http://www.sportsonearth.com/article/156367340/nfl-poor-offensive-line-play-reasons-zierlein So its not just the Dolphins it is most teams. So what do fanboys of #17 have to say about that?
Don't you know anything! We have the worst offensive line in nfl history. Our qb who will remain nameless gets sacked on average 13 times per game.No qb in nfl history would thrive under such conditions. Please watch the games before starting these stupid posts.
Not a Tannehill fanboy, question, what are the records of the teams with good O-lines vs those with poor ones? I have a suspicion that the teams with poor O-lines have struggling QB's. It's no secret that the NFL has a QB problem: http://www.wsj.com/articles/why-the-nfl-has-a-quarterback-crisis-1441819454 What you're not doing with this information is contextualizing it. If the NFL has mostly bad O-lines then you need to look at instances of QB's performing above their line's ability to protect them and QB's performing below their line's ability to protect them. We also need to remember that there are degrees of poor play. Just because two lines are bad, doesn't mean one can't be worse. Josh McCown has a pretty good line in Cleveland, and is having the second best season of his career. Is Tannehill playing above or below where his line dictates he should? Are other QB's taking poor lines and still putting up great numbers? Does the QB have a skillset that makes the best of a bad line? Is our line worse than others? There are a lot of questions you'd need to answer before making declarations.
The teams with offensive lines that are comparably as bad to the Dolphins(or worse- there are actually some) are generally much better at hiding it. They run the ball more, avoid more 3rd and longs, block their plays more effectively, use constraint plays more effectively, etc. Miami is just a ****show in that re: and has been since Philbin took over. A lot of people blamed it on him, but these last two weeks are basically Bill Lazor reverting to that and it's been incredibly destructive. Seriously, run the ****ing ball. You have the 2nd best yards per carry in the league and the 2nd least amount of carries.
No. But atleast make games closer instead of getting blown out. We got a better RB and WR's than New England and Buffalo and NYJ. This might not be all on Tannehill but he does have better players around him, we just can't win.
I said it before and I'll say it again. I'm not grading a player until the OC is worth taking seriously. Lazor is a joke and the offense doesn't work. We could have Joe Montana...he'd be looking bad right now.
You should know that's not sufficient to answer all of those questions for a number of reasons. Are you interested in engaging a debate or is this just a thinly veiled attempt at continuing the back and forth between polarized groups? It would save me the time of posting for no reason.
again, ignorant. I seriously doubt there's a team in the league that would take Miller and Ajayi over Dion lewis (pre-injury) and Blount. McCoy and K Williams are at least as good as our starting RBs. Furthermore, if you include TEs as receivers, the Patriots are way better than us at WR. Jets WRs arguably better than ours as well. Every one of those teams has a better Oline than us. Every one of those teams has a better defense than us.
No matter how you try to spin it, we're not getting blown out because of the offense. The defense doesn't have to give up long drive after long drive. For crying out loud, the Bills had what, two 100 yard rushers and a receiver who went over 150, didn't they?
Tannehill missed a few key tackles in the second level, and fell down covering receivers. Get with the program junior!
Well, terrible play call before the half potentially cost us a td, and definitely 3 points. I liked going for it, but from the one, you gotta pound it in. Pouncey cost us 2 points and a possession. Again. It's not all on Tannehill, no matter how much you want it to be. I'll reiterate, I don't think Tannehill is to blame for our struggles, but I'm kind of at the point that I don't care. If our team is not fib to be built the way it needs to be to succeed with Tannehill, then find someone with elite escapability, ala Wilson, and roll with that.
Question for y'all, 'cuz my stream wasn't the greatest, but did Sims have a realistic shot at catching that pass in the endzone, was the pass off, was it just a good defensive play?
Lol, getting defensive in here, I see. (I didn't say anything about Tannehill.) But you can't expect to win a game where your offense scores 14 meaningful points, and spots the other guys a safety on top of it. Let's not act like that output is good enough to win in the NFL.
