I'm actually amenable to not asking him to take a further discount. I think if he opts in he's due about $15 million.

That's fair as a measurement of both his current level of play and the recognition and acknowledgement of what he has and still does mean to the franchise. But does he want a raise?

That is where I start to have a problem.

Not sure. They might if they let Montae go.

I look at a Milwaukee as being a team that might throw big money his way. He's a college Marquette hero and they are a good young team that still struggles at the gate and is trying to get a new arena.

Not only could he help them on the floor, but he could help with the new arena as well, theoretically.

Oh man that Milwaukee team with Parker and Wade added to it would be sooooooooooo fun.

I don't believe anything that article says. Wade, unlike Lebron, is very open about his plans and just the other day he told Heat fans he's working hard to get the Heat back to the playoffs on snapchat. He's not going to backstab this franchise, stay all quiet and suddenly get up and leave.

Tim Reynolds just now "Wade prepared for anything. Buckle up, Heat fans"

Do I think he wants to leave? No.

Do I think he would consider leaving if we offered him $10 million per year for 2 years? Yes.

Now, there is still a month before he can even opt out, so I imagine this is just posturing. And I absolutely believe Barry Jackson got this from a well placed source. The only way to put pressure on the team is to get the fan base riled up. This will certainly do that.

I believe this will get worked out. Wade is too important to the franchise and his legacy is too tied up with us. He's not going to spend his twilight playing years in Milwaukee or wherever over a few million dollars.

I want to be fair to him. he's not a scrub and he is the most important, best player not only in the franchise history but probably SFL history as well. But I cannot give him a max "Kobe" style contract.

Cleveland is the last team I'm worried about when they still have to sign.

Kevin Love - who by the way just suffered a major injury and will be looking for long term security. His salary will likely increase by 4-5 million on the first year of the contract.
JR Smith - on a player option, might opt out for more money especially considering the year he's having.
Thompson - another that wants long term money, he rejected four years 52 million, is not planning to sign the QO. Lots of people think he can get 15 million per.
Iman Shumpert - another player on a QO, will he accept 4 million for one year or will he want to go after more?

The only player Cleveland will have on a discount next year is Mozgov since they have his player option.

Henry Thomas (Wade's Agent): "I am going to continue to have conversations with the Heat and try to make this work"

Nothing decided on whether Wade will opt out or whether he would actually consider leaving. His preference is to opt out and receive 3 year deal (which would push a big cap number into 2017, taking Heat out of Westbrook amongst others sweepstakes)

Logically, from a pure numbers scenario, I can see a point where resigning Wade at the numbers he wants makes no sense.

But can the Heat afford as an organization to lose LBJ and Wade in successive off seasons?

Would Bosh demand a trade at that point? Would dragic re-sign? At the least, you'd have to think it would hurt us some in negotiations and recruitment going forward.

But then again, the Lakers have not been well served at all with the Kobe deal, so I don't know.

I cannot believe this is what we are talking about now. Never even considered this to be a possibility. It literally never occurred to me.

It will all be worked out... First Elisburg isn't going to tie us in a contract that does not make sense, and Wade has never been greedy, he's never been the highest paid player on our roster his entire career. He is realistic, he wants a long term deal. The Heat wants to sign Goran first it's safe to say, and then work Wade's deal in.

I'm not going to panic here, but I don't really want to lose Wade. If you have to pay him, then pay him. I know Riley makes things happen, but Durant was probably always a pipe dream anyway. Wade has given up a lot of money over the years in order to ensure we had championship contending teams. If keeping Dwyane Wade in Miami for the rest of his career means you give up the small chance you had at Durant next year, then so be it. It would suck if he breaks down, but if you lock up Dragic and Whiteside and hit on the 10th pick, you are still going to be in very good shape moving forward.

I was 100% kidding. There's a minuscule chance Wade leaves. Him wanting $$$ is a big deal tho w Dragic and Whiteside needing deals.

On a 60 game average per season on 14 mill per year, Wade is earning on average of games actual played, a max salary. He is going to have to be realistic. He is not an 18-20 mil per season player anymore. I dont care what the stats are when attendance shows youre not there for 25% of the season.

I'll put this here like I did in Twitter.

