What you say is debatable is exactly what we are debating. To me he looks about the same QB if not better, better in some areas (if u care about deeper passes) and regressed in others(pocket presence), but ultimately the offensive scheme is taking the biggest step back.

We should recognize that either way, we are dealing with opinions here.

Ofcourse. I just think that even the biggest 17 lovers have even called his season thus far worse.

I don't think so at all, maybe that makes me a 17 homer... I think this season is a great example of how QBS that looked great came back to earth, and QBS bashed nonstop narrowed the gap.

Wilson, Rodgers, Flacco, Kaepernick, Manning, Rivers, down, meanwhile Dalton, Newton, Palmer, Cutler way up...

Were all just hoping Tannes ascension will come with a good team, since he obviously wasn't drafted into it like some.

Well not sure I would say Ryan ever looked great...he had some ups and downs last year also. I mean, Matt Stafford looked great Thursday....it happens...Qbs can have great games. But the frequency is what separates the good with the "okay"

Stafford had a 41 TD / 16 INT SEASON, not just a good game or two... and they still want to run him out of town.

That's the point. Tannehill is not elite, hof level and never will be most likely. If you don't have a significant playoff run or SB win under your belt in the very recent past, the fanbase if generally not happy. Even then it only lasts a few years (ask Eli or Wilson very soon).

I understand the sentiment, Tanne has basically the same season as last year but now (since people are wondering if the arrow is still pointing up and the team is not winning enough) people are giving up. But let's be real, after the elites, the "top QBs" list changes every year depending on whose team is winning.

You know what's an odd stat, Tanne is on pace to have his 2nd lowest att total of his career.

That's because they aren't top QBs, the top QBs are the elite, everyone else, including Tanne, is much more dependent on their team, iow, tier 3 QBs.

Directly attributable to the coaching change. Before Philbin was fired, Tannehill was on pace to shatter his attempts total for the year. After that, new philosophy of emphasizing running more and you get fewer passing attempts per game.

Stumbled upon another "stat" that proves how ridiculous it is to base an evaluation off of them.

Best STATISTICAL Wr corps in the league??

New Orleans, New England and San Diego.

    Funny.

Are there any examples of QBs that were able to significantly get better sliding in the pocket and with their overall awareness? I've been impressed with Palmer this season, he seems so adept at avoiding sacks and stepping in to throws. I know he is a statue compared to Ryan.

I don't recall his earlier years but is something he has gotten better at? If Ryan is going to be limited with his ability to roll out, could he develop like that?

Here is an illustration of what some of us are debating when it comes to Ryan and other QBs facing pressure.

The Palmer led Cardinals scored 39 points against the Seahawks. Great article.

Palmer was about as complete of a QB as you would want....stood tall in the pocket eluded rushers and made fantastic throws.

After that hit he took in the knee in the playoff game vs Pitt, he fell off in general for a bit....seemed to lack confidence in stepping up in the pocket and making throws. He then became irrelevant and came back looking like the old Carson.

As of today I wouldn't take 3 QBs in this league over Carson Palmer, he is the perfect QB.

That low hit on his knee in the playoffs was one of the dirtiest things I've seen in the NFL.
I know his OL pushed the defender in to him but there was and effort to wrap his arm around the leg low

That is hard to answer, but I believe any player can improve on any area they struggle in. It could certainly be something Tannehill can improve via coaching and practice.

Personally, I think Ryan needs a good QB coach more than he needs a dominant offensive line.

The chain of events that hit caused??? Off the top of my head I believe Pitt went on to win the SB? They don't win that game if Palmer is healthy....the Bengals become a powerhouse never draft Dalton, Ocho Cinco likely ends up in the HOF as does Palmer.

Certainly is plausible to think the make a SB appearance or two.

Im rooting for Ari or Minn in the NFC, don't care for any of the AFC "contenders".

A NE ARI SB could be fun

    Glad you asked.

I'm a people person who sees the good in everyone. I'm a man who believes in good debate, but more importantly, a healthy and peaceful debate. I love every single one of fellow Dolphins fans.

I'm also a loser who has a lot of free time.

$50,000 a year sounds good, Boik. Thank you. I can start on Monday!

Looked a lot worse last season with the "average" Qbs once Palmer was hurt. Thats no accident. Carson Palmer is one of those Qbs that can elevate any situation.

Better coached, better on offense and defense. Better schemes, better execution, better qb play, better everything...except Lamar and Ajayi > Zona RBs

Thanks for the article. I've been wanting to bring Palmer up but didn't have the stats to back it up. I watch a lot of his games because he starts in one of my fantasy leagues. He's not mobile but he moves in the pocket well. Hell he even scrambled a week or two ago. To find out he's pressured that much says something.

I got him. The vietnamese dollar (dong) is around $22,500 per dollar. So $2.25 US is headed his way.

In other news, the Memphis QB that the Dolphins are interested in threw 7tds in the first half today. Mike Hull was waived, some safety from the squad was signed and Mathews is questionable with an illness.
