Yes, I struggle to see why or how they keep Mike at this point.

Then ask yourself, what percent of the Fins 3rd round selections have become consistent starters for us ?

How do we know this was mostly MT and not Hickey? Hickey might well be getting overlooked here.

They had to give up a third round pick to trade for Stills. It makes no sense drafting another WR in the first two rounds of this years draft.

Brasfin is saying IF they get rid of Wallace. In that case, WR is still on the table, though I wouldn't trade up for one.. I'm now more in favor of trading down to get another 2nd round pick with our 1st.

Look at the way he goes up for those underthrown passes. Good trade.

Unless if they cut Mike Wallace I don't see the team drafting a WR now. So 1st and 2nd round picks could be MLB, CB, G, or S. Trae Waynes or Kendricks. Maybe a guard in the 2nd round. Still hope they sign one more free agent.

Didn't realise that had been said. The only definition I'd heard is that Hickey has final say on roster. What about this indicates MT?

They might go for a RB... Todd Gurley maybe if he's there. Or else OL.

I don't recall Hickey trading for anyone last season, while Tannenbaum has a huge history of doing it...

The fins have made it so hard to not be negative in the past, but so far im giddy over the new look / feel on paper of this team..

Image this if we can make it work out...

On Offense. Still, Landry, Wallace, and as your 3 wideouts.. Clay and Jordan as your tight ends. Miller in the backfield... Also focus heavy on Defense / Offensive line in draft and grab a safety / MLB in freeagency and we got a stout team!

    Well away from here
The could thing is we get Ellerbe off the books without getting a big contract back in return. I don't know how much it saves, but we save money and it gives us more flexibility moving forward.

About Damn time we got out from under some these ridiculous contracts.

Get Mike to. Restructure a bit anD we have more money at our disposal which in reality should have some earmarked for our Qb cause we are going to need it. I'd honestly let Clay walk now and get the 2nd rounder in return, then turn around and use it. Move a third for a receiver with speed and then get a 2nd back. Love it.

Screw that! Work with Mike to restructure his contract a bit and lets roll with some sickness as our pass catching threats. Mike, Stills, Landry, Matthews, Clay, Jordan! ooo-weee!

Can someone explain the cap savings by trading Ellerbe instead of cutting him. Isn't it the same??

Since we were gonna cut him isn't this a 3rd rounder for Stills?

They were going to cut him post-june, meaning the money would not have been available now to make deals. Trading him they saved roughly $5.7M right now they can use towards other signings.

In essence. Dolphins get Stills and $5.7M, for Ellerbe and a 3rd rounder. It is a very good trade.

Here you go - this Boltsfromtheblue.com article ask whether the Chargers should trade for Stills. It lists stats and a video.

Here's the text for those too lazy to click a link (what's the world coming to?) :)

Kenny Stills ran 4.38 & has had 17 catches of 20+ yards in the last 2 years. ELEVEN have been 40+. He’s 22. God damn right you trade for him

And here's an nflspinzone.com article stating why the Saints shouldn't be trading him at all - it's long and detailed so I'm not going to copy and paste it. Click the link.

Stills was ranked 2nd in the league behind Randall Cobb in DVOA in 2014:

    http://www.footballoutsiders.com/stats/wr

Yards per target in 2013 were 12.6, in 2014 10.9. That's about what Mike Wallace used to do in Pittsburgh in 2010 and 2011.

    This is a steal, folks.

We need to keep him and make this offense explosive. While stills and jarvis are good, both are very young. We need atleast one vet that's been consistent. Not to mention if we keep clay and cameron, both have been injury prone. Keep wallace this year and cut him next if his numbers don't explode. He'd only save 5.6 million this year anyways. While that could be a vet guard or FS, I'd much rather keep wallace and have one of the scariest offenses in the league.

The crazy thing is that when I read some comments by Saints fans, a lot of them thought it was a steal for them. It's bizarre. Stills is very good.

The Dolphins save $5.7M by trading Dannell Ellerbe, and now Steve Ross is off the hook for the $3M he was guaranteed.

More cap relief this way and it is instant relief as opposed to waiting for June for it. There was guaranteed money owed to Ellerbe that is also saved now. You also get a cheap WR for two years who is ascending and was damn good his first 2 years. No guarantees you'd get the same in the draft for a 3rd rounder.

I think it is a good trade. Not an excellent trade because they had to give up a 3rd round pick. Was hoping it would be a 4th round pick. Better make good use of getting rid of Ellerbe though. There should be at least one more free agent signing now. Otherwise they could have just cut him and probably sent a 4th rounder instead.
