I just thought that this board needed a Tannehill thread. They have been lacking around here as of late. The record and numbers are a bit scary, BUT, I think are boy is going to break that streak this weak. Streaks are meant to be broken. Woooooo!! Lets go!!!!! Bring it on!!!!

Yeah well it's time to change all that. Remember Houston? Yeah.. we beat them after being winless for like forever! We can break the trend with Buffalo too. Gotta do it for the sake of this board!

Yet another clutch stat where he's lacking, 2-7(can't count the game he was injured early) in games that really mean something.

Yep. Like a said, as well as before they played the Texans, streaks are meant to be broken. This will be our time.

One game isn't going to break any trends, if we win this game he's still 3-7.

Yes, it's been a complete and total pile of s--t in those games with our boy standing on top. I agree.

No, he HAS been terrible in those games. No excuse, no sugar coating. In fact....he's terrible in division games as a whole...home or away, doesn't matter.

So the rest of the team is throwing all those INTs? This clearly shows that Tanne plays below his own standards in these games.

He's terrible vs. the division because they don't let him get away with the short stuff ...... particularly on the road.

Whilst we have similar evaluations on players and this player and I would love for him to be that dual threat guy or whatever by using his ability to run, the thing is, I don't think that will ever happen. Yeah, he was a WR in college, but whenever he does decide to run, it's not that good. Yeah, he has good straight line speed, definitely, but that's about it. He doesn't possess that lateral movement and agility. He certainly doesn't have much wiggle to him. He also doesn't seem to possess that instinct to do so and I don't think that's because of coaching. ONLY as far as running, up until this point, he has really just been Henne 2.0. We have to just hope that he becomes a superior pocket passer. It may suck, but I think it's true. It's the way it is.

Yeah, I mean, it certainly seems realistic to have expected the QB who everyone knew needed time to develop, to go into divisional games and carry the team, right out of the gate. With a terrible oline. And suspect receivers. And bad coaching.

I agree he needs to play better, but, again, to put all the onus on him is silly. A young, developing QB needed help...and he rarely got it.

There's all of 2 of those guys in the NFL who do it well.

One has mostly had the best defense/rb combo in the league and the other not that far behind.

I remember when CKap was vaunted for that dual threat and we all know how that turned out.

Dude this is all the offensive line, coaches, receivers dropping passes, RBs suck, and where is the Pope? Where is his help for Tannehill? These struggles have nothing NOTHING to do with Tannehill. After all QBs don't influence the game that much. The fact that Rodgers, Manning, and Brady are always on winning teams is just pure luck. They have hall of fame players at every position and their WRs are getting 30 YAC. Tannehill is a HOF QB so just step off with this BS.

Idk if that's the word. Maybe kind of unrealistic. There's 2/32 in a league where most teams are just trying to find a guy who's decent enough to not lose them many games.

Yeah why should we expect him to average more than 8 points per game against divisional opponents? Thats expecting too much.

If Tannehill just needed four years to develop then how can you judge the o-line, wide receivers and coaching in the meantime? You can't have it both ways.

No, no, I meant with the anal sex thing.

As for the dual threat QB, you may have misunderstood what I meant and that could certainly and probably be my fault. I was saying that he doesn't have that ability or instinct and we should hope for a great pocket passer. I understand about the amount of running QBs. It's great to have, but I would always want the QB to be a proficient, true pocket passer. It's the ability to sense the pressure and use those nimble, subtle lateral and horizontal movements IN the pocket that I like and want. He does need improvement in that area.

    Not sure if serious.

Question: was Tannehill drafted as a fairly raw prospect with a high ceiling who needed time to develop?

Question: was the oline bad? Was it full of raw prospects who needed time to develop?

Question: were the receivers all raw prospects who needed time to develop? Were the receivers good?

Seriously, you guys don't even try to have realistic conversations about these things. You just want to complain about Tannehill, and throw garbage posts at anyone who gives the slightest information that opposed your narrow view.

It's not Tannehills fault. It's everyone else's. That's your argument for Tannehill. No one is expecting him to carry the team. But 8 points per game against the division on the road? Really? Look at his TD INT ratio. It's terrible.

    lol

He can make those kinds of plays at times but once there's 2/3 free-rushers it's not generally good.

We need to keep moving him around w bootlegs and whatnot to get him going.

I'm not ready to pin our woes at Buffalo on Tannehill. The Bills are the Dolphins kryptonite. Their front 7 is very good and easily outmatches our OL. They make it tough to run, which means we have to pass more. They get to the QB very well which forces Tannehill into tough situations. They run the ball well and we don't defend it very well.

I'm not letting Tannehill of the hook because he definitely needs to step up his game but at the same time, they all do.

just three years. rule of thumb is you give them three years. stats from last year and this year are acceptable, the first two are worthless since he'll never play as poorly as then. goes for most qbs really. rodgers, manning, brees, etc

Is it possible our division opponents have him figured out since they face him more often? Yeah, away games are tough but that's brutal.

Yeah, the team has been to blame as well but damn.

Yeah man, that's where I want to see some of that back and forth agility. Sometimes there's just nowhere to go, but some improvement there would certainly be good for him and the team. We should draft nothing but OL next draft. :pointlol: .......Well...LB?.... S?....CB?....DE?......damn. Agree on moving him around.

Yeah, but they'll tell you it was unbalanced playcalling, and that Rodgers had to throw the ball too much. I guess 22 throws is alot for Rodgers.

In fairness to Ryan Tannehill virtually nobody goes into New England and wins so all those losses can be explained. Young QB in a VERY hostile environment going up against a loaded team that is coached by the best of a generation. Tannehill losing against NE I understand.

His playing poorly against the NYJ is less defensible but still, they had good defenses under Rex Ryan. His playing poorly against the Bills is less defensible than NE, but they too have had an awesome defense over the last several years.

Before you cast any judgement you have to admit that virtually any young QB would have very likely looked bad going up against the Bills defense twice a year, Rex Ryan twice a year and Bill Belichick twice a year.

It just so happens that the best defenses Ryan Tannehill faces are the ones in his own division. It's kind BS to compare that with someone like Andrew Luck or Matt Ryan for example who won a lot of games early in their careers beating lousy teams.

Agree, but its pretty obvious those Qbs are also better than Ryan. Agree strongly about the opponents. Going to into those hostile environments and alot of times in the cold is a tough task.

He still needs to overcome these things at some point if he is to be considered the franchise QB.
