Here is an audio of Phil Simms defending Ryan Tannehill, telling fans and media that he isn't the problem: http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/...uarterback-ryan-tannehill-20150213-story.html
Who is Simms arguing against here? Are there really a lot of fans saying Tannehill is the problem? It's nice to see him saying nice things about him, but I don't see any kind of storm swirling around Tannehill that Simms needs to calm.
I agree, he was yelling/screaming like most Miami fans are trying to run him out of town, which is far from the truth. He really needs to calm down. LOL
when Sims did one of our games down here he talked on inside the nfl after that he was shocked at how impatient our fanbase is, and was obviously mocking the fanbase. I to hope ryan tannehill can become as good as the so called ''2nd tier qbs'' Joe flacco, Russell Wilson, Andrew Luck and obviously Ben Rothlesberger...lol..2nd tier my ***, what a dumass statement by a football reporter.. all four of those qbs are great qbs.
I can't stand when Simms calls games, one of the most annoying/biased guys out there. Bronco's fans agree with me: http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/09/18/broncos-fans-dont-want-phil-simms-doing-their-games/
we could only wish to have one of this 2nd tier types he mentioned, any team would.. can he get there...ughhh idk..all five of those guys he mentioned as 2nd tier, and you can include romo in that quote, has a specific type of playmaking ability that ryan has not shown that he has in his makeup. wilson..Luck..Berger..Romo..Flacco...playmakers...
There is only a handful of people on here that literally blame everything on RT17 though. Some others feel he is a tad bit overrated (on here) and point out areas in his game where he could be better. I dont think that means we are trying to run RT17 out of town like Phil Simms is implying.
I know im in the last group, I point out flaws on the whole team. However, you think anybody that criticizes RT17 automatically means we are trying to run him out of town.
Wait a second, there's a few of you(or a certain one) out there that say nobody in the media says anything positive about Ryan, and that everyone in the media says he's below average? SMH As I said in that other thread... Stop listening to the local idiots that have no clue, and start listening to the guys that know what they're talking about, and that played in the league.
Phil Sims is a tier Two qb with a ring. We had a tier one qb in the same era with no rings. I think Ryan has show he has at least tier two ability. Lets build this guy a team and see what happens???
Before Tanny's rookie year I actually asked Simms about his potential and could starting him with a suspect OL would hurt his growth and perhaps stunt it and he was confident he would be fine, it liked him from the beginning . I was working a Pepsi NFL event he was at and I had to mic him up along with Barry Sanders, Jerry Jones, John Mara, Goodell and Trey Wingo...one of the cooler gigs I worked at.
Is wish it were that easy Phil. But the naysayers can't accept the fact that not everyone is Brady, Manning, Luck or Marino.
This fanbase is no harder on Ryan then any other fanbase is on a QB that has solidified his spot. Only 1 or 2 posters have I seen since the end of the season have been stating Ryan needs to be replaced. Simms is talking to be talking p, when it comes to that part.
Im on board with that! I would also like to see his pocket presence get better, thats pretty important IMO.
ryan tanehill has not shown the individual ability to be a tier two qb IF your tier two standard of play is Andrew Luck, Russell wilson, Ben berger, and Joe flacco...doesn't matter who he's playing with.. lets hope he can crack the top 10.
Simms rankings were all over the place, he had Peyton in tier 1, Peyton was one of the worst QB's in the league to end the season. I would take Ben Roethlisberger, Tony Romo, Andrew Luck and Russell Wilson over Peyton Manning going into the future.
find me someone, anyone who thinks that ryans individual qb play has been close to on par with Luck, Berger, Wilson, or Flacco? im not being braggadocios here, not going out on a limb.. Can he get to those so called 2nd tier qb's play is a silly question because those 4 mentioned are not 2nd tier by anyone with half a brain about the game..and ryan has a way to go to be a top tier qb.
There many on this board who believe Tannehill is a big part of the problem. I think they are not correct, but there are plenty of naysayers!
Here is the point he is making. If you ranked players as contributing to losses or problems with #1 being the worst player, Tannehill is in the 50s. Considering Tannehill part of the problem is laughable, hilarious, and just shows poor judgement.
