Bills game is the first game where his presence/absence will matter a great deal, so wish him well and hope he's definitely back by the Bills game.

As if there was ever any doubt he'd need to wait a few weeks into the regular season. This is Fat Albert we're talking about, not Adrian Peterson.

I still think they should make him wait until after the bye. He's still only 9 months post-ACL tear.

Not really a surprise at all. His injury was worse than Delmas and we saw what happens when you try to return too soon from a serious knee injury.
My view all along is that the Dolphins should be able to go 5-1 or 4-2 over their first six games without Albert. They should let him recover as much as possible and get him ready for the hardest part of their schedule which is going to be their last 10 games. If he comes back too early and his leg doesn't hold up, he probably won't be available when the Dolphins really need him the most.

    Parker, one would assume.

As for Albert, I'm not glad he's injured but I'm glad they're keeping him out until he's ready. Apparently the period of 9-12 months after injury is when re-injury is most likely to occur.

I fail to see how this is considered "great news" by anyone....

I'm not saying that it's surprising. Nor am I saying that it's the wrong move, if he isn't healthy, but he's our most important OL, on a line with two big question marks. Great news would be that he's healthy and fired up to play the opening snap of the season at Washington. This news is....mediocre. Stomachable. Could be worse, but I'm still bummed.

Dolphins are quite certain Branden Albert will not be out until Week 3. Still hopeful about season opener.

I thought the same thing you did, don't feel bad

I'm torn on the subject. I don't want Tannehill to die in the first weeks of the season. But I also don't want Tannehill to die later in the year because we rushed Albert back and he got hurt again. I'm pretty much on board w/whatever the team doctors decide, I guess. If he's back for the division game against Buffalo, that's not too bad.

We'll be ok, i'd rather have him healthy for later on, than rush him back.

  18. i have come to expect nothing but bad news when the subject turns to the O-Line. even the Albert signing has been a disappointment.

Even when he does return, i would be shocked if he makes it the whole season. Another injury to albert and our playoff hopes are gone.

Because the dolphins have given us so much to be optimistic about the last 3 years, right?

It's called reality. I can leave the homer glasses on and say we will be good no matter what happens, but i rather be reasonable and set my expectations low.

You think if we lose albert again for the season we still make the playoffs? I don't think you will find one rational analyst who agrees with that.

..... We nearly made the playoffs the past two years without him..... It's not as if our offense was so hindered that we crumbled after losing him last year. There were far greater issues than just replacing Albert. We did screw the o-line up in moving everyone to accomodate but this year we're prepared for this...we're looking sharp without him and have the potential to get a top 5 LT back to form. The offensive line will be waaaaay better than years past even if Albert never plays a down!

Tannehill is not the same QB he was 2-3 years ago. We signed future HOF N.Suh in his prime. This is reality. You keep your Debbie downer glasses on and set your expectations low, because that's all that fits your rhetoric.

I'll happily eat crow, but i need to see it before i start crowning this team anything.

After all, I did put a wager for phins to win the superbowl at 50:1. I want this team to win, but I can not give them the benefit of the doubt.

Exactly, you have to earn the benefit of the doubt, good signs are good to see, even against what was the worst D in football last year, but this team hasn't proven anything yet.

You're pessimistic he stays healthy, for no reason. He had a freak injury last year and is healed. You're just throwing hyperbole out and comparing an entire franchise to an individual player.

    False.

It's no hyperbole. He started 11 games in 2012, 12 games in 2013, and 9 games in 2014. Don't forget now he's 30 and not exactly the quintessential athlete when it comes to his conditioning.

So sick of all the negativity. The team is looking good. Tannehill looks good. The defense looks good. We haven't even played one game, and people are acting like we've lost our first three or something. Yeah, there's question marks. Just like every team.

Nobody said anything about us losing games yet. However, we all know what happened to this team last year without a quality LT in regular season games, not preseason. It's a legitimate concern, probably one of the most legitimate out of all of them. I thought the brass could have done a better job setting up a plan B. Hell I wouldn't even have blamed them from moving on from him entirely.

    Sigh.

We didn't suck last year after Albert went down because we didn't have a quality LT. We sucked last year after Albert went down because we didn't have a serviceable LT or RT.

You don't need high quality olineman to win. You just need average. We have that as back ups now. We didn't have any depth last year because we were still building our first string. You can't build depth if you're still building first string. This is not rocket science.

Even though we have yet to play 1 game, as you pointed out, you seem to have come to a lot of conclusions...

Also, not being a homer does not = negativity, saying an oft injured player will likely get injured is based in REALITY.

    Sigh.

Now you're splitting hairs. The offense took a major step back after Albert's injury - serviceable backups or not, that's how it played out. We still don't have serviceable backups at those spots now. Not to mention you still had a QB last year who was not quite polished sliding around in the pocket to help mask O-line deficiencies.

But please, do go on. You're proving my point that this FO hasn't prepared itself in the case Albert suffers setbacks or doesn't play well at all.

Yea, old an injury prone is definitely the wrong direction, i wasn't thrilled with the signing because of his injury history, he can't seem to finish seasons, and the same thing continues when he gets here, oh what a shock, lol.

You do realize that cutting Albert would cause the team to take a 15.8 mil cap hit, right? I would blame them if they had bailed after one year. That hit goes down to 5 mil after this season, so if he shows absolutely nothing, then it would be plausible, though still unlikely.

Live with him. Hopefully he's healed and our LT through at least 2016.

    Its not splitting hairs.

The FO was not inept, there is only so much you can do in an offseason. I get in your Madden styled world, all holes should be filled in the offseason, but reality is quite different from your skewed perception.

My Madden Style World or your "Land of Delusion" where you decided I hold the team accountable for not having all holes patched? Of course you can't show me where I ever made that argument - but in my short stint here so far it's pretty clear that's your argument tactic of choice .... i.e. countering with extremes never stated by the poster your replying to.

In the hierarchy of priorities on a team, knowing that your franchise LT is still only 9 months off an ACL tear it's called being "prudent" in having a plan B in case he's not ready to go or suffers a setback ..... especially given how much the offensive efficiency deteriorated last year after he went down and ESPECIALLY because of Albert's conditioning, age, and injury history.
