Jamil Douglas was the most talked-about OG on this forum leading up to the draft.

However, a few folks have voiced complaints about his film, and they are warranted. (I was underwhelmed also at first, but most of his available film is at LT and he would probably be worse than Jon Martin there.) Once you start watching him at LG, his natural position, he looks very, very solid. As most of his pre-draft discussion here pertained to a being the best scheme fit in Miami, he definitely has the potential to be a future starter, eventually.

This is probably the best game to watch, against Wisconsin in 2013, showing the (mostly) good and bad, with some running plays. He is playing LG (#74), so try to ignore Jaelen Strong:

Solid all around, without being excellent at anything? He's big and strong, and seems to handle going up against other big and strong guys better than speed. Honestly, he didn't seem too challenged in much I watched. He keeps a clean pocket, but I have no idea how his run blocking is.

I'd say his number one talent is blocking on the move; I can't recall ever seeing him get beat while moving backwards. I'd say he's surprisingly weaker in the second level than I expected, considering he's getting a lot of hype over it. He's not fast for his size. This is definitely not Billy Turner hurdling and barreling over defenders in the second level. There were also times when he seemed a little oblivious to his periphery, however I'd think that will drastically improve from Albert and Pouncey flanking him.

He seems to have a collected and reasonable head on his shoulders, and I think he will really benefit from walking into the ideal situation with the Dolphins.

You know you have the makings of a pretty good offense when people's primary concern is offensive guard.

Color me underwhelmed as well, at least for the first run through of the tape. He seemed to absorb a lot of rushers rather than delivering a pop to knock their speed down. If this was an early game at guard, I can understand it if he looked as if he really didn't 'know' where to go, though I did see him pick up a late rusher very nicely. Did I understand that he made this switch during the season? If so, that could account for some hesitancy, but again, I hate to see an offensive lineman absorbing the hit rather than delivering it to knock rushers off speed and balance.

Hopefully he isn't trash like every other offensive lineman we've drafted after the 1st round.

That hurt Jamil's feelings. Bullying will not be tolerated.

I'd settle for a nice solid backup who has a nice ceiling.
