It won't do any good, especially when the league shares blame. This has been a gigantic loophole that has been going on for over a decade. It will definitely be changed in the offseason though.

How much did what the Saints do have an impact on their games? Thing is.. They always skirt the rules.. Time to send a message.

The Saints were actually trying to injure players on the opposing team. I view that as a much bigger issue than having a little air taken out of the ball

I have no problem with the Patriots organization being penalized for breaking the rules. I just question, if having an exact amount of air in each football is such a big issue? Why does the NFL allow teams to control the balls they use during the game?
It makes more sense that an official would be in charge of the balls and each team would have to use the same footballs during the game.

To me this entire issue is ridiculous, but I realize it is against the rules to alter the air pressure in the ball. So the NFL should just impose a fine on those they find responsible and change the rule in the off season to insure the officials are in charge of the balls during the game in the future.

so yea, Brady saying that makes perfect sense.

Even Theismann and Steve Young both agree they it would be hard to notice for anyone, even the Quarterback.

It's the same argument used to defend how the refs who touch the ball after every play, didn't notice it.

So because he might not notice at the line of scrimmage makes it ok for him or anyone else to have the balls illegally altered? I see you're right back to drinking the Patriots Kool Aid after wanting Belicheat fired a few pages back.

Since we`re playing the "former QB said" game, Aikman just said theres no way possible that Brady does not know what exactly happened. He has no doubt whatsoever that Brady knows.

I said if it comes down to them being caught doing something, they haven't.

I didn't state a position, you're so quick to attack. I just posted the article and said, well it make sense he said that.

Belichick and Brady are playing "I don't know" card, I didn't expect anything different so we`ll see if the league buys it. There cant be an honest Patriots fan alive who believes that neither one of them knows what happened.

that should make you happy then, because when the league finds out what happened, they will look even worse.

I didn't read all the previous pages so if you answered this question already, my apologies . Whats your honest take on all this? Do you believe Belichick and/or Brady seriously don't know.?

Exactly. Brady is on record saying he likes under inflated balls, so it's very unlikely he'd have under inflated balls and not notice it. Not saying he ordered it but he knew it was happening.

I honestly can't tell you. I just keep trying to seek out new information, but the reports are all over the map here. You've got some players so it makes no difference. you have some saying it does. Sports science said it makes almost no difference. You have he said she arguments.

The only opinion I have about the press conferences is basically what I just told you, if they did do it, and it comes back on them, it's going to look 100 times worse.. And at that point, Belichick needs to go.

  21. No sarcasm at all, i have been saying from the beginning that this is petty.

The punsishment should be changing the name of the team from the new england patriots to the new england astericks since by the time belichik and brady retire every accomplishment will be tainted with some type of wrongdoing

if indeed the balls have been deflated by the QB then the act is anything but petty, it is a serious advantage to throwing, catching and holding on to the football, especially in inclement weather.

The league can't consider it too serious, given the fine associated with it.

Brady sure looked uncomfortable in that press conference. Sure didn't seem like a guy who was confident in what he was saying. You'd think he'd have spoken a little more confident, and with a bit more conviction about the issue if what he said was really the case. Just my opinion. I know when I get grilled about something at work or by the wife (lol) in a funky situation, if im telling my side of the story, and its true, im speaking with a hell of alot more conviction and confidence in what im saying that that...

I wonder if anyone took air pressure readings on the Jets balls at halftime during Geno's perfect game?

    Maybe that's why... oh nevermind.

It's not that crazy. They cheated. They were caught. They are now throwing blame on the equipment guys.

Reaching for straws man, but I don't blame you. I would be doing the same if it were my team caught red handed.

you're right man. I'm starting to think that I might have done it.

I'm not reaching at anything. I am referencing the back and forth of the reports. One second someone said this. Next second they didn't say that.

    it's been a **** show.

    I'm already sick of this.

But the thing is, if it didn't make a difference, they wouldn't have wasted the time doing it to begin with. Its an NFL rule for a reason. Of course it wouldn't have made a difference against the Colts, the Pats would've won with their hands behind their backs. Who knows when else they've done it though, and if the games were much closer like the Ravens game, it would make a difference there.

It's not really about the balls anymore or wether they would have made a difference in game or not. That's not the issue. The issue is about two rules in place about the weight of the balls and not tampering with them after inspection. The question is have the Patriots broke those two rules, regardless of what the perceived effect is of the balls in game, have they broke two rules that are in place prohibiting the behaviour.

If if the answer is yes, then as this is the second offence, hammer them.
