wow Suh will make 1.18 million dollars per game for the next 6 years............................... did we really? http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap30...ings-cardinals-enter-top-three-eagles-plummet
Imo, this was a Ross driven deal for selling tickets, but it was short sighted, there is no DTs in the league worth that money, and I have said in other threads, imo he's slightly overrated, and he will cost this team talent in the near future.
In fairness BPK, some of us were worried about this signing from day 1. http://www.thephins.com/forums/showthread.php?85251-Ndamukong-Suh-Albert-Hayneworth-A-Comparison
complaining? Not at all. I stated a fact Don't get your pink panties in a wad. I think 1.18 million dollars a game is excessive for any player. Had no idea it was that much until this power ranking. But since you mentioned it ----------- I guess that one tackle was something to watch huh
Yes, and some of the "complaining" was based on valid historical and even scientific evidence about signing over priced free agents to mega deals. http://www.thephins.com/forums/show...s-for-Very-High-Salaries&highlight=superstars
Suh is making a lot of money!?!??!?!? OMFG BREAKING NEWS! its week 3 and WE ARE JUST FINDING THIS OUT!!!!!!!!!!! Ill call CNN, ESPN....you guys decide who calls Fox sports 1, TBS and NFL Network!!!! This is the highest quality math break down of a contract ive ever encountered and it needs to be seen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We love to kid ourselves every year in free agency that this mega star is different. This one will be worth the money!!! But the sad reality is these deals rarely return positive ROI to the teams that make them. No matter how talented the player. It's too early to tell with Suh. But it's not looking good so far...
This guy watched the film and says its BS for the most part and its a smear campaign, which goes along with some things... well nevermind... http://mmqb.si.com/mmqb/2015/09/23/nfl-miami-dolphins-ndamukong-suh Careful you don't let some facts get in the way of a good, dramatic story... I'm only speaking for myself, but my criticisms and complaints of the deal have nothing to do with a smear campaign against Suh. I really like him as a player. I don't like the deal or the strategy of building a team. Whether Suh played poorly, well, mediocre, etc there is no debating the fact that so far the Dolphins are not getting positive ROI for the money spent. 0 sacks against the Jaguars. 1. Suh led defenses rarely let "bad" opposing QBs have good games. Bortles just had the game of his career. 2. Our philosophy is we want to be dominate against the pass and if the run defense looks bad so be it. As long as we're winning games Suh and the rest of the defensive line may buy into this. But if we're losing games while appearing to get bullied in the run game Suh is gonna get pissed real fast. 3. We're not good at winning close games in the 4th quarter, which means, simply put: we're not good. Can we learn to be good at gritting out wins? I don't believe so. As we've seen this leads to a lot of finger pointing, and a majority of those fingers will be pointed directly at the highest paid non-QB in the league. This signing is not going to end well.
Guys we are 1-1, I mean can we at least get through half of the season before we start blaming the Suh signing for everything that is wrong in the world?
We barely beat a Redskins team that was awful last season and hasn't really done anything to improve itself, and we lost to a Jags' team that has a buttload of injuries at key positions and a second year QB who looked very bad last season. It's not our record, it's who we lost to and how we've played in those games. We have MUCH tougher games coming up this season. Losses were going to happen...losses ARE going to happen. But not that loss, not if we hope to make the playoffs. And frankly, after having watched them play, I don't see much hope for that right now.
The money is one thing but the results so far have been lacking. Time for his play to pick up and earn some of that cash.
I think the happiest person in the world about this signing has got to be Ryan Tannehill. Now all the heat is being transferred to someone else
Ryan Tannehill is a competitive player who wants the team to win. I see no sign that he has any interest in assigning blame for the struggles of this team to anyone else.
You misunderstood what CD was saying. He wasn't saying RT was gonna assign blame, just that the wrath of the fans and media would be turned towards Suh instead of RT. Basically cd was being facetious.
