Dolphins plan to address protection for Tannehill.

    Article from Armando Salguero.

    TLDR Version:

What I really want to see from Miami next year is solid protection for Tannehill and a feisty run game. Of course, Tannehill assassinating teams from behind center would be awesome, but I don't just want to see some incredible QB performances in isolation. I don't believe that can bring success in the NFL. I want to see a deeper offense side. A team that doesn't just have a good Quarterback but a diverse attack. I think a great deal of all of this comes from great OL play, and so I'm really hoping that the OL conundrum gets solved this year. Don't know how realistic a hope that is, but that's the one thing that would make me happiest - an upright QB and a dominant OL helping to build a diverse offense.

Dallas Thomas should not be on the roster. Don't give ANYONE the opportunity to pick out a good block here or there on film and make him out to be something he isn't. Just get rid of him. And Damien Williams too.

100% agree we ALWAYS say we need play makers, and in the past we have gotten a few of those.. They did nothing while here because our 100 quarterbacks kept getting smashed.. Even with Jake Long we were not dominate yeah we had a few 1000 yard backs but that not important as much anymore. Keeping the defense honest, and guessing it what we need and giving the QB and receivers time to get open. Tannehill IMHO has 2 years to cement his legacy with the Dolphins or he's done as a starter in the NFL. Hes done some great things, and some bad things. He's gotten great numbers 2 years in a row but that hasn't translated into wins.

Im not sure we can address all the positions we need via free agency / draft I just hope we dont go after NAMES for PR sake and actually get a number of players who will fit our scheme and improve our depth on both sides of the ball.

A power RB in the mold of a Ronnie Brown or Knowshon Moreno would do WONDERS for the OL, their pass pro, and the offense as a whole. Teams would have to pick their poison.

Improving the OL is absolutely important (most important thing to do on offense).. I just hope Gase doesn't neglect the defense because we get gashed on defense too.

Ajayi is that guy, but we have to commit to it as a gameplan, not abandon it immediately which we've done for years

Did you guys notice how Green Bay barreled over Washington in the 2nd half with their running game..

The Dolphins would have thrown 60 passes the second they were down 11-0

From the outside looking in, it always seemed to me like Dallas Thomas was a "coaches' pet" type of player. He was bad, but apparently he did something the staff liked, so he was pretty much untouchable out there, no matter how badly he did when bullets were flying. I am hopeful that Coach Gase will go watch the game film of the 2015 Miami Dolphins and just cut his bum ***.

And if thill doesn't perform, it'll still be the line wasn't gelling yet, new offensive scheme, WR's dropped perfect passes, Philbin ruined him etc......

There are no more valid excuses this time. You got a coach expressly hired to make Tannehill a franchise QB, one that's now said he'll improve the OL, etc.. Either Tannehill performs (and I mean in 2016!) or I think Gase needs to look for a different QB. Otherwise he's going to get himself fired too.

Anyway, I will hope for the last time we see Tannehill is worthy of that "franchise" moniker. But man.. imagine if Gase succeeds. We'll have a young, system-flexible coach with a franchise QB for many many years. The potential benefit here is enormous. It's just hard to be optimistic given our history..

A dolphins source told Armando you were right, we were wrong? Lol willing to bet that source is a Starbucks barista that works down the street from the Dolphins HQ.

Well, saying you will improve the OL and doing it may be different things. 'If' the OL is improved... 'then' there would no more excuses. If the OL isn't fixed up and the defense doesn't get a major overhaul at LB... it is likely the same old, same old.

Sorry but I have bought into the hype far too often under this ownership. It seems every off season they hire a new head coach or a new GM or they go out and sign the biggest free agents on the market.

We are then told things will be different and that they are going to fix the issues on the team.

I am willing to give Gase the benefit of the doubt for now, but I want to see a much better product on the field before I will believe anything has changed with this organization.

That's the approach I've taken since the Cam Cameron hire. Expect nothing and anything to the plus side will be a pleasant surprise. Came OH SO close to getting high from all the hype during this offseason. I knew better. Won't fall for that again.

I would at least like to see how Billy Turner would look at LG..... we all know Thomas sucks there (and everywhere ) and Turner has yet to get any looks on his natudal left side...even though he was a LT his whole career....maybe he can play a good LG..Him an Douglas battle it out....i still do not understand the tradeup for him when we could have just taken the LSU Guard who is doing so well in Carolina
