I'm curious on what ppl think the Dolphins should do with the first round pick??? If you dont want a running back or a DE the 1st pick isnt for you... Glenn Dorsey doesnt fit the 3-4 Defense which I think Parcells wants and I dont see the point in paying Dorsey that much money.... I Parcells needs to not be stubborn and take Some picks from the Cowboys who have been aiming for Mcfadden. What the trade would probably be will actually cheat the Dolphins going by the trade value chart.... but.... we'll loose if we go by it.... I want both of Dallas's 1st round picks their 2nd their 3rd 4th and next years 1st.... It'll help build a new team and is worth more than just 1 man... 2 1st round picks is worth more than our number 1 pick for the Dolphins.... Then I think we need to see if we can draft a player for a top 10 draft pick.... What do yall think???
How does Glenn Dorsey not fit into what the Dolphins play? I would imagine he is the prototype NT we want in the 3-4.
Why does everyone think Jerry Jones has lost his mind? No way will he blow his draft like that when he can still get Felix Jones.
Vernon Gholston is my #1 pick, Julius Peppers Jr IMO. Run stopping DT's are not that hard to find, 260 pd Lb's who run 4.56 40's and own future #1 pick LT"s are hard to find.... He can play down, or up, on the line or back in coverage, that is my #1, unless a LT just blows everyone away predraft, De's are trumped by Lt's who can do it all as well.
Where the **** do people get this idea from? Nothing about him makes you think he can play 3-4 NT. He is about as far as possible as a DT can get from being a NT.
good point. and its not like the boys are hurting for a RB. people act like barber is chopped liver. if im the cowboys, i dont worry about RB. i use the picks on a CB and a replacement for flozell adams
They've had scouts going to every Mcfadden game.... There was something about it even on Mcfaddens website.... Jerry jones is in love with him he went to the same College.... The reason why the Cowboys traded their 1st round pick with the Browns is because they were the worst rated NFL team and they thought they could get the 1st pick off of it. both Marion barber and Julius Jones are free agents http://sports.aol.com/fanhouse/2007...-to-trade-up-for-arkansas-rb-darren-mcfadden/ http://draftmcfadden.blogspot.com/2007/12/no-mr-jones.html
ok, let me get this straight. they will trade their entire draft to draft a RB, when they already have one of the top-5 RBs in the league. please. stop this nonsense.
How on earth is he as far as possible as a DT? He's got the size and if anything he has TOO much speed for that position. As a DT in a 3-4 and with his potential it will probaby take two OL men to block him leaving more room for our LB's, and that's what you want in a 3-4.
He's mine too. I can see the Peppers comparison if Gholston plays in a 4-3 in the NFL, but for us, he'll be an OLB and IMO a cross between Merriman and Ware, with a little Lawrence Taylor thrown in. Either way, he is da man.
Nobody is sure if Marion Barber can do good out of the 2 back system alot of ppl say we actually do need a rb... problem with Barber is Cowboys open big holes like the Vikings do for AD and Marion Barber doesnt have the speed to burst through the holes.... Marion Barber can get some good yards but he wont take it home... plus both RB's are free agents and Barber might look on going to another team.... http://sports.aol.com/fanhouse/2007...-to-trade-up-for-arkansas-rb-darren-mcfadden/ http://draftmcfadden.blogspot.com/2007/12/no-mr-jones.html
he doesnt have the size. hes 300lbs this has been discussed in a few other threads at great length. he may fit a one-gap NT, definitely not a two-gap. regardless, his value as a #1 pick is in the 4-3, not the 3-4 look at how warren sapp did in the 3-4
I think some people are having a hard time grasping the fact that we need to build our lines up. The only guys that have impressed me on DL this year are Wright and Moses; one a 7th round 2nd year player coming off a serious injury, the other didn't join our team until mid season. Yes I excluded JT, since IMO he really didn't play as the leader we needed. The fact that I continuously saw our front 7 get gutted tells me we need help there
barber is averaging near 5ypc and whatever barber signs for, will pale in comparison to what you will be paying mcfadden
...I think so as well, unless we can trade back, we cannot go to wrong with a Gholston at #1. Our new DC will think Christmas came early if we keep JT and Draft Vernon Gholston..