The thread is about Tannehill. Read the OP. Also, the td that was a fumble, and the no sack that somehow turned into another third down where they then threw a td.
Yeah, I mean, Sims should have expected contact, from a much smaller defender. He's got to be able to block the guy out and make the catch. Would have run it with Ajayi, myself, though.
Well, Rivers is playing with a patch work offensive line held together with duct tape and he's done quite well, but Rivers is also 12 years deep in the league. Experience matters in my opinion, Tannehill will get there if we just stick with him. Stafford is playing behind a horrid O line and has struggled mightily, Luck is having his worst year as a pro behind his O line. Meanwhile, Ryan Fitzpatrick is playing quite well behind a nice O line, Derek Carr, and Carson Palmer have the luxury of good O line play, same with Andy Dalton. Both Russell Wilson and Kaepernick have struggled behind below average line play, meanwhile Cassell and Weeden just suck despite Dallas having the great O line. I don't know man, but i'd say there is something to the whole a QB needs the guys up front to block thing. Give Tannehill a solid O line and a running game and he becomes a top ten QB that can dice a defense up.
hey dude there's no reason to start your post with catergorizing and calling a part of this site a stupid name...this site is better than that..if you like coming here why dont you try a different approach to challenge the ones you want..
The offense moved the ball well. We had awful field position all game. We started at the 10 or inside the 10 almost every possession. It's hard to sustain long drives against good defenses. Of course points are all that counts, but I was actually encouraged by what I saw from the offense yesterday.
We have a pretty good running game when Lazor actually runs the ball. 2nd in the NFL in yards per carry. 31st in run attempts.
okay i'll feed the troll... How many teams in NFL HISTORY have given up 100+ yards rushing to 2 players and 150+ yards receiving. I'll give you a hint. MIAMI DOLPHINS BABY!!!! only team ever to do that feat. but it's tannehill's fault somehow.
most teams have bad o-olines? most teams stink too and qb play is at an all time low!!! shifting towards a running league.... we could benifit....
That's a silly stat though. Yes, the two 100 yard rushers is damning. But 150 to one player? Who cares. The guy only passed for 180 total. So it's to one guy instead of 400 yards to 8 different guys. Big deal. Tyrod was not effective to anyone else. That stat is just that, a curious stat. Giving up those gashing runs is more important.
Sims was open early in the route but thill got it to him too late. It was a nice play by the defender who thill gave a chance to make up ground and the db did a good job of taking advantage of that. A friend of mine who is a fins fan texted about thill being late live and actually sent me a pic of the play today. It was obvious on the replay. It's nitpicking though. Campbell did a terrible job with the timeouts. Looked clueless. I put very little blame on thill this game.
Watkins was a huge reason we lost. He had two long catches, one for a TD and one that set up a TD on the next play. Those yards absolutely mattered just as much as the big runs did. Just too many big plays allowed.
my bad a 44 yard receiving td isn't a big play. that wasn't even his longest of the game, 63 yards was. that's not a big play either. youre right sammy watkins dinked and dunked his way to 168 receiving yards. he had no impact at all. my bad. there it is boys, still tannehill's fault.
Tanne is, and has been bad on 3rd down, the money down, and he just does not get it done, this team has a lot of issues, but one of the biggest is QB play in crunch time, in his 4th season he's shown a tendency that is in the wrong direction in those spots, and there is just too much data to blame it all on the Oline.
But on third downs the wrs run the wrong routes, the o line gives up to much pressure, the backs don't pick up the blitz, the coach calls the wrong plays.Excuses excuses.Tired of it.Hopefully someday we can find a real qb and not this overpaid alex smith clone.

Give me a ****ing break! Now you are comparing him to a washed up peyton manning that should have retired last year.
well everyone wants to throw stats around to prove tannnehill sucks. I guess it only works when you push your agenda.
