Sounds like Dragic wants to play for a big city. I don't know what the Lakers and Knicks have to offer, I don't think either are willing to give up their lottery pick.
Shabazz, Deng, Birdman, Chalmers, Cole are all likely being offered, plus the 2017 pick. I'm sure the Suns are asking for Whiteside and Riley is just laughing.
Yeah but that's how Morey is lol he was willing to trade for Dwight even though Dwight didn't want to play in Houston, he wanted Brooklyn, then he ended up in LA where he didn't want to be, and then he changed his mind and said okay Houston isn't that bad....
Apparently the Knicks have the Pelicans' first round pick to offer for Dragic, which at the moment is a lottery pick.. the only thing is... the Knicks want the tank to continue.. the Lakers want the tank.. Dragic helps both win a few games.
Some Heat fans are trying to come up scenarios where we keep Wade/Deng/Whiteside/Bosh plus add Dragic... ah pipe dreams..
Well if Dragic is saying that the only three teams he'd re-sign with are the Heat, Knicks and Lakers, and the Suns don't have a whole hell of a lot of hope of making it through the West this year, then why would the bidding go terribly high? It's basically a demand driven trade and the demand is limited to three teams.
That's actually an interesting dynamic. Dragic would effectively kill their tank. Riley will really have to work his magic on this one though. Aside from the guys the Heat will not be trading, I'm not sure what else they have that the Suns would want. Napier, Ennis, and their 2017 1st are probably their best chips and none of those are really all that appealing. Maybe Chalmers is a cheaper option that could fill the hole Dragic would create? It's actually probably not a bad fit for him. The only other names I can think of are McBob and Bird, but McBob gives them no immediate help and Bird is probably making more than he's worth. You can't ever underestimate Riley though. The key to this would be finding out how to get Dragic to tell everyone but Miami to F off.
I think riley will try to sell Shabazz Napier being a developmental rookie, a future first round pick, and Bird. I dont want to get rid of Bird but eh, the Suns are looking for depth at the center and Bird can run up and down the court like the Suns do. Still need to get rid of Cole though. Dragic does not want to be a rotation point guard, he wants 37 MPG.
Dragic's issue isn't minutes. It's that he's been asked to play in a 3 guard rotation which has him spending more time at the 2 and even some at the 3 with all three guys on the floor at the same time. Last year he was 3rd team all NBA at PG. Phoenix isn't allowing him to be his best, which not only sucks from a professional/fun standpoint, but also potentially hurts you in contract negotiations. There's a lot of permutations where we could get it done. The Heat got basically ignored as a possibility this morning by Mike&Mike and Marc Stein, even though we're one of only 3 teams that are known preferred destinations.
Well Mike and Mike hates everything about Miami and they're Knicks' fans, that show is a very biased radio show, I rather listen to Dan Patrick's radio show personally. Golic is a bitter Dolphins' hater because Shula no like him! Green is a Jets' fan, they both hate Miami. Of course we're ignored.
Stein now reporting that Celtics are bidding on Dragic even though they aren't one of the preferred destinations. I don't understand these teams throwing assets away on a guy who doesn't want to be there, but so be it.
Ainge is an ******* like that, remember when he claimed victory for winning the Mike Dunleavy "sweepstakes" over Riley? This guy is a clown.
I also remember when Riley publicly told him to shut the "F" up about LeBron and he ran away, tail between his legs.
When ever Riley/Heat are going after something, you can count on the Celtics to try to get involved, it's almost guaranteed. Ainge does this purposely, I know it.
Man people on my twitter feed going nuts over this Dragic thing. I think they think of him as a long term answer.
He can be...at the right price. if not..he has plenty of value. He is a really good piece to acquire.
Just imagine how much better the offense will look with Dragic handling the ball, Bosh setting picks, having Wade move freely on the court and Hassanity controlling the paint. We'd be dangerous.
With Melo out for season, Knicks could trade for Dragic now and the tank remains. Dragic wont single handidly help the Knicks win, but with Melo they both would have made a run at a few wins.
Its a nightmare for me to think the Knicks could potentially have dragic carmelo and okafor together next season
What are the Knicks going to trade to get him? They can't and won't trade their #1 this year. A 2017 pick? The Heat and Lakers can both beat that.
They have the Pelicans first round pick this year as well as their own. So that means they have two lottery picks. They can just trade the Pelicans pick if they wish.
You sure about this. I don't see this anywhere. I see that the Rockets have the Pellies pick for the Asik trade
Per RealGM reporters, Wizards and Heat discussing Norris Cole trade, but so far Heat's price "too high". LOL But seriously, if other teams are interested in Cole, perhaps we can facilitate a 3 team trade that helps us get dragic
I tend to doubt that for one reason.... they explored signing Isaiah Thomas, and he and his agent were prepared to go to war vs. the Heat over $1mil a year..... I also know that they went after Dragic first...this popped up as a result.
Woj now saying that Suns more interested in trading with Rockets, Celtics, Kings, etc., than any team on Dragic's list. Since Woj's source on this is clearly McDonough or somebody else in the front office it's a shot at Dragic and a message for other teams to step up. At the end of the day I can't imagine any of those teams trade real assets for a half season rental. There's being bold and being stupid. Morey and Ainge might be bold, but they're not stupid (well, that stupid)
Reeeeally interested to see if Dragic would actually turn down that 5th year to go to a new team. Dwight and LeBron only guys that have really done that, right?
The Rockets currently own the Pelicans first round pick. And even if the Knicks wanted to (they wouldn't), they could not trade their own pick because they traded their pick last year in the Bargnani deal and cannot trade consecutive 1st round picks.
