I have not had any sympathy for Chump. He gets paid Millions to leave a job. Sorry no sympathy there. Then to hear he was negatively recruiting the Gators? Sorry, I don't like to wish ill will on people, but I definitely won't feel bad if he falls on his face. (doubtful, as he is a good D coach).

We did get MARTEZ IVEY which was a HUGE need. Plus, Skeet got me optimistic about CeCe. So still could be a good recruiting class, all things considered.

Supposedly now they are saying Cowart has not faxed in his LOI, yet. Some rumor out there saying he still has not made up his mind between UF and AU. :O

I highly doubt it is true, but wow. That would be huge.

CeCe committed to UF! Big get. Now rumors are Cowart is considering following him... That would be very interesting and one of the strangest Signing Day stories of recent memory. Either way getting Jefferson is Big for the D.

Just got Jordan Cronkrite and Nick Buchanan as well! Wow, Coach Mac is finishing strong!

Man, if he can coach too!? We'll be back on top in no time! Sorry just getting giddy with excitement. Feel like a teenage girl watching a boy band!

I told you guys not to worry. This is a great Florida class considering when the coaches came in and had limited time to get relationships with recruits.

Yes. You did tell us that. I thought there was no way after some of the stuff I was reading.

Two questions, since you definitely seem to be MORE in the know than I... What is the deal with CeCe not sending in LOI yet? Same hands, what is the deal with Cowart?

I don't know about CeCe. Cowart's is in now. I wouldn't worry about CeCe.

    Couple of small notes

I was very surprised that we didn't get a QB. I thought for sure we would sign one. I didn't think it would be Deondre Francis tho. Maybe we get a transfer.

McElwain said WR coach should be on staff "soon".

Gators also added a Preferred walk on Punter from Tampa.

Class was small but that's usually the case with new coaches.

21 (with Early enrollees) is not that small. Not big, that is for sure, but I would not call it small.

Honestly with less than 2 months on the job and only 8 commits when he started, I am very happy with this class. I would have liked a QB also and maybe a few more LBs, but otherwise it was a great class imo. Now if Coach Mac can show he can coach up the kids we do have... We will be heading back to the top! I'm excited!

So his dad is not letting him fax it over. (smh)

WHY is there a parent that does this every year? I understand wanting what is best for your kids. I always want the best for my two. However, if the time comes and either of them want to (hopefully not) go to FSU, I am not going to stop them. Sorry, at some point you have to let your kids make their own decisions. Not only that CeCe is 19, I don't understand why his dad even has a right to stop him!?

it's a little on the small side considering we had more scholarships. It's not really small but still a little on the small side for me I guess.

    Not yet...

Maybe his dad just thinks it's best for him to go somewhere else. I have no idea, But this should be pretty interesting to watch.

I need to read this thread more often, I didn't hear about this until today. I saw an article about Shannon today that I posted in the Canes forum, but didn't realize he had been hired at UF months ago. He's a good assistant coach with tons of experience, so you shouldn't be disappointed.

Some guys are just good assistants and not great HCs. Look at Muschamp for a perfect example. That being said, I am excited for what Shannon will bring to this coaching staff. Fingers are crossed that Coach Mac knows what he is doing. He is sure saying all the right things. However, Talk is cheap! ;)

Been way too long w/o a post in here.

2-0! Even though ECU did show some flaws. That being said, I really do like what I hear from Coach Mac. He really sounds like he gets it. PLUS he sounds like he has a plan to turn things around.

My only concern is the QB situation. I am afraid, that once he does pick a QB... WHEN (not if) that QB has some struggles that the team will turn and expect him to play the other QB. Personally, I think Grier is more talented, but Harris is probably the guy we should go with. Harris has experience at this level of competition and is more used to scrambling when the pocket breaks down. So until the oline plays better or Grier is 100% ready, I'd play Harris.

    Go Gators

I would play both until there is a clear winner .They both bring different skills to the table.

Whilst Grier has a quick release and has the height to look over defenders he really doesnt have a good deep ball...yet. In addition the patchwork OL is suspect so Harris may be needed because he is a better scrambler ......and a better deep ball thrower.

Gators need to avoid picking the wrong QB such as Muschamp did picking Driskell over Brissett and before that picking Brantley over Newton .The other QB will invariable transfer out .

I think that is the key. The only thing I don't like about playing both QBs is neither can ever get into a real rhythm. Plus, they will both always be looking over their shoulder. However, I do agree you have to be careful on the 'decision'. You are probably correct in that one will probably transfer. Another reason I really hope Coach Mac is finding more QBs to bring in next year. One probably needing to be a transfer...

I think Grier has a much higher ceiling but the offensive line is so bad that he may never get enough time especially in SEC play. Also the WR's are still below where they need to be but like Powell, Worton, and Callaway. Think they will get better.

Totally agree about the QBs and the oline. I think the WRs are better than we are giving them credit for. Just our oline is not blocking long enough for them to show us.

So far I have been impressed with everything Coach Mac has said and done. I know it is only 2 games in and have not really had much drama to deal with. However, some reason it seems like he gets it and seems to have a plan to actually fix it. I am really optimistic about our future with him at the helm...

WR's have dropped too many passes already. They need to get better! Oline just has no depth and Muschamp did a terrible job of getting olinemen.

