's interesting if done right.

Minimum requirements and preorder bonuses for the PC version of Rogue have been announced.

Basically, preorder and get a free AC game.

The minimum requirements are fairly similar to AC4 Black Flag. So if you ran Black Flag acceptably, then Rogue looks like it'll run fine as well.

I'm now through sequence 6 in Unity, and I think that the story is really starting to pick up. A question I have is does the Assassin Rank really mean anything at all. I get how it works by gaining "cred" points and so on, but does it do anything? I'm currently a "four diamond" advanced soldier, and I see that there are a whole lot of ranks higher than that one.

The ranks have no bearing on gameplay. They're just to show progression as you do assassin-y things.

It was originally scheduled for August 2015. Nice to see it finally start rolling. I have high hopes for the movie. It's apparently based on Desmond's story arc, though maybe they've rewritten it since then.

I'm playing Dead Kings now and no issues so far. Only new equipment I've gotten is one gun, but it works great. Its a ton of fun to take out criminals in the street with a mortar bomb, lol. So far so good, and no glitches in the DLC content at all. I'm thinking that the big patch may have fixed just about everything on the PS4 version, because its been as smooth as any AC game for me. They have always, since the beginning, tended to freeze more than other games, and thats the case here for me too. (I'd say about five times through sequence 8).

I'm pissed off about that. I spent 2 months--literally, 2 months--going through the companion app and hunting down all the artifacts to unlock the Altair outfit.

But it looks like they've fixed most of the nagging bugs related to equipment and companion sync.

Yeah, that sucks for those who did what they wanted you to (I was never going to do one bit of it). It works perfectly for me now. I've found two new outfits, other gear, and a ton of cash in just the first dozen or so I've opened.

It does stink. All that time and effort has been rendered meaningless. Thanks, Ubisoft!

The issue with the equipment level not displaying correctly in the upper left corner isn't fixed. But performance on the PC version is improved, at least for me. Frame rate is noticeably smoother, and I've actually been able to crank up the shadow settings. Any anti-aliasing beyond FXAA still tanks the FPS, though. Hoping for a sixth patch that fixes the remaining issues.

Finished the story. I thought that Arno's story/history was about on par with most AC games. I'm not sure why that aspect of the game was trashed by critics so harshly. I did find the lack of modern day story to be awful. The way they handled it in Black Flag was poor, but now they all but abandoned it. Really hoping they get back into it for the next one.

I will say to any PS4 players that after the game was patched, it runs just fine. As I said above, I had no more technical issues with this AC game than any prior one.

Once Elise enters the picture again, the game is basically a series of high level assassination missions that feel like someone edited out the events leading up. It's extremely fast paced, to the point where necessary exposition is omitted. No one has a problem with Arno outright saying he can read memories from blood? Come on.

As for the second sentence… I think you need to replay AC2.

According to Polygon, which is always a dicey statement, the next AC game is Assassin's Creed: Syndicate. The new assassin is named Jacob Frye.

This is presumably the Assassin's Creed: Victory game that was leaked a few months ago. Takes place in Victorian England, in the latter half of the 19th century (1800s).

I better be able to wear a damn top hat.

Big Ben confirmed. Climbing, not sure. Knowing Ubisoft, you'll have to go inside and outside and back inside in a sort of maze.

I saw that there will be no online component to the game. As an offline only/single player guy, that makes me excited and hopeful that all of the resources are being devoted to the story, graphics and gameplay.

I've seen where Ubisoft is really appologizing for Unity and saying "our bad, we'll do better" from here on out. Contrition goes a long way with me, and I appreciate it. Not something that you see all that often. (I personally had no real issues with the game, but I know many did)

    http://gamerant.com/assassins-creed-syndicate-modern-gameplay-sdcc-2015-447/

AC: Syndicate to feature "more" modern day gameplay. Since Unity had basically none, other than some text and audio, any amount would be more. I really enjoyed most of the Desmond aspects of the earlier games (with the exception of the 1st person ones, which I failed at miserably and gave up on). The larger narrative of the series is really interesting to me, and I hope to dive deeper into it and see where it goes.

Ubisoft is still being very cagey about the modern day, so I'm not expecting much.

It would be awesome to play as Galina Voronina going on modern day missions, though.

I like that this is a new story with new characters. The early leaked plot drafts appeared to be based on AC1, with Fassbender possibly playing Desmond Miles.

I dont think they could cast a better actor for the part. There are VERY few legit actors who can pull of the physicality this part will require.

Looks like the AC movie fits into canon after all.

So anyway, now that Syndicate is almost here, it's time to talk rumors. And the big rumor now is that next year's AC will occur in:

    the Russian Revolution of 1917.

    I can believe it because

Karl Marx gives missions in Syndicate. Sadly, we are not able to stab Karl Marx and save 150 million lives.

However, one fact against this is

we already have an AC series that occurs in late Tsarist Russia and the early Russian Revolution, AC The Fall and AC The Chain. So maybe this game is an adaptation of the comics? Or we'll be playing an assassin besides Nikolai Orelov.