We are being Fed: Pay Wade More money for More Years, or he will leave for LESS money for LESS years.

    Makes perfect sense.

Pretty bad bluff, but a bluff that will eventually work to **** us for 17' and reduce flexibility in 16'.

Yeah seems obvious he's not getting a better deal somewhere else. But this w Dragic and Whiteside deals complicates adding pieces. Really need to hit on this draft pick.

Nope Wade is gone. Heard he already bought a house up here. Lee Jenkins writing an essay right now about how Wade came to Ohio because people from here deserve a champion.

I'm sure Wade and the Heat will meet at a mutual agreement if he opts out. I think it's his agent posturing to prove his worth to his client. Wade is probably overvaluing himself and Riley is low balling. Wade is my favorite all time Heat player but I've seen Jordan play for Washington so it wouldn't kill me to see him with another team. Even great players have done it but I shudder at the thought. I doubt Wade opts out though.

If he's really making a money grab you kinda have to let him go and rebuild. I realize what Wade is to this area and the team but you can't sacrifice cap flexibility with that TV deal looming and a serious chance to sign a couple of young max players to give a guy with a few good years left more money. Wade is doing what is best for him, which he has earned, but the Heat kinda of have to do the same thing. Free agency in the NBA is a double edged sword. Wade is a very efficient SG, I could see him fitting right into a team that is very close like Oklahoma City or maybe he goes to Chicago finally.

It probably is a ploy to get as much money as possible from the Heat, but you can never underestimate pride. This is a guy who is the greatest player in franchise history. He's the undoubted face of the franchise (other than Riley). He's taken several pay cuts for the good of the team. If they're trying to low ball him, that should piss him off, maybe even enough to take less elsewhere.

I would still be very shocked if he went anywhere else. Loyalty is a big thing to Riley and Arison, and Wade doesn't really want to leave. Also, you lose Wade, you also probably lose Dragic and really have to start over. I feel confident it will work out.

Ethan Skolnick just made a really interesting point on twitter:
That's probably true. Wade has already made a greater impact on his franchise than Marino, but not retiring as a member of the Heat would mean something to the fans. As great as Marino was, the fact that he played every year in Miami makes his legacy that much greater with the fans in Miami. He had the chance to leave and join a good team in the Vikings, but chose to retire a Dolphin instead.

This might just be his way of saying he isn't going to take another pay cut for the good of the team. Really don't think he's going anywhere - he just wants to be taken care of after taking care of the team the last 5 years. This is the last time he'll probably ever have leverage to get a decent contract. He probably sees Dragic and Whiteside contracts coming down and lots of talk about big free agency classes coming up and can see what's going to happen if he doesn't get what he wants soon.

Could also argue that the greatest in market argument if it did go to wade would only be wade because the Dolphins were a historically great franchise for the decade plus prior to Marinos arrival which in the eyes of some will finish Marinos accomplishments. I don't agree with that assessment but there are people like that.

I agree. Wade is arguably my favorite athlete ever and that's saying something b/c I'm much more of a football fan than basketball fan. It would hurt to see him play anywhere else. It's not like I'd hate him if he left or anything, but it would diminish his Heat legacy a bit.

In the end my hope and expectation is that both sides realize that Wade leaving would hurt both sides. If Wade wants 20 and the team is offering 10, maybe they'll settle on about 14. That would probably assuage pride and still allow Riley enough flexibility to make another championship run. A few million shouldn't be worth more to Wade than what he'd gain in terms of legacy. And with Riley and a little flexibility this is still probably Wade's best chance of adding one more title. Four titles overall and titles before and after Lebron came and went could cement him as one of the greatest players in history. He already is in my mind, but it would broaden that belief to mire people.

Internet trying to make a big deal about Klay being out "indefinitely" with a concussion.

He just has to pass concussion tests with team doctors.

The team doctors who put him back in the game after getting the concussion.

    He's not missing any games.

If he went to the Knicks or Cavs you would hate the **** out of him. C'mon man. If melo went to the Heat I'd have to rename my dog. If you're a die hard sports fan which I think most people in this thread are there are some teams you just never want to see your favorite players on. For me that's a healthy list since I have a few in each of the 4 major US sports.