Coach Mac has been great and I really think he will turn things around as well. Very interested to see how this season turns out!

While I am interested to see how it plays out, I am more interested to see the next two years after Mac has had time to bring in some of his own recruits. See him build up the oline. Bring in his own batch of playmakers. Heck Callaway is probably our best or at least our second best wr (Robinson).

I think what I am trying to say, I am excited for the future of the program, but not that excited for this year. LOL.

Wow even after that crazy win, no one comes in here? What happened to this place?

Supposedly there was quite a few big time recruits at that game. So HOPEFULLY it helped sway a few our way. IF we can start getting some of the big time talent back... With Mac's coaching, I think we could slowly work our way back to the upper echelon of college football! I do think Grier took a few steps in that game. Sadly, not sure it matters much next week against Ole Miss, but we can always hope!

There was like 20 people in the top 250 of Rivals rankings or something close to that. Crowd was really loud and we won a close hard fought rivalry game! Ole Miss struggled with Vandy last week so that gives me a little hope that we can possibly beat them. You never know tho. Grier did a great job but I just worry about him getting hurt. He takes way too many hits. Our offensive line is still really bad but not much we can do about that right now.

The tackling was awful .And the DBs and LBs looked slow on the left side of the defense . The Vols gashed that side. You better believe others team noticed that too. That has to be addressed somehow.
And Grier needs to be more accurate in his passing .He missed or didnt see a lot of open receivers but he was not helped by the drops. But he came up big at the end of the game when it mattered.

On the plus side the recruits must have been impressed with the crowd , atmosphere and the new indoor practice field and the new dorms. .Coach Mac has had a good start in changing the culture of the team.It will take time but I think he will turn it around.

Tackling was really awful but has been all year. We try to strip the ball all the time.

I swear our biggest problem in the UT game was just missed tackles. IF I did not want to be depressed I'd go back and count how many total missed tackles we had. Seemed like every one of their big plays we missed 4-5 tackles on it. IF we make the first tackle in most of those instances, I think we would have destroyed UT. There was even an article in Gatorsports about it. IF we clean that up, I like our chances. Especially at home! Seems like the crowds of old (when I was there) are returning!

Trying to not get my hopes up too much for Ole Miss, but is it weird that I think we do have a chance?

Impressive win for the Gators .You can see Grier the OL improve as they get more experience. The defense was dominating .They jumped from nowhere to be ranked No 11 in this weeks poll .Now to guard against overconfidence against Missouri at their place ,a team that walloped the Gators at the Swamp last year. The smartest thing they can do is to take one game at a time and not worry about getting into the SEC championship game....yet.They still have a lot to prove.Georgia and LSU coming up will tell the tale IMO.

It's been an exciting season so far, but we still have a brutal schedule coming up. Still 3 top 25 ranked teams on our schedule. Overall this years schedule seems much more difficult compared to years past that I can remember. I'm most worried about LSU, I cant see how we're going to stop Fournette.

Just saw you posted this but lmao

When Crunch says wallop I don't know what to think. Yes we lost 42-13 but we gave up a grand total of 119 yards on defense. Muschamp did such a terrible job with the team as a whole it was sad. Should be a good game and glad the team plays on the road before they play LSU.

This season has been great and I forgot just how amazing Saturday football could be. Honestly tho there isn't one team left that I really fear. LSU at night will be tough but we have a chance and I don't have a fear that we will trip over our own feet.

Well for the first time in a few years, I can honestly say I think we have a chance to beat every team we play. Part of that is how Mac has the team playing, but also every team has some holes. For example, I think both LSU and FSU have amazing RBs but the rest of their offense has not been stellar. Esp the QB for LSU.

Really, I am thinking this Sat vs Mizzou is really going to be a tell tale game. I am not sure we were as good as we played against Ole Miss, but I think we are better than we played against UT. I want to see how we play against Mizzou on the road. I think it will tell us a lot about this team.

I don't think Mizzou will tell us a lot to be honest. I don't expect to destroy them but don't think they're a good team. Their offensive line is terrible and freshmen QB hasn't been good. Best matchup of the game will be Gators OL vs Mizzou DL. I don't particularly think Mizzou Secondary is any good so if given time we could exploit them.

The Gators can lose to LSU and still be in the championship game .Its more important to beat Georgia and Mizzou IMO.
South Carolina is having a down year but you know Spurrier will have a few tricks up his sleeve to beat his alma mater so they cant be overlooked.

I'm all for this. I wish we played every year, like we both play FSU.

"Orlando Sentinel's Mike Bianchi reports that Florida and Miami are nearing a deal that would have the two teams play in Orlando's Citrus Bowl during the 2019 season. This would be the first time the teams met since 2013 if the deal is struck as expected.

The Citrus Bowl underwent reconstruction in 2014 which replaced the lower bowl of seating, updated the press box and suites, as well as adding club level seating. The stadium is hosting marquee neutral site games between Florida State and Ole Miss in 2016 as well as Alabama and Louisville in 2018.

The in-state battle between the Gators and Hurricanes gives Miami a 29-26 edge all time." http://florida.247sports.com/Board/14/Contents/Report-Florida-Miami-near-deal-for-game-40052176

I agree there definitely needs to be more instate rivalry games. Atleast every other year or so. 6 years is a little too long.
