Is this the Elder Scrolls MMO you're talking about?

I will buy the next offline single player Elder Scrolls game sight unseen when it's eventually made, but I can't do MMO's and really wouldn't have time if I wanted to.

They seem to be a company that keeps things REALLY quiet though, so no clue on when that will be. I read recently that nothing on a sequal to Skyrim will be talked about at this year's E3.

The hype is they'll be teasing Fallout 4 at this E3.

i played TES online during beta and really didnt like it. i always felt the fallout universe sets up a potential mmo far better than TES.

I was in the beta too. It sucked. I came back after they dumped the subscription requirement. It's a way better game now.

I'm really enjoying this game. I find that it plays just like Skyrim with the ability to play with a group of friends if you want to. I just hit level 10 and I've played solo for 99% of it. There is a ton of content in this game and it lends itself to a game controller well. Aside from some server issues logging on, it's been an enjoyable experience so far.

I'll try and shift the discussion back to this thread since we've been talking about it in the "what are you playing now" thread. Obviously I ended up pulling the trigger on this, and no regrets. I echo Bickety's thoughts about it playing like Skyrim. Haven't played with any friends or in any groups yet. Even if I never do that, I think I can get $59.99 worth of enjoyment out of this game just playing it solo like a normal Elder Scrolls game so any enjoyment I get out of playing online with friends or in groups will just be icing on the cake.

One thing I wonder about that I enjoyed in previous Elder Scrolls games was the ability to purchase dwellings. That might be the only thing where this being an MMO game might cause that to be an issue.

Its possible in the future. WoW, with the last expansion, created an entire garrison your toon stayed in, you even leveled it. So ESO should be able to pull off something similar. It would have to be instanced though.

Here's what I don't like about the game however:

    - Gold is easy to come by, the escalating cost of respeccing is bad. The best feature of the game is that you can do anything with your class...you can fill any role, wear any armor, use any weapon, go for aoe, single target, ranged, melee, etc....but then they handcuff the ability to experiment and learn by gating with cost.

    - 6 abilities (5 regular + 1 ultimate) on the bar is limiting. You get a second bar at lvl 15, but your bars are tied to the equipped weapon, so you have to make too hard choices that limit your flexibility. You're not so much making choices as you are making sacrifices. Swapping between the bars is easy and nice though.

    - I guess the thing for me is that with options of just creating your toon's look and the freedom to fill any role with any gear is a revelation, but then they betray that freedom by gating your experimenting and limiting your on use abilities.

Having said all that, I'm having a lot of fun playing this game, my main just dinged 30. I have alts in their teens.

I played the hell out of Oblivion, then got red ring of death. My wife suggested i try WoW. I did, and played that until I started ESO, so basically, ESO was good enough to have me unsub from WoW that I've played for 8 years straight, but it also brought me back full circle.

I haven't played long enough to experience these issues, but I'm sure I'll notice them too. I was mildly annoyed that "fast travel" costs gold, but I'm guessing that I'll start having enough gold where it won't be an issue once I get a little bit further into the game. I'm only level 6 on first character right now so I'm just scratching the surface.

For me, MMOs have always appealed to me, and I've tried both WoW and Star Wars but I've never really been able to get into them beyond the initial "try it out" phase. More than anything the limitation of just pressing a certain button to launch a certain type of attack or spell never really appealed to me. I found it especially disappointing in Star Wars where I wanted to be able to fire off a blaster or swing a lightsaber however or at whoever the hell I wanted. So Elder Scrolls having that 3rd or 1st person hack and slash ability that those MMOs don't have gives me what I was always missing from those games.

As always my biggest problem with games like this is only how much sleep I lose and how my OCD tendencies sometimes drive me nuts. Having to read every book, search every barrel, pick up every useless item, constantly sell junk to vendors, etc. But then that's also half the fun. I spent over 300 hours on Skyrim so I'm sure I'll spend even more on this one.

Have you done much group stuff? I haven't even figured out how to make that happen yet.

I'm a searcher as well, and that is rewarded in this game.

The good news is that you'll find certain "containers" always carry a certain type of thing. For example, crates always carry food and food ingredients, so you don't need to search every single one. Urns on the other hand often have interesting stuff so you'd search every urn. You'll see. When in a delve/dungeon, search as much as possible because you'll end up with trophies & crafting motifs which are valuable.

Definitely search every bookcase as they will help you level all the various skill lines. If a found weapon or piece of gear carries a 0 value, then don't bother with it, as you won't make money off it and you won't get materials from it if you deconstruct it. So if you pick them up, just destroy them so they don't eat up bag space.

Delves can be done solo. Public dungeons are harder to solo at level. Group dungeons, must have a group because they'll scale to the level of the lowest party member.

That leads to a huge complaint I forgot, anyone and everyone can and will be in the delve & public dungeons at the same time as you. i wish they were instanced so just your party was in there at once. Sometimes you luck out, if the boss is hard and another person comes by, but other than that, its annoying.

Don't try to do an anchor by yourself unless you very good or in a lower level area than your toon, but do them cause there's nice rewards after its done. You don't need to group, as there are generally people around to do it. Even if you get there at the end, if you get a hit in, you'll get credit.

Forgot to mention, if you travel from wayshrine to wayshrine, it doesn't cost anything.

Completely get what you're saying about dungeons and other players. Creates all kinds of issues. I don't like that I can't take a break to check inventory, equip stuff, etc without monsters respawning and taking cheap shots. The respawning also makes it much more difficult to explore a dungeon like I usually enjoy doing in elder scrollls games. Too hectic, and hard to stop and smell the flowers after clearing a room. Also, not sure how heal potions in this game have any value since you can't "pause" like you could in Skyrim. If you get into the situation where you need a heal spell, stopping to get to your inventory long enough to use it seems like it will always only end up in death. But I'm not sure if there just isn't some type of shortcut I haven't figured out yet.

I also really need to figure out where the hell to store stuff. I've read you have to do it at a bank, and I've found the icon for one on my map but nobody there is letting me store anything anywhere. Still enjoying the game, just starting to hit some growing pains.

    - Open your bag (hit "b").
    - Then hit "q".
    - now you can put potions, food, drink, etc. on that quick bar. (put health potion at the 12 o'clock spot.)
    - once you have that set up, when you need a health potion while fighting/exploring, just hit "q". If you want a different potion, hold "q" and maneuver to the potion.

Also, I strongly advise you to get a minimap add-on.

I love, love, love this game. I have a main at level 43 and my alt healer just hit 25. Started playing PvP and I'm hooked on it. I'm also a werewolf now. If you guys are on console I will hook you up.

What console are you playing on? I'm on PS4. Still only level 7. Enjoying the game for the small amounts of time I actually get to play it. Kids are killing my video game time. And by the time they go to bed I'm too tired to do play.
