Round 4 114 - Douglas Jamil - OG Pick Analysis: Douglas brings some versatility to a Dolphins offensive line that saw its struggles in 2014. He is best suited to play inside in the NFL and could develop into a solid pass protector for the Dolphins. --Mark Dulgerian Round 5 145 - Bobby McCain - CB Pick Analysis: Miami lands a high ceiling slot corner with this pick. McCain is on the smaller side but he's tough as nails and displays the ball skills to capitalize on errant throws. --Mark Dulgerian 149 - Jay Ajayi - RB Pick Analysis: Miami needed running back depth and they got a potential steal in the 5th round. Ajayi slipped due to serious knee concerns, but if he stays healthy he can be a 18-25 carry back in the NFL. The Dolphins got a potential replacement for Lamar Miller, who's in a contract year. --Mark Dulgerian 150 - Cedric Thompson - FS Pick Analysis: Thompson showed great range at free safety in college and should benefit from learning behind Louis Delmas, who is in a contract year and coming off ACL surgery. --Mark Dulgerian 156 - Tony Lippett - WR - Dolphins have announced him as CB. Pick Analysis: Lippett is an intriguing football player who started at both corner and wide receiver for Michigan State last season. He projects better at receiver where he uses his length and ball skills to make plays downfield. Don't count him out as a depth defensive back, either. --Mark Dulgerian So that's the draft for Miami - looking pretty good EXCEPT no Linebackers.
Honestly dont know much about some of these, but I saw a stat on Jay Ajayi I really loved... (im not worried about the knee from 3 years ago) Check this out: from 2012 till now at Boise State- Rushing attempts= 678 attempt 3796 Yards Touchdowns=50 Receiving attempts= 73 attempts 771 yards Touchdowns=5 Fumbles = 0 http://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/players/jay-ajayi-1.html If this is true than DAMMNNNNNNNN!!!
NFL.com on Lippett OVERVIEW 2014: First-team All-Big Ten. Started all 13 games. Played offense, defense and special teams in Cotton Bowl win over Baylor, including leveling the kicker on a block following a blocked field goal. 2013: Played all 14 games with 10 starts. 2012: Played in all 13 games with five starts. 2011: Played in all 14 games at WR and CB, making five starts at CB. 2010: Redshirted. PRO DAY RESULTS 40-yard dash: 4.59 and 4.57 seconds ANALYSIS - STRENGTHS Was the team MVP and finished the 2014 season as both starting wide receiver and starting cornerback. Tall with good feet. Sits down and opens quickly vs. zones. Will adjust to pressure as the window constricts. Creative, varied release off the line of scrimmage. If he catches on the move, he can eat up turf and YAC with his long legs. Hands-catcher who can outjump and outreach most corners. Confident and accepted the challenge to be great in 2014. As cornerback, targeted eight times for just 13 receiving yards with three passes defensed. Adjusts routes when needed near goal line. Dominated smaller cornerbacks in the red zone. Saw 86.7 percent of his catches go for a first down. - WEAKNESSES Struggles with out-cuts. Too much wasted motion at top of his routes when getting to boundaries -- allows cornerbacks a chance to jump route. Play strength is below average as a blocker and downfield receiver. Average shake within routes to get free in small spaces -- needs runway. Does not possess strong hands and will drop passes with heavy contact. DRAFT PROJECTION Round 5 NFL COMPARISON Nick Toon BOTTOM LINE The eyeball test doesn't seem to show Lippett as a dangerous wideout, but he consistently beat Big Ten coverage. Long-strider who excels with slants, posts and in-cuts, he needs work to be more well-rounded with his routes. Lippett's production skyrocketed thanks to hard work, confidence and competitive fire. His willingness to accept the challenge at cornerback and play both ways is an example of why Lippett should succeed as a starter in the league. Whether there were concerns about a knee injury from several years ago or other reasons to blame, Ajayi’s stay in the draft pool lasted longer than many people anticipated. He went undrafted through the first four rounds before the Dolphins ended his wait with the 149th pick. Assuming there aren’t any medical issues that get in the way, Miami’s not a bad landing spot despite the wait. Lamar Miller is established as the top back, but there’s no clear-cut No. 2 and Ajayi could get a look in that role at some point this offseason.
Jay Ajayi is gonna be a fun name to listen to Jimmy Cefalo and Joe Rose, or Nat Moore, and Bob Griese try to to pronounce come gamedays. Kinda hoping he makes the team based on name alone.
I posted this in the draft thread but I love the signing of especially this late in the draft! Lippett! 6foot 3 sub 4.5 speed, great hands, MVP of his team, High Motor! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lMyasvk0F7U
Pretty good 3rd day. Guessing they didn't see any LB's they thought worthy of the picks. Love the Ajayi pick! Dude can really develop into a stud imo. McCain and Jamil look to be promising young players in areas we could use help. McCain is a tough sob and has pretty damn good ball skills. Might end up being a damn good slot corner. can't wait for training camp to start and see these young cats getting down and dirty
On the lack of a linebackers: Ian Wharton @NFLFilmStudy 5m5 minutes ago I had Jordan Tripp graded higher last year than any of the remaining linebackers when Miami picked, FWIW. Seems Miami agrees
I know! But.... consider that the 2nd round pick (#47), that we could have used for Perryman, was converted into Phillips, McCain and Lippett.
Lippett should be real interesting. He's not terribly crisp or twitchy, but man he just makes plays. I bet he makes the roster in some capacity. Just a football player. Seems to love the game. Though I'm not crazy about Parker, top-to-bottom I can't remember liking a Phins draft as much as I do this one.

Video of Lippet absolutely destroying Baylor kicker in Cotton Bowl.
Yes, apparently we announced him as a DB which he played some at MSU. I wouldn't expect much from him anytime soon besides a potential KO and punt returner. He has a lot of development to undergo before he becomes a decent CB.
Saw this on ESPN- FSU TE Nick O'Leary walked away from this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UbJ64dx9ui0 Wow...
I'm glad to hear that Lippett is being drafter as a DB, I don't think that he has NFL separation ability as a WR.
This is what excites me he did this alot! Triple coverage Touchdown. SIZE MATTERS! HOW DO WE EMBED VIDEOS?
