I understand he has a tight leash around his waist, but, come on...really? This guy is still in college and looks like this? I'm getting bust vibes from him although I could be wrong and have been wrong before.
*waits patiently for DJ to join the conversation. Spoiler Not gonna lie, the kid looks like a black Kenny Powers
Doesn't look that bad for a QB. Obviously something that he could work to improve. Reminds me of Ben Roethlisberger.
It's enough that teams are going to ask him about his eating habits to make sure he isn't another Jared Lorenzen or someone like that. But it's not enough to concern teams, IMO. Believe it or not I think teams are more concerned when the QB takes his shirt off and he's rocked up like a stud.
Aaron Rodgers dont look "fat" per say in that photo and even if you think he is, there is a difference between an established veteran in his early 30's and a kid who isnt even in the big leagues yet putting on weight in a scary way.
There are signs all over his body from a lack of gym time and poor eating habits...I've been commenting on it all last season and I didn't need to see him shirtless to know it was poor.. Imo, this is what you have, a kid who has played two sports his whole life, pitcher in baseball, Qb in football, in baseball he ain't spending anytime in the gym because thats the pitchers mentality, but in his mind because he's playing two sports he's doing enough from a physical standpoint..which is bs...in baseball all he does is sit on his *** for 7 innings and take some cuts with a bat.. He's obviously neglected his physique and he doesn't have the symmetrical balance genetically to mess around his whole career, I can see that he's underdeveloped in the teardrop part of his quad, his calves, his lats, and I can see where fat will distribute on this physique, in five years if he keeps on his current pace he will be walking around with belly and *** fat cause that where all his bad weight goes, it doesn't distribute symmetrically like on a dion Jordan.. It's no secret I don't like the guy, and this is one of the reasons why, but he's a highly skilled qb and can get away with it for now because of his youth, maybe he'll change and get it, but watch out, this dude looks like he's grown up on Grammys southern cooking, hard habit to break, and there really isn't any excuse that a 21 year old prof athlete should look this way, it's pure laziness, uneducated and a lack of will power..
Agreed on all counts. I always thought he seemed spoonfed "metaphorically", now I see he has been spoonfed metaphorically and literally.
Imagine Rodgers wearing a tight elastic band around his waist and inhaling before a throw. Just sayin.
Merely pointing out that most quarterbacks in the NFL today aren't as athletically built or gifted as someone like a Colin Kaepernick or Marcus Mariota in terms of physical traits. I think Tom Brady, Ben Roethlisberger, Rodgers, both Mannings, etc. have proven that they don't need to be to be damn good. So, while Jameis isn't exactly a Greek God in terms of physical prowess, does he really need to be? He's pretty good as is.
And my point is, all those guys came into the NFL in great shape(except for Brady who was 'awkward shaped' to say the least) whereas, Winston looks like he will be coming in clearly overweight. Comparing a picture of a proven veteran against a picture of a young 'full of himself' kid who hasnt been drafted yet are BIG differences. And you said he is "pretty good as is". Well yea, but thats college, I have seen PLENTY of great college QBs suck in the NFL. JS.
Lol ok bud, ignore the picture. We will see how he pans out in the NFL when he doesnt get spoonfed everything and when his work ethic will come into question. Jamarcus Russell and Ryan Leaf both came into NFL with questionable work ethics and look at where they are now...
I don't think anyone's questioned Winston's work ethic in regards to being a student of the game. Nor have I heard anyone comment negatively about him regarding this picture.
1) No college QBs work ethic is ever questioned until around the time when the combine hits. A lot of great college players with crappy work ethics are able to get by at their schools unquestioned because of their talent. 2) http://mweb.cbssports.com/nfl/eye-on-football/25069152/look-fat-jameis-winston-isnt-actually-fat Also, type in google "Jameis Winston fat" and you will say a **** load of media outlets bringing this up, I gave you one source above.
This, from your source, is at the bottom of the page with comments from George Whitfield saying he looks bad because the leash and says he's in good shape now. Seems akin to the weird Eddie Lacy picture from Packers training camp.
I think winston is just a natural, cerebrally and mechanically, so he probably hasn't had to work to much on the craft as the average aspiring pro athlete, he also plays a position where he can get away with it..film rat and not a gym one.. personally, I can't find a lot of weaknesses in his game or his presence amongst his teammates and its effect..he's legit blue chipper, but he rubs me the wrong way on many levels..His way of showing a lack of humility and self awareness disturbs me..
Merely pointing out that he's got a similar build to other "soft" QBs like Brady, Peyton Manning, Rodgers, etc. I think the picture with him wearing the leash is overblown.
its overblown because it makes him look like his belly is bigger than it is, however, he's soft ro, theres no question about it, i can see the years of poor nutrition and gym time..better take on a new lease..
Judging off that picture I would say, Wilson, Luck, Tannehill, Alex Smith, Kaepernick, Derek Carr, Johnny Manziel, Andy Dalton, Aaron Rodgers, Bridgewater, Ponder, Flacco, and I could keep going but you should get the idea.
So you've run the gamut from elite (Wilson, Luck) onto to downright bad (Dalton, Manziel). That means what, exactly with respect to Winston's physique? His play?
No. Just no. The question was "Who has better physiques in the NFL then Winston?" That was what I was responding too. Quick question: Are you a Florida State fan? This would answer a lot of questions of mine.
not going there cause thats not what I was talking about, the point that does stand is what does his lack of understanding about how to take care of his body mean in the long term or about his maturity.
Also note photo was taken in mid-January. Relevant because that's probably what he's going to look like when he's comfortable, but it's not what he's going to look like at the Combine.
He's young enough where a 6 week plan can get him looking alright, but it won't fool me, there's one thing you can't hide when it comes to work ethic, and that's your most important tool, your body.
dude can play qb though, if it were any other position id be harder, but it aint..its just one more thing for me not to like him..lol
My biggest issue with Jameis Winston is the 3 AM phone call you will get when he gets himself into trouble again, and he doesn't have Florida State and the State's DA covering things up for him.
and this kind of stuff is why it all ties together, heres why, if you have a player that is a complete gym rat and understands the nutritional aspect of his body, thats a major part of his focus and pride, when you don't care about both aspects, you have a lot more time on your hands, and when it comes to some of the red flags attached to winston, that raises the risk factor..
For as many times as you've stated it's not a big deal, I think you're trying to find sneaky ways of making it into a big deal.
It's all fun and games until you get that 3AM phone call saying your star quarterback just robbed a Krispy Kreme.
Lets all remember that Ryan Leaf had all the skills to be a 'great' NFL QB, but his problem was his peanut sized brain. I catch a lot of similarities in Famous Jameis.