The BCS game will be flippin awesome to watch, Dorsey and Gholston playing...both teams have good Olines, should be fun, maybe even Anchor Ale worthy...
That's not the point.... Cowboys dont get to decide if he stays with them....... Another team can offer him big time money that the Cowboys might not want to pay...... Barber is good but I dont see him being a full time starter.... Plus the Cowboys might keep Barber and keep him in the 2 back system. I think what the Dolphins need these 1st round picks but Parcells is a real stubborn guy and might not want to make a big trade because he'd say it's not fair.
Jones is a FA, Jerry Jones does love Macfadden, will they make the trade, doubtful, but he is not making it up.
BC, jerry jones knows what hes doing. i dont think hes gonna give up a kings ransom for one player. i think we have more of a shot swapping picks with another team in the top 10 and picking up a 2nd or more in the process
Every time I hear about Jake Long being a great LT prospect, this video comes to mind: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yot9ClPvZDg[/ame]
if dallas offered us two firsts, a second, third, fourth and fifth, as you claim, parcells would jump at that but dallas isnt stupid, not a chance in hell they offer that the real question is, how can you not see barber as a full time starter? hes a PRO BOWLER
there have been rumors it's just that it's strange that even after the Browns where winning games Jerry jones went to some Arkansas games and his scouts were still watching... So it might not be as doubtful as you think.... He's still been making hints to go after Mcfadden.... I;'m not the only one questioning Barber as a starter....
I know he loves Macfadden, heck, Jones went to the college. They do like the 2 back system and Jones will not be signed as a FA (In fact rumors are he will be Ronnie's backup here), but I doubt Jerry Jones makes that trade, the cost will be way to high.
If you watch Dallas, they run the two back system, neither get starters carries. I agree barber is a studd, but they use two backs in Dallas, and Jones will cost to much to keep. They will look for another RB, and Jerry does love Macfadden, but I agree the price will be to high.
Jerry Jones is an Arkansas Alumni . He goes to all the games he can and this year isn't any different. He isnt making any special trips just to see McFadden. I will also remind everyone that the draft is all about lies and misdirection , take what GM's say with a grain of salt.
they do use two backs. but they shouldnt. barber has significantly outperformed jones this year. my guess? they shared carries to keep the miles off barber, who they plan on keeping long-term. now there is no way you can convince me that they will sign a big-time RB to replace jones. theyll prob draft someone in the later rounds, that will provide more than enough production for the position. you also have to remember, they are a pass-first offense.
he's made statements he is going after mcfadden.... His scouts have been to every game.... Rumor is Jery jones wants Aikman (romo) Irvin (owens) and Smith (Mcfadden).... Jerry Jones has done this before he always gives up 1st round picks to get players he wants... He did it for Damarcus Ware Dallas has given up 1st round picks almost half of the time since Jerry Jones has owned Dallas. He wants Mcfadden.... I never said he's getting him.... Yet he is going to try.... What if Barber wants to go to another team??? and they dont want to pay him the money...
This is not Warren Sapp we're talking about. This is Glenn Dorsey. He's actually listed at around 310-315 on a couple sites (ESPN, NFLdraftscout, Yahoo). We'll just have to wait for the combine for his actual weight. But do you know how easy it is for DL/OL players to gain weight? 10 pounds would be nothing for him. 325 is perfect size for a good NT. Look at Casey Hampton, Vince Wilfork, and Jason Ferguson. None of them are above 325 (Ferguson is only 310) and they all have the key factor for a good NT: quick, strong legs. Dorsey has exactly that and would have no problem manning the NT for us. It's a lot better to look at how the player actually plays than to look at the numbers and weight and such. And one more thing, it's not like we're always in the 3-4 anyways or always will be. Put JT back on the line and you're already in a 4-3 again.
dorsey is not a lb over 300. yes, im sure dorsey can put on 10lbs and play NT. he may even been pretty good at it but he is not worthy of of a high first rounder as a 3-4 NT. he is an UT.
dorsey and sapp do not have similar game, dorsey is reactive at the point of attack, holds up his lineman and diagnoses the play, warren is a gap shooter
