We were going to cut Mike Wallace, we should be happy we got anything at all.

Would have been nice to recoup the 3rd from the Stills trade, but a 5th is something - if we were planning on cutting him and Ellerbe, we actually got a return on it which is not terrible. I think we should definitely target a WR in the draft though. Shame we likely are just a tad to far back for White or Cooper. DGB scares the **** out of me. We do not have a locker room or coach that can give him the structure he needs, guy is a total lose cannon. We cannot afford to take a chance on someone like that at this stage.

If we get back Clay, IMO, we should wait to see if a WR will fall to us at 14... now that the Vikings no longer have a big need at WR, it's possible Cooper falls to us. If he doesn't, I'd go with Waynes, Kendricks, or a trade down, then go with WR in the second round.

With the way the O-line situation is at the moment, hard to imagine both of them being on a field at the same time a whole lot. Neither is a capable blocker.

Not happy at seeing Wallace leave. No one has explained how the offense will replace his TD production. There will be another learning curve for the offense with all the new faces. Not as bad as last year since some will already know it (Tanny, Miller, Landry and I hope Clay) but I expect a slow offensive start to the season.

I'll wait till after the draft and final cuts before I hit any panic buttons though. I would give a B- grade so far.

Yeah, that makes a lot of sense. Decker, Marshall, and White or Cooper. Your offense is going to be real deadly with "Fitzmagic" like you referred to him. Forget about other positions. It's not like Marshall has a history of being frustrated with mediocre QBs and would complain about not getting the ball often enough on top of it all.

Almost none of Wallace's tds came due to his elite speed, which is what he's supposed to do. Any of our guys can catch a slant or a fade. He had some one handers and that crazy bobbling grab against Minnesota, but it's not too big of a stretch to think stills and Cameron can make up that ground. And if we keep clay, easy.

Landry had 3 tds that were vastly more impressive than most of Wallace's, IMO. The juke move against buffalo, the toe tapper up the sideline against sd, the jump ball against Green Bay.

I remember the plays Wallace didn't make more than the ones he did. Not keeping his foot in bounds against the pats week 1, the pathetic attempt against the jets on a deep post, etc

My lord thats a horrible trade for us. I get that it helps our salary cap situation but... damn... that's our #1 deep threat for a 5th. thats a tough pill to swallow.

#1 deep threat? It's not like he and Tannehill connected deep very often. We were going to cut him. We had no leverage. We got something... I'm not sure why we had to throw in a 7th, but owell. Glad Wallace is gone. Hopefully, the team can revamp the receiving corps with more complete WR's who fit the scheme.

I'm surprised so many are against this trade, and I liked Mike Wallace.

He was going to be cut anyway. The fact we were able to get anything back for him is a success.

that last few days should curb your anticipation some, we've really made some impressive moves froma front office and scouting standpoint, the removal of wasted salary on top of the elite additions, man, I mean I wanted to see what wallace and Tannehill looked like next year, but the salary was just to big and Suh made him take the hit..not worried though..if we can resign clay, were in real good shape...

Gronk is a terrific blocker, he's on Fasano's level that way. Clay is average at best and Cameron is worse. They're not going to be a pick your poison run/pass type duo the way Gronk and Hernandez were.

I think the diff is, why I'm so out of the mainstream on this is that I wasn't a big fan of the Suh signing. And it seems to me, WADR to my fellow board members, that the Suh signing has kind of caused many to give the front office the benefit of the doubt w/ regard to other moves and the offseason as a whole. If I'm wrong my apologies, just sharing a perspective.

Assuming we get Charles Clay back, or offensive weapons look like:

    QB: Ryan Tannehill, Matt Moore
    HB: Lamar Miller, ???
TE: Charles Clay, Jordan Cameron, Dion Sims
WR: Jarvis Landry, Kenny Stills, Rishard Matthews, ???

I feel like we are a piece or two away from an extremely talented offense, as far as weapons go. I am just not sure what, or who those pieces would be.

Wonderful. The Dolphins had the second-best rushing offense in the league least year when it wasn't facing predominantly nickel defenses with two tight ends on the field.

I was never down on Wallace like so many people on this forum were. To me he was the best WR on the roster. It certainly isn't his fault that Ireland signed him to a contract many on here was thought was for too much money.

Hopefully Stills can come in and provide the same type production Wallace did.

So you respect guys that are the highest paid on their respective teams and walk off the field and quit on a touchdown play cause the ball ain't going to him? Respect? Are you flipping kidding me?