A 2 game sample that happens to account for 12.5% of the season. I'm not trying to say the Suh signing is a failure. I'm only saying that at this point it's not looking good. Do you not agree? If I had to forecast it out I'd speculate it's not looking good, but who knows for sure.
now how much of his career does that two game sample become? Either way you try to measure it as a percentage of the season or career, discussing roi now is pretty fruitless and will give you little to no actual realistic perspective.
yea I guess you missed my point, Fin D got it. This has nothing to do with how Ryan Tannehill feels or what he does. But back to Suh, its a little premature to be saying this was a "failed experiment" I think if its anything, its the coaches trying to put a square peg in a round hole and failing to make adjustements when things aren't working. This coaching staff has proven over and over how stubborn they are and how much they REFUSE to make changes despite the talent and skills our players have.
In 2 games he's been no better than Starks, thats a huge problem, this guy is making franchise QB money and is being blocked 1 on 1, regardless of where he lines up, that is not what you expect from a 20 mil per, DT. It's way too much money for a DT, even if he was the 2nd coming of Reggie White, and he's never even been in that convo. Like I said when we signed him, Knighton and Odrick combined are better than Suh, and cheaper, especially if you're trying to stop the run, Suh is a passrusher, Potroast is a run stuffer.
2 games into his Dolphin career. Smh...and if he had 4 sacks in two games we would have Reggie White??!! I honestly don't understand the knee jerk reaction by some on this board ... Now we would be better off with Knighton and Odrick? Ouch.. Guess we should've kept Starks too.. And Ellerbe and Wheeler since our Lb's are struggling now. Hey , even Daniel Thomas, because we are short at Rb's now . Can we even let a half a season play out before we over react??!!
all those players suck. whereas suh was good, and now he sucks. When you get paid 1 million dollars for 1 day of the week, you should probably average more than 1.5 tackles per game 0 QB pressures and 0 QB sacks. The freaking rookie DT has more sacks than suh and cost 95% less money.
Holy Crap Dude!... It's two freaking games!!!!... And Suh sucks???!! Phillips has 1 sack so he is better than Wake or Suh? If Suh has a monster game this week he no longer sucks? Lmao.. You gotta be better than this .. Gotta be. Suh sucks. Dear lord up above.
I don't think anyone is saying Suh is a bust or even to blame for our struggles so far. There are many of us that believe that signing big name free agents that break the bank isn't a good, long term strategy for success in the NFL. Many of us had that belief before Suh and after he was signed. Both Wallace and Albert, have not lived up to what they were paid although for different reasons. Once again, this doesn't mean that anyone thinks Suh is a failure or that we can gauge that after 2 games. It's safe to say that he has not lived up to expectations given the small sample we've seen so far.
I still do not think it is the players, Suh or anyone else. I think it is all about the coaching staff. They have to take a page from Belichek's book and put the players in position to be successful and stop trying to put round pegs into their square holes.
http://www.sportingcharts.com/nfl/stats/defensive-hurries/2015/ 2 Dolphins are tied for the lead in tackles in the nfl. jenkins and jones. Suh isn't on this list either. Stuffs, and yardaged stuffed. http://www.sportingcharts.com/nfl/stats/stuffs-and-stuff-yards/2015/
Suh will prove worthy of every single penny of that contract. He's a great player who will probably be a HOFer, just like how I believe Tannehill doesn't get the credit he deserves and IS a true franchise QB. Suh and Tannehill are the most important members of this team and I am extremely comfortable with that. Suh's presence alone is a huge factor most fans simply don't understand but NFL defensive coordinators do. We should be 2-0 and the narrative of this team would be very different if f****** Franks could hit a 42 yarder, Brice didn't commit that penalty leading to the 58 yarder, Jennings is able to catch an easy pass, same with Grimes, and f****** Aikens doesn't kill us in a absolutely critical situation with a reeetarded penalty. That's why Suh isn't worth it right now, f****** Walt Aikens, because if not for him on that 1 play, we're probably 2-0 and Suh is a non topic. Oh yeah, and anyone who thinks Suh is over rated or just simply isn't that good, probably doesn't know s*** about football imho because he's been GREAT since day 1 in this league if you've been paying any attention to Detroit like I have. I'll admit he hasn't played well in his first 2 weeks with us, but big deal, it's a long season and this man is an elite talent and complete football player.
