Btw, twitter rumor is the Vikings pick we got back is their first 5th rounder (they had 2), which is the first pick in the fifth round.

With that 5th rd pick I'd be very happy with a quality backup OL or DB, any position really. Maybe a Tayo Fabuluje, Lynden Trail or Justin Coleman, maybe a Robert Myers, Shaq Mason or Jamil Douglas, PJ Williams, DE Preston Smith would be a steal if he slips to the 5th rd. I still think that Frank Clark is an interesting DE, off field issues aside.

I'd prefer a field stretching WR, I dont give a rats @$$ that's he's not choir boy enough for our failed lame duck head coach

Don't have to be a starter to impact the team.

Guys.. don't forget that with Brandon Marshall to the Jets and Wallace to the Vikings, that makes it a LOT more likely White or Cooper fall to Miami. We really have to worry about the Raiders and Cleveland (who might go defense). Well, who knows, but this actually helps our draft, now that WR in the 1st is back in play.

The Dolphins just pulled off a coup today at the downfield receiver position, in terms of efficiency of production and salary. Whoever is orchestrating these moves has a keen understanding of maximizing talent in a salary cap environment. I'm more optimistic about how this team is being run than I have been in the last 20 years.

Word is that Wallace wasnt willing to restructure in a trade which made getting compensation difficult .And apparently he is not happy with the trade.

Maybe so. But he's not the only receiver who was unhappy. Gibson went to bat for him after the Jets game, Hartline and Matthews were widely rumored to have issues w the staff, Clay is looking to bolt. Wallace was far from alone, he was just the only guy with the balls (contract) to blatantly make it known. Personally I see Philbin as the common denominator in a slew of riffs w talented players. What he's done to earn the benefit of the doubt escapes me.

I think the Raiders will get one of them. Makes since they got a young quarterback. I wouldn't put it past the Jets to pick Mariota or Bowles might want to get a defensive player with that pick. Cleveland has a number of positions to fill but with the uncertainty of Josh Gordon I could see them going with White or Cooper.

All I know is every year we send good/solid players packing. Marshall, Vontae, Ocho. Dansby, Burnett, Bush, Fasano, S Smith. Odrick, Starks, Wallace, maybe Clay. But Philbin is still here.

FTR I defend JP when people say he sucks and should be fired but for those who think he sucks, why bash the players who seem to agree with you? Especially good players who've shown they can play and play well in this league. Man I trade Philbin for Marshall, Vontae, Dansby, Soliai etc in a friggin heart beat.

I think this move kind of shows that maybe Wallace and this team never really buried the hatchet as some reports indicated they did. You just had to get the feeling throughout the offseason that everyone was avoiding the Mike Wallace topic. I don't think the air ever really got cleared. Today, we now have solid evidence that this regime no longer wanted Wallace. The fact he said that he was willing to restructure but that he wouldn't consider any sort of a pay cut didn't help his cause.

Like it or not, the team and Mike Wallace obviously didn't see eye to eye. I don't believe that Tannehill liked Wallace any more than Philbin did. This wasn't one guy removing a player that stood up to him. No sir. This was a bad apple who showed his true colors. He broke a cardinal rule and never humbled himself enough to appease his coach or QB. In my eyes, Miami's hand was forced. Wallace didn't want to be here. He wasn't willing to give up money to help the team (understandable) so after all is said and done the team traded him for pennies on the dollar.

Okay, now we pick up the pieces and move forward. The team has cleared quite a bit of cap space and has gotten itself out from under two players who didn't play particularly well given the expectation of the fans.

I don't care who you are, when you wake up tomorrow the Miami Dolphins won't have to worry about the contracts of Ellerbe or Wallace.

However that happened. It's a good thing.

Wallace quitting on the team after we scored a TD is also really really weird. Guys quit on their team on rare occasion, but I've never seen that act before. Yeah, something deeper was going on, and we got confirmation of that today.

If Im a Bills, Jets, Pats fan I'm loving that Miami traded Wallace and got peanuts in return.

Same as I'm a Dolphin fan who's happy to see Revis, Wilfork, Browner leave NE even though it "cleared cap space" bc the bottom line is cap space doesn't win games. I'm pissed that NY added Revis, Cromartie, Marshall, regardless of salary.

Every year we add a handful of good players and lose a handful of food players. So it's no wonder why we keep winning 7-8 games.

    Good point.

I like Cameron but let's call him what he is, a receiver playing TE w a scary concussion history. A marginal upgrade over Clay at best. Stills is a good, cheap pickup but he's not a replacement for Wallace, Hartline, Gibson, he's one guy who put up good numbers as an afterthought to defenses who had Graham and Colston to worry about.

I'm not trying to be a downer here but damn, it seems like we are building for 2016-17-18 and I'm not sure that people who are applauding these moves realize it.

Hells yeah. Matthews has a TON of potential. Buuuut. Again. He's another guy who's made it known that he's not happy w the staff and how he's being used. We bash MW but Matthews didn't even dress for the Jets game, for "violating team rules". Should we get rid of him too?

Ok. We trade Wallace for a 5th then use a 1st or 2nd round pick on a WR, robbing Peter to pay Paul. Meanwhile we have no MLB, FS, or CB to pair with Grimes.

I like that we're clearing cap space but that's gonna help down the road, not this year.

Ask again when the team is done doing all their moves and drafting all their rookies, not right in the middle of the offseason.

Btw, which player that was let go, outside of Wallace, is the team going to have a harder time to replace their production? Answer is, none. Team got rid of plenty of fat, let them now build muscle before you judge and get all negative.
