Complete "What if" speculation. There is no one on the Dolphins end who could be considering that at this point as Parcells has yet to start and Mueller is a lame duck in that regard.

i agree. on another note, people wanting to trade to get mcfadden could really benefit us in a trade scenario.

maybe i would consider something involving a swap of JT and derek anderson.. but even then i'm not sure. and i definitely don't want to give away any more picks. stick with beck for a year. if he's bad, draft tebow next year. we need to fill lots of holes i hope tuna recognizes that and doesn't give away all the picks that rancam have gathered up

If we can trade down, maybe even once or twice, moving into the middle of the round, picking up a couple of extra day one picks I'd make a play for him.

Hahahaha...Parcell's isn't an idiot. No way he'd do that trade. This is just the start of what will be A LOT of meaningless speculation leading up to the draft. I'm sure there will be dozens more trade scenarios brought up too.

the Browns have talented receivers and a very talented OL

he might be a talented QB, but he won't be as good with our group

I would rather we draft another QB and sign a guy like Volek

PFT is a garbage site IMO, not a very credible source. Pro Sports Daily is much better. Here is an excerpt from an article there via the Miami Herald :

"Parcells' options at quarterback will be limited. If that's the case, then don't expect a Dolphins bid for the Eagles' Donovan McNabb. Pursuing restricted free agent Derek Anderson isn't realistic because Cleveland will place a first- and third-round tender on him. The Bills' J.P. Losman also is considered available, because of Trent Edwards' development. So if not a trade, who's available? 'Bill might look at Daunte Culpepper,' Mortensen said of the ex-Dolphin whom coach Cam Cameron didn't want... Kidd said another possibility is Jets QB Chad Pennington, 31, who was drafted by Parcells in 2000 but whose arm strength has diminished since shoulder surgery. "

Derek Anderson is only 24 years old,(we have guys we just drafted at QB who are older than that!) he's 6'6" and weighs about 235. He has emerged as a very fine QB this year and would solve our QB problem right away. I think he's better than any QB coming out this year, especilly right away. I'm not so sure I'm against this.

I think his success has a lot more to do with his supporting cast then him being a star. He would have a lot less to work with in Miami. His completion percentage bothers me as well. He ranks towards the bottom of the league in that department.
The first overall pick has tremendous value. I would be disgusted if we used it to trade for Anderson. Aren't you sick of trading away picks for QB's that never come close to working out?

Charlie Frye did nothing with that supporting cast, and did you notice that Braylon Edwards/Kellen Winslow didn't show anything in the league until this season? I'm not suggesting that we trade the No. 1 pick for Anderson but he has proven more than any of the garbage QB's on our roster and he has certainly proven more than AJ Feeley when we traded for him.

It's also a fact that Anderson has a better resume than Matt Schaub who I know alot of people on this board liked. I am continually stunned by people who are afraid of QB's. We of all teams should know by now that if you don't have a QB you don't have anything! Cleveland has a terrible "D", yet they are in the playoff hunt. That's partly (mostly?) becuase of Anderson's play.

I seriously doubt we trade for Anderson. Even so, the Browns would be absolutely ******ed if they trade a proven quarterback just to start their unproven rookie QB who may bust.

But IT IS Cleveland. Those fans in Ohio get bad luck like this on a regular basis.

i think clevelands success is fueled by o-line play. now all of the sudden jamal lewis is a beast and the wr and te have time to wreak havoc.

Anderson is a Restricted Free Agent. I say play the card and make the Brown sign him to a fat contract messing up their cap for years having him and Brady Quinn eating up their cap.

    But that wont happen.

They will let him walk or they will trade him.
No one will pay a high price for him, like the Brees stuation a few years ago.
I think they'll let him walk.

Brady makes $8 million over 5 years. He won't be messing up their cap. In fact they are carrying big ole grins.

Lets not forget that King Quinn slid in the draft hard and it cost him a load of money cause a lot of teams with shaky QB's didn't believe he had it.

Don't buy anything the media has said up till this point. Heck Bill just walked into the office today and he doesn't even meet with the GM/Coach till tomorrow. I doubt anything is decided yet.

    lol, funny.

You have to get over it though, until we get a bona fide QB in here or Beck becomes one), we will not accomplish anything. No matter how many DT's we draft.

Agreed 100%. Right now that is our weakest position IMO. Believing in Beck is more about hope than facts right now

Yup but I don't think you have to give up the house to get one. Miami's traded away a bunch of picks for QB's and it hasn't panned out. At least give Beck a chance next year, but find a capable veteran to step in if he doesn't pan out and keep collecting late round QB's. If Beck falters this team will still be in a spot to draft a high QB for those clamoring for it. I don't see Cleveland ever trading Anderson now that they found their QB after a decade.

man i wood give up anything for a reliable, consistent qb. im so sick of the new qbs every year, i feel like a dam bears fan. If its the first overall then i might consider it for a while but it maybe well worth it because there are no franchise qbs this year and there isnt a clear number one choice really. We should consider trading the number one but NOT the third rounder. then trade one of our vets possibly jt even tho its a bad idea but to get back in to the late first round. damn the second part of this sounds like madden .......

I'm not really advocating for Anderson, just stating the rather obvious need for a QB on this team. If Parcells/GM/Coach felt like Anderson was a Pro Bowl QB worthy of a trade I would wholeheartedly support them. Espescially b/c it would be a move based on 15 (maybe more) games of experience. The QB's we have traded for have either been old (Green), injured (Daunte) or just plain terrible and picked out of panic rather than honest evaluation (Feely)

Who would help this team more? A Pro Bowl QB with the no. 1 pick or a DT? It's the QB, every day and twice on Sundays. Put it this way, I'd rather pay Derek Anderson 45 million than pay dorsey or Chris Long 50-55 million.

Maybe I'm way off base, but that's how I look at football.

Wow I hope for your sake this is just a rumor. I do not think Anderson is that great of a QB. Def not worth a 1st and 3rd