Dude, RT17 has flaws though. Get over it. He is not a perfect QB no matter how bright your aqua and orange blinders are. I like RT17, I have him ranked as the 13th best QB in the NFL and growing but some of you make it seem like this guy is the best QB in the NFL and he has no faults. Which is both far from the truth. We were an 8-8 team. Nobody should be proud on this team and there isnt one great player on this team. Everyone needs to step up, including your golden boy RT17.
I think having Ryan ranked 13th overall is very fair, I have him in that vicinity myself. But I also see some areas that need improving and not afraid to point those things out. I think people confuse that with "not liking" him...Im excited he's my QB, and he is about to have a tremendous season hence the extension talks right now.
Let's see...wow, when I break it down as far as how many qbs I would take over Ryan long term wise, he's right there on the cusp of top 10, maybe even slipping in the back door.
I'll take psuedo-positive reinforcement when I can get it. Better than ESPN and others who don't even acknowledge Tannehill as even being a part of the draft class.
1. Aaron Rodgers (99) = 2. Tom Brady (97) = 3a. Ben Roethlisberger (96) = 3b. Andrew Luck (96) /\ 5a. Drew Brees (95) = 5b. Tony Romo (95) = 7. Russell Wilson (94) /\ 8. Peyton Manning (93) \/ 9. Joe Flacco (92) = 10a. Matt Ryan (91) = 10b. Philip Rivers (91) = 12. Matthew Stafford (90) = 13. Ryan Tannehill (89) /\ 14. Cam Newton (88) = 15a. Colin Kaepernick (86) = 15b. Nick Foles (86) /\ 17. Eli Manning (85) = 18. Andy Dalton (84) = 19. Teddy Bridgewater (83) /\ 20. Alex Smith (82) = 21. Carson Palmer (81)\/ 22. Derek Carr (80) /\ 23a. Jay Cutler (79) \/ 23b. Robert Griffin III (79) = 25. Zach Mettenberger (78) /\ 26. Sam Bradford (77) = 27. Blake Bortles (76) /\ 28. Ryan Fitzpatrick (75) = 29. Mike Glennon (73) = 30. EJ Manuel (72) /\ 31a. Johnny Manziel (70) /\ 31b. Geno Smith (70)= Projected QB's starting for their teams next year, rank, my personal overall of them going into next season... = - Staying in area of spot /\ - Trending Up \/ - Trending Down I guess since I dont have RT17 in the top five, this means I think he sucks and want him out of town.... Give me a break
I take manning out of the equation and look at it from a gm perspective building a team..so I move him one up in that list, however, and I know this isn't popular but I have kaepernik ahead...
The thing which continues to frustrate me about Tannehill is his continued inconsistency. He can look like one of the top QB's in the league one week and like one of the worst QB's the next week. I am certainly willing to see how next season unfolds in regards to him taking that next step up as an NFL QB. Especially since there are no better options in free agency or in this years draft. I just can't get all that excited about a QB who has gone up against Geno Smith four times in the past two years and been completely outplayed by the 31st B ranked QB on this list, the last two times the game was played on the Dolphins home field.
heres the thing, if he started to take upon himself to do a few other things he might be able to rectify that.
At this point anyone not named Rodgers is 2nd tier. Flacco, Wilson, Berger, are no better than Ryan, Romo, Rivers, they've just been on better teams. Tannehill isn't quite on their level but he's not far behind.
Just out of curiosity, why would you rank kaepernick ahead of Tannehill? I've watched a decent amount of 49ers games and the guy never stands out to me. He is a better rusher/scrambler, but as far as pure passing goes i feel tannehill is far superior (even with the lack of a deep ball). Im a pro tannehill guy, and i have him around 14/15 going into next season, lumped in with guys like stafford and newton. Hes well above kap in my opinion.
I love you man, I really do. But please stop betting your bank account on us. You are a jinx! http://www.thephins.com/forums/show...-my-whole-bankroll-on-US-next-week&highlight=
we have a different definition of 2nd tier...I'm confident I can win superbowls with Luck, wilson, berger, Flacco and their not named rogers..ryan isn't close to that level of play yet.
