Most sources around the league are reporting that the Miami Dolphins are most interested in taking either CB Trae Waynes out of Michigan State, WR Philip Dorsett of the University of Miami or WR DeVante Parker from the University of Louisville with the 14th pick in the draft. Just wondering if you guys think we should give Tannehill another target as he starts to progress and move forward into a year where many predict he will get paid big money. Or if you think the better option would be an elite corner like Waynes who would fill a hole in an otherwise stacked Miami defence and turn it from a great unit to an elite one. However, other positions like LB and Guard still need to be addressed.

if they go WR Dorsett would be nice. I rather they get perryman and dorsett.... address ILB and WR...

Where are you getting "most sources?" I would looooove it they were right and we got Waynes.

I'm in the minority but I think of all the "holes" on this team, CB is the least important. Not just because Taylor will be fine as the #2 and McCain will be fine in nickel, but also the position impacts our win/loss record less than other positions. All we need at the #2 CB spot is average talent. I'd much rather come out of this draft with a game changing WR, S, RB, LB or hell even another DT.

Imagine for a minute taking a really good rookie DT to pair with SUH. We'd have cheap talent to offset Suh's contract (some) while the young guy learns under Suh.

Is there a game changing S in this draft? I don't think there is.

For me I think Trae could be an exceptional CB for years to come. I would love to get him.

Yep. Grimes is 32 and bc of his size I think that when he begins to slide he's going to fall off a cliff. I dont trust Taylor to stay healthy, Davis and Thomas are coming off of ACLs. I don't study draft prospects much but if there's a physical, off corner type who can step in and play available I think the Dolphins would be foolish to pass on him.

CB should still be a high priority in the offseason, be it through FA or the draft, IMO. We have very little depth at CB... Grimes is the only proven starter at the boundary, and while I think Jamar Taylor can get the job done as the number two, we pretty much have no one else behind him.

Will Davis might not be healthy to start the season and after him we have a bunch of nobodies in Sammy Seamster, TJ Heath, and Lowell Rose. If (knock on wood) something happens to Grimes, we are completely screwed. We all saw with the Jets what happens to a defense if you have no one at the CB position... it doesn't matter if you have an elite DL if your CBs can't cover for longer than 2 seconds.

Don't forget McCain, but not sure how he would be opposite Grimey as opposed to slot.

Yeah, I'm counting him as the slot.. but if someone like Grimes goes down, things get ugly, because I think only Taylor can play the nickle as well. Then we'd have Taylor as number 1, McCain number 2 and who else? Or Taylor CB1, McCain slot, then someone like Lowell Rose would be the CB2, or Davis if he's healthy... that spells trouble, IMO.

I'd go wr over cb. Waynes was never thought to be elite until he turned in a great 40 time. If the three wr's are gone along with Gurley. I think we haveto trade back and pick up a Perriman, Goldman or McKinney.

This draft is more topheavy than a German mail order bride post WWII. We can still get top talent through round 3.

Yes it was a pectoral. He'd be our #2 slot corner and probably the #1 dime back. Assuming all are healthy.

Trade down and add a pick or two and then draft this guy:http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/...t-uconn-cb-byron-jones-runs-a-43-40-yard-dash

I don't think people are realizing how rare a prospect this kid is. To find a world class athlete like this who has elite character and intelligence doesn't happen often.

If all the Dolphins got out of this draft was a great LG, Byron Jones, and WR Mike Conley, I would be OK with it. Conley is another freak athlete with great size, elite character and intelligence.

Bucky Brooks and Lance Zierlein have us taking DeVante Parker in their latest mock drafts, while Charles Davis and Daniel Jeremiah have us selecting Trae Waynes. I wouldn't mind either as Parker gives us a slightly bigger receiver to use as a red-zone threat while Waynes is a slightly larger CB who's 40 time was eye popping.

In an AFC East that features, Sammy Watkins, Brandon Marshall, Percy Harvin, Eric Decker and then whoever Brady decides to throw it to we need a legit man-to-man receiver and can't rely on Davis or Taylor to play no.2 (McCain would only play Nickel). However, if Waynes is not available then I say address CB either through free agency or hope that Taylor can progress and select Parker to give Tannehill even more targets as he accounts for the loss of one of his go-to guys Charles Clay. If neither are free then I say we trade down and get more picks for later in the draft.

He seems more like a 3rd to me, mostly because there are some more proven receivers ahead of him.

I don't think a DT is out of the realm of possibility. There was essentially a three-man rotation last year and the guys behind Suh and Mitchell were either UDFA's or were bouncing between practice squads. We're told there's hope those players (Johnson, Francis) will take a next step to contributing but who knows if they actually do that?

Trae Waynes is a pass interference machine. He ran fast at the combine and his stock went up. He's Brandon Browner with speed. No Thanks.

I want him. He's not the top cb just because he's fast, but it sure helps that he has close to Darrel Green makeup speed.

I agree, Grimes will start to fall off soon and quickly, at 5 foot 10 it's not like he can rely on his length when his hips start to pack in! If Waynes is still there at 14 then he'll be a Dolphin next year.

He's a pass interference machine. All he does he grab people. Brandon Browner with speed. Revis and Sherman don't have Darrel Green makeup speed and they're the best corners in football.

9 penalties in 2 seasons. But he also only gave up 2 TD's. I could live with those. Especially if he can be coached up to not grab.

Again, you're talking about drafting 1st round talent solely to be depth this year. Its just not necessary. I'm all for BPA, but there's a good chance there will be a as good or better WR, RB, or even DT available when we pick which are all going to help us win more games than a CB.

Whatever. The issue isn't coaching. He struggles making quick twitch adjustments and grabs people.

With speed like his he has plenty of quick twitch. His tendency to grab would most likely be un-learned at the NFL level with good coaching. This kids ceiling is higher than any other CB in the draft, IMO. To dismiss him because he received 9 penalties in 2 yrs is absurd.

You speak as if players coming out of college are finished products... he has all the physical makeup of a good corner, seems pretty smart and is already a pretty good player at the college level, even with his flaws... if he can be coached up, I think he will be good at the NFL level as well.
