    Per Miami Dolphins Buzz twitter
I really am optimistic about Dion Jordan and him reaching his potential. I said all last year that he should've gotten more play time before we labeled him a bust and I am excited to see what he can do this year in his "new role" so they say. But whatever the reason for his absence today, it really isn't helping his case. Starting not to like him which is really unfortunate considering how damn excited I was on draft day that year.

Right now we do not know why he isn't there. It could be a good reason, it could be a terrible reason.

    Before anyone decides to
    Undermine the commitment by this
Staff to develop a talent such as this,
Take a moment to consider that we traded two top-50 picks to draft this young man.

We can't simply give up on the highest drafted Oregon Duck since Joey Harrington.

Trade Dion for Mychal, and then draft Eric. Our LB corps would then be a definite team strength.

Burned half the kitchen down because he was so high he couldn't remember the times and temperatures. Also tweaked his shoulder loading a batch of muffins.

Are these workouts mandatory?? No. If you pencil pushers had a "Voluntary" editing seminar...would you show up? GD drama queens

Typical reply, but that's not how it works.

Do you think Nicolas Cage, Tom Cruise etc. all goto voluntary acting excersises?? Doubt it.

One thing we as fanatics forget is that to a lot of these guy's it's still just a job, right or wrong.

Why are all the other players going? What is the difference between them and a player that doesn't go?

No one is forgetting anything, some are just pointing out that not attending these workouts when you haven't proven anything in the NFL is telling.

However, I'm in the same camp as padre on this particular instance though and think the team is keeping him out of workouts.

Because his conditioning will have nothing to do whatsoever with missing a workout that's in the Dolphins facility. Not just Dion, it's silly IMO that a lot of guys are crucified by fans for this.

Aaaaaaaand yet most are there. You have to ask yourself, why you, a person whose never had to do a professional sports workout, decides its just not important, when players like Cam Wake show up to them every year. What precisely do you know, that Wake doesn't? Please enlighten us.....

I'm not Jordan's biggest fan, and I would prefer to trade him, but I'm not going to judge him until I hear a reason. There could have been an emergency or a legit excuse.

    If not though...yikes.

Give the guy a break. It's 4/20 and he's from Oregon.

It isn't about the conditioning as much as it is about showing you are a part of the team. Assuming he isn't injured, doesn't have a family crisis and the staff didn't tell him to make himself scarce, it does show a lack of commitment, voluntary or not.

And for the record, most people volunteer their time to help with their jobs. Whether it is to answer e-mails after they have gone home, practice presentations in front of a mirror in their hotel room before a meeting or simply study products, procedures, etc. Why? Because most try to exceed at their jobs and get better, be it for the greater good or their own selfish reasons.

Jordan no showing without a valid excuse sort of sets himself up to be looked at funny by the players that DID show up, as well as staff who have been reluctant to use him despite his obvious talent. Again, it could be a perfectly acceptable reason, but if not, then it isn't going to sit well.

    Pipe down angry fella..

My point was his overall physical well being will obviously not be affected by missing ONE team workout. Naturally you interpet it wrong....that's just life at thephins.com and you.

I mean, how do you know he isn't working out somewhere else with a far superior regimen than provided by one of Clueless Joe's cohorts? My point is that in the offseason fans look for drama to overreact too, and at this point this "story" qualifies.

If we don't see him till May then maybe we can start to cry.

He is a west coast guy too, right?

I think he should be there but ehhh.. Maybe he's traded. Maybe he failed a drug test?

Whatever it is I wish him the best.

Wether Nicolas Cage nor Tom Cruise have to prove something in the acting world. I guess it's not quite the same with Dion in the NFL. Nontheless while I agree with you we shouldn't overreact, I would love to see Dion together with the other guys in a workout.

Unfortunately, just like Harrington, Jordan appears to have been vastly overrated coming out of the draft and it appears he is probably going to have a career that is as unproductive as Harrington's was.

Hickey and Tannebaum need to see what they can get in a trade for him. Of course because of his drug suspension last year and his below average play on the field the past two seasons, it is unlikely any team, including the Eagles would offer anymore than a 6th or 7th round pick for him.

The Dolphins will probably end up stuck with him this coming season because of his contract, but I will be extremely surprised if he will still be a Miami Dolphin when the 2016 season begins.

Not angry, not even close. You on the other hand, always get a little *****y when this topic comes up.

I didn't interpret anything in the way you said I did either. In fact, I (more than once) said I think the team is keeping him out of it.

My point is more about the general concept of showing up to these things. I'll ask you again, why does a player like Wake think they are important if they are not and what precisely are you credentials for telling a player like Wake he is wrong?

Will you answer those questions this time or will you still keep avoiding them and acting like my point is something it is not?

If Suh isn't too good for gassers with his team. If wake isn't too good for dumbbell flies with his team. If Ryan Tannehill is doing shoulder shrugs with his receivers and tight ends.

Than Dion "hasn't done a damn thing" Jordan sure as hell should be there! Period! (Barring medical or family issue)

It wasnt so long ago that we use to refer those players who didnt fit into any position with the dreaded word TWEENERS . The Dolphins have drafted a number of those with the first round so its not new.

    This is your problem.

You typed all that stuff up under the basis that I think wake is somehow wrong for going to the workouts, nothing I said has anything to do with Cameron wake yet that's the statement you make.

I'm not confident you're going to all of a sudden realize you had a mistake in interpreting what I said so let's just go about our Tuesday and leave it at that

    For what it's worth:

I understand all those saying there's no need to overreact from him not being at the first volunteer workout of the season, but when you're the ONLY player that didn't show up and have had the problems and question marks Jordan has had so far in his pro career, it sure doesn't look great.

    lol.

I don't have a problem. You just don't understand logic.

Wake obviously thinks the voluntary workouts are important, else he wouldn't go. You think they are not important. Logic says you disagree with Wake. If that doesn't make sense to you, the problem isn't me.
