To me, the player throwing it away is the worst. Simply sucking is next, and then lastly injury.

Yeah well I hope we werent trying to get rid of tainted goods without telling Philly (I guess the league wouldn't approve that anyways?) I just don't want it to make us look even worse, per usual....

The fact is that Jordan hasn't been that good when he did play. There are only two or three plays he made over the past two years where you even knew he was on the field.

To me Jordan is the bigger bust because he played for the team I root for. Whereas Goldston was drafted by a team I can't stand and I actually enjoyed the fact he was a bust for the Jets.

So.. does this mean we target a DE in the first round now? We need one...

I think in a 34 scheme Jordan could've been a productive player. We'll likely never know now. He was the wrong pick, at the wrong time. We needed OL help and WR more than we needed a DE/LB. Even if we picked any of the top OL guys and they became busts (like aome think of Lane Johnson/Luke Joekel/Greg Robinson) at least they would've fit a need. The pick didn't make a lick of sense now matter that we got "good value" out of the trade.

We could have stayed put and drafted Kyle Long... kept our second round pick... and still signed Branden Albert.. our offensive line would have been top 5 easily.. And who knows what our second round pick could have been.. LeVeon Bell or Eddie Lacy or Johnthan Banks, Kiko Alonso... just a waste..

I would have to go with Jordan. One would think a player would appreciate that lifestyle. By lifestyle, I mean getting paid millions to play a sport in Miami, but he has failed miserably.

Jordan, Wallace, Wheeler, Ellerbe. 2013 offseason was a disaster of epic proportions and didn't need to happen That's all on Ross for retaining Ireland when everyone in the world knew he was incompetent.

Goes both ways. This puts a smile on my face but Gholston has to be one of the biggest draft busts in all of sports. This guy recorded 0 career sacks.

While he might have been better suited for a 3-4 talent wise. The fact of the matter is that his drug problems have nothing to do with his position with the Dolphins. He obviously doesn't have the desire to play in the NFL.

Instead of doing the things he needed to do to make himself into a better player. He made the choice to continue using drugs, even though he knew that another failed test would lead to him sitting out the entire season and probably cost him his career in the NFL.

Personally I have no problem with players who come into the league and fail because they just aren't good enough. That can happen to anyone in any profession. Sometimes you just aren't good enough to compete against the best.

With Jordan, he just never seemed to have the heart or desire to develop his superior talent once he got paid. Instead he seemed content to indulge in drug use and sit out with injuries.

He is still young and hopefully he will eventually get his life together. But as far as him being a player for the Dolphins or any other team in the future, I will be extremely surprised if he ever plays another down in the NFL again.

What makes Jordan a bigger bust is he cost the Dolphins a first and second round draft pick to move up and get him. At least your Jets only wasted one first round pick on Goldston.

And Gholston didn't throw his career away by being a junkie... He just sucked... Dion can't stay off the drugs and that's why he's not on the field. Throwing your potential/career away is far worse than just sucking.

And to think, Philly offered us a 1st round pick at one point. And we basically traded Vontae Davis for this clown. Oh lawd.

What's done is done. Time to move on from DJ. Miami should seriously be considering a pass rusher at this point. DJ no longer occupies that spot (he never did, but don't tell Joe that) and Vernon is serviceable at best and on the last year of his deal.

About 40% of his cap in 2015 and all of it in 2016. Not a total loss.

atleast it was in the 2013 draft. Which was a pretty crappy draft overall come to think about it. Some very good players but nothing earth shattering. Woulda sucked if we passed on something great for him but yea I'm a Glass half-full kinda guy.

Could've had Sheldon Richardson without trading up (so we'd have an extra 2nd rounder), but yeah otherwise the 2013 draft isn't looking as talent heavy as some others.

Going into the 2013, many Dolphin fans were excited with the prospect of vastly improving the team. Prior to the draft, the Dolphins were loaded with early round picks. They had their first round pick and two picks each in the second and third round.

The Dolphins had added Wallace, Ellerbe, and Wheeler in free agency and the expectation was that with five picks in the first three rounds the Dolphins would be a vastly improved team in 2013 over the previous year.

Instead two years later, all the big free agent signees are no longer members of the Dolphins. The only solid stater from the 2013 draft class is Jenkins, who was not drafted in the first three round.

Stugis was drafted to replace Carpenter, but Carpenter has been better in Buffalo than Stugis has been in Miami.

Thomas is still seen as a possible starting guard for the Dolphins, but so far his play has been at the bottom of all the guards in the NFL. What they see in him is beyond me and if he does end up being a starter this season, that will mean they still haven't fixed at least one of their guard positions.

Taylor is penciled in as a starting CB, but I just don't see it. While he has an above average skill set for the position, I just don't see him as a solid starting CB in the NFL. He has trouble staying healthy and when all is said and done, I will be extremely surprised if he is the starter throughout the 2015 season. In fact it would not surprise me in the least if a CB is the Dolphins first round pick.

Davis would be an all-pro CB if it were judged on how a player performs in off season camps. He always seems to make plays in these camps and early in the preseason. Unfortunately once the regular season begins, he appears completely overwhelmed when he gets into the game. I just don't see him being a player Tannebaum and Hickey want to rely on in the future.

So basically all the expectations going into the 2013 off season have dwindled down to one solid starter from the draft in Jenkins, a couple of players who may or may not be able to start for this team and a player who cost the Dolphins a first and second round pick, and yet contributed next to nothing and is now as good as gone from the organization.

When you screw up in the draft and in free agency as much as the Dolphins did in 2013, it is easy to understand how this team has remained so mediocre for so long.

    So.. Andrew Abramson said this:

Bright side for #Dolphins: Dion Jordan’s $5.3 million cap hit in 2015 will be wiped off the books during the year-long suspension

If true, that's not bad. Maybe we can sign a more productive player instead.

Heck, my 8 year old grandson is an all star LB for his peewee league team. So I am sure he could be more productive than Jordan has been with the Dolphins and he would probably cost no more than a new game app on his computer.

How good is he at DE, because you-know-who would probably force him to play there!

$5.3 mil though is enough to sign a good player (maybe a good guard?). Given Jordan was a waste of a pick anyway, this might have been the best that could have happened to the Dolphins.

He's a little light for the DE position, but I am sure he would be willing to add some Junk food to his diet to bulk up.

I just wish this money had been available a few months ago. The Dolphins might have been able to add a quality starter at guard with this additional money. Right now I just don't know if there is anyone left in free agency who could come in and become a starter for the Dolphins. Maybe a quality player will become available after the draft.

Too bad the league didn't test Jordan sooner. I have no doubt he probably was using as soon as the season ended, if not before.
