Sincere question - at this time of the year do the guys normally appear in fighting fit shape or is it common they gain a few pounds? I ask because judging by the photos on the Dolphins website it honestly looks like Cam Wake is carrying some extra weight this year. Is that just me, and if not, is that normal? VS. Last Year:
It's common they gain weight in the offseason, it's kinda like a body builder schedule, gain weight, lift a bit heavier, become stronger because of that, then cut up a bit as the season approaches... With wake though he prolly only fluctuates 5 lbs.. Basically your looking at different angles and lighting from the lenses.. Who the hell is 98?
Also Vern is an absolute beast of a man. This is a very very strong human being, who takes his body very seriously
Galant, if you really go thru all the pic galleries you will see angles of wake looking absolutely like a ripped kraken
You mean in the OTA's? I've been through all of them I think. Might not have seen it though, can you link one?
I have a "Ripped Kracken" lunchbox...but don't get the bbq sauce, they watered it down with DJ's jerk sauce.
Not only is it normal to gain weight (fat, specifically) during the off-season, it's actually healthier. Being sub 10% body fat for long stretches of time isn't actually healthy. Even for the genetically elite. I'm not going to get into too much detail, but the lower your body fat percentage, the wonkier your hormones get over an extended period of time. In addition, recovery requires calories. These guys are destroyed after a season and they need to heal. Truth be told, I always hated the constant bickering that resulted from guys like Dansby, Vontae, or Moreno coming into camp "out of shape." There's a difference between showing up 10-15 lbs overweight and showing up looking like Jamarcus Russell. For trained athletes, 10-15lbs aint ****. They can cut that in no time and get their conditioning in during training camp. As long as they're taking their lifting seriously during the off-season, it's not a big deal.
Yes he is, and I hope that we do not let him get away...He is getting so much better every year and the dude is 24....let's keep our homegrown talent here. I want him to be a lifetime Dolphin and to be on the team when he really breaks out and dominates. Big mistake if they let him get away.
dansby was over that 10 to 15 lb area that year, and I don't agree you should come into camp that much over your target weight, camp is not for you to lose your weight, it is for precision and timing of designed plays, and when your overweight your not gonna move the same, your not gonna get to your spot at the same rate of speed, so your dragin down the integrity of the play..so after the season, gain your weight in moderation, lift hard, train hard, then start to condition cardio as camp approaches, for example in the next 5 weeks all these players should be focused on dropping their the extra lbs they've been carrying..
If he has a good year, which he will, you don't let him get away..he's a trublood..does things the right way, is incredibly humble, trains for his craft like a science..get rid of some others contracts, but keep him.
i haven't seen him play, so I have no idea, made the practice squad of the giants..his competition is shelby and fede.