I'm a Wallace fan first of all and I spent a ton of time defending him here, and I'm OK with this move. it's painfully obvious that the only reason they did this was so they didn't lose him for free, because him getting dropped was going to happen 110%. MT even said he was looking toward 2016... this was a play for that. You can't just assume they don't have a plan here, when it appears we are really just getting started. Oh no! We gave up the 7th from SF!!! Big deal. The irony is huge right now. I'm surprised they got anything for Wallace in the first place. A complete misfit in this offense, and a bad attitude from the get go... albeit talented as hell, but that contract was bananas. He is purging the Ireland smell and bloated contracts from this team, all while giving us an actual identity on both sides of the ball. Not a single person on this board saw the (necessary) overhaul that was coming. All the moves so far have been anywhere from solid to very good. Very psyched to see what happens now with TE and WR moving forward.

He was in the top ten in TD receptions in the NFL last year and because of his ability to get behind the secondary, he usually had two men in the secondary covering him. This opened up the field for others to make plays.

If you were disappointed in his play, perhaps you just don't understand why he was signed by Miami in the first place. It certainly wasn't his fault Tannehill has a problem throwing the deep ball.

As far as him being overpaid. All high profile free agents are overpaid. That is just the reality of free agency. As much as I love the signing of Suh, the fact is that there is no player on any football team worth $20 million dollars a year. Unfortunately that was what it took to sign Suh and a few years ago the Dolphins made Wallace their priority signing in free agency and they ended up paying him more money than he was worth. That is called free agency.

Love the move. He was getting cut anyway. I'm sure the Dolphins shopped him as best they could.Nobody was going to give much at all as they knew miami was going to cut him, then they could vegotiate with him directly without losing anything at all. Vikes were smart. They avoided any other team talking to him and actually offered miami something now. Hey, they got rid of the contract and personality, and picked up a pick for it! Better than not getting anything.

    Suh is.

So tired of people acting like it's out of their ****ing pocket. Getting so old. The way they worked his contract is actually pretty brilliant TBH.

The difference between Wallace and Suh in terms of "Pay to Performance" ratio is so astronomically different, it's not even in the same universe.
and yes, that is taking into 100% consideration both Ryan Tannehill, and the fact that Suh hasn't played a snap yet.

I NEVER said it was coming out of my pocket. All I stated is that no player is worth that type of money, but I realize that this is what free agency has created in all the major sports.

I certainly don't begrudge any player for getting at much money as he can during his playing days.

If you think he is worth $20 million a year, fine. As much as I love watching football, I have never thought of it as anything but a game. I just find it absurd that people that play games are so highly paid and individuals who provide more substance to our society in their jobs, frequently make less in their lifetime than Suh will make playing one game next season.

I understand that is just the way things are today and while I accept it, that still doesn't mean it makes any sense at all.

This is going to be great when Tannehill still can't connect on the deepball. Meanwhile Bridgewater will tear it up with wallace. But the fault will not fall on Stills for the deep ball issues.

Well, there is a HUGE difference between 1. discussing NFL pay-rates as a whole, relative to the rest of the world, and 2. Saying Suh is "not worth 20 mil/year" relative to the rest of the NFL

I can't disagree with your stance on 1, although I believe when most people are going back and forth on this subject I believe they are referring to #2, which I could not possibly disagree more with.

There are plenty of players worth that money.

Not sure how you're determining value, but when you factor in what it takes to win and how much money teams bring in, Many players are probably worth more than that, but the owners have found an ingenious (and kinda evil) way to limit their payout.

Did you watch any tape? or are you just butthurt over Wallace?

I wanted to keep Wallace as well, but can't be upset he's gone and at the fact that we managed to get SOMETHING out of it. He had no fight in him here.... pair that with the attitude and apparent lack of effort to finish plays that was GLARING. Way too much money for that. He wasn't going to budge on the $ so he was going to be dropped no matter what happened. They are prepping hard for 2016 while still making 2015 a force to be reckoned with. Wallace may do good in Minny. A lot of players seem to save face and perform better when they get a swift kick in the *** from their team and join a different one. Either way, Stills was a great pick up, fiery player, has ups, speed, fights for passes, and is a microscopic fraction of Wallaces cost. I still think they have a big plan for another WR that will make losing Wallace sting a lot less.

Yesir. he's capable of a lot, he just didn't do it here. It's very similar to marshall, who dropped like 7 tds here and had the audacity to hate on our qbs after. I personally hope we never "pay" wr ever again. Give me the young and hungry Landry and stills types all day.

Oh waaah. I'm sure if twenty million people were willing to pay to watch whatever the heck it is YOU do for a living that you'd be like, "no thanks, you can watch me. for freeeeee".

And no, free agency didn't create this crazy money. Ugh. The demand for the sport did. This isn't boxing. We don't pay the player. We pay the NFL. Now, if you'd rather all the profits stay with the owners, then I don't know what to say cause that's even worse. If you have a problem with NFL salaries, then throw your Directv box out the window or something.
