The last Ireland draft was pretty much a f you to dolphin nation. Five picks in the top three rounds was supposed to be the foundation of future Super Bowls and it resulted in a big pile of poo.

The sad truth is that Jordan is an ineffective passrusher and an absolute liability against the run, so really, who cares if he comes back, he can be replaced by a 5th round pick.

Man... To think I wanted him as an OLB more than anybody else in that draft...

What a bum. Maybe Philbin was right not to give him many opportunities.

He actually performed pretty well when he could get on the field. As a pass rusher, against the run and in coverage. The real liability against the run has been Vernon.

With that said, I have no expectations for Dion.

I'm hoping the guy can get his mind right and focus on the blessing it is to play football in the NFL. He has potential and with Wake's return to the team next year in question, we sure could use him.

To play devils advocate here, this pic is at least two months old now. A professional, of which I'm not saying Dion Jordan is, could get from this status to playing shape in a month.

Ive given up on Jordan, hes a ****ing idiot, but this pic doesn't specifically say anything other than hes suspended and apparently not spending every day working out.

The real ****ty part, and I'm sure all of you have realized this too, is that we drafted Dion for this exact moment. One day Wake wasn't going to be out there. Dion was supposed to take the ****ing reigns.

    Why are we always wrong...

My fear is he is the DE of the Jamarcus Russell. Hope Jordan shows us we're wrong.

I'm pretty sure we all thought that pick was going to be Lane Johnson.

I know I was shocked as hell when it wasn't.

    Dang.

What surprised me was I was thinking Jordan was using his suspension to get stronger and faster. I thought he was going to look almost like Cam Wake muscle wise. I have a unrealistic mindset thinking that all players try to improve when they aren't playing football. I'm late obviously on this topic as I can see now, my bad but it sucks how our luck is with players. I thought Dion Jordan was a decent pick at the time, so I still have expectations that he'll be a game changer for us.

I'd have to totally disagree, he has just as many suspensions as he does sacks, and most teams would use TEs to block him in the run game, and it worked, that is horrible for a DE, and there is such a small sample size of him in coverage, but that does seem like what he did best, but that isn't a what your looking for in a DE, maybe he could be a LB, but I don't think he has the football IQ to play as an every down LB.

I think Dion Jordan needs a mentor if we convert him to LB, Zach Thomas would be the perfect mentor just as Marino is to Tannehill.

Truth is, I was thrilled it wasn't Johnson. Didn't want a LT, thought Jordan would wreck havoc with wake and Vernon. Had my head in the clouds and was thinking Giants defense with osi, strahan and tuck. I was thrilled by the trade up, thought "this is the ballsy move that leads to success"

But I really just should have seen the failure coming. I hate my life

I think there might be a lot of comparison between the Dion Jordan situation and Ricky Williams. You've got a guy with substance abuse issues, on the field frustrations over how he's being used, and quite possibly mental health issues as well.

I wonder if a better coach who can connect with players and a defensive coordinator who would actually use him to his abilities would get him back and productive.

I feel the same way as you do and was thinking the same thing with that DL.

For the record, had we taken Lane Johnson(who is rated higher by PFF than all of our OT) we would have had the 42nd pick in the draft.

Players available with that pick(assuming Ireland wouldn't have f***ed that one up too):
    1) Kewaan Short #1 rated DT, 1 spot ahead of Suh, hundreds of millions dollars saved
    2) Leveon Bell- #2 rated RB
    3) Eddie Lacy
    4) Travis Kelce

Had we taken Lane Johnson we would still be out that 2nd pick.

Good point. That's what happens when you type without the proper amount of caffeine/thinking.

Point should have been keeping the pick. We essentially could of had Carolina's DT's or one of them and another very good player.

That's an old pic. The latest one shows him laying in the surf with a bunch of people desperately trying to push him back into deeper water.

Obviously, you and I saw his performance on the field differently. He was by no means a star, certainly raw, but last year he put pressure on the QB, covered receivers downfield and set the edge better than Vernon would.

I believe he would have started game 3 after Vernon's poor opening, but well... whatever.

I agree. People are mad because he seems to be wasting away his talent and promise. Some players want to play, others want to get paid. He wasn't bad when philbin let him on the field.

It also takes time for a transition to 4-3 DE from basically "athlete on defense," but things were going in the right direction.

This training camp will tell what he is going to do. Like ppl have said, with Wake's injury and OV's contract, he will be in a good position to get some playing time and make a name for himself.

I'm a believer in Campbell, so I kind of would like to see if he can motivate this young man to be a real player.
