Sorry. But I was excited to read this article because of the head line and first few posts regarding. And I couldn't get past the writers just pure blind hatred for previous coaches...

I mean seriously? And then proceeds to show a gif of the most simple type routes we've done plenty of times, and urges us to believe we haven't.

The doldrums of the offseason tend to make articles like this hard to read. More consistency is what I hope Gase can bring to Tannehill's game someone that is going to back him up , rather than throw him under the bus like Philbin.

 

While Gase prefers to run a much more vertical pass offense (or at least he did with the Bears this season), prepare to see a handful of bubble screens per game. And yes, I'm sick of them, too. Good riddance, Bill.

 

2014? No. That was Trestman as coach, Gase was still in Denver with Fox.

 

I agree that the Bears lost a lot of key players, but the offense was not lethal. It was crippled and Gase did a good job with what they had left. But definitely not lethal

 

I wouldn't call it a joke, but I agree that there wasn't much good insight there. These magic route combinations in the piece are basic and very common in the League. Like, every team utilizes that type of thing, including Lazor's scheme last year. The screen thing was sort of interesting, but that's about it.

My take on his year with the Bears is essentially this...Despite all the injuries, the Bears offense improved a lot in two key categories: rushing attempts per game, and yards per pass attempt.

2014: 22.2 rushes per game, 4.1ypc, 1,441yds (27th in NFL), 17th in ToP
2015: 29.2 rushes per game, 4.0ypc, 1,854yds (11th in NFL), 8th in ToP

2014: 6.6ypa (29th in NFL)
2015: 7.3ypa (13thin NFL)

Those two trends tell me that he gets it. Those are things that will win you games. The fact that the team improved these with nearly all their skill players getting hurt is more impressive. If he focuses on those two areas with our offense, we will be golden.

 

Yeah. When we first announced him I was lukewarm about the hiring but the more I read about Gase the more I feel we may have finally found our coach. I definitely think he understands offense. The trick will be what happens to our defense

 

OK, I could buy that.

 

They ran the ball more thus they had more yards rushing.. That would be true for any team. about 112 times more.

 

And that is something to be commend Gase in doing! They weren't a winning team last year and he stuck with the run.

And YPA in the passing game was Cutlers career high I believe. To do that, while dropping his interception total is hard. So both of those two things with Gase in Chicago intrigue me to say the least.

I have to basically agree, and to add to it, using Denver highlights to illustrate his point is inconsequential, because Denver ran Manning's offense that he brought from Indy, so that's obviously not Gase's offense.

Also, putting the onus on Tanne for pre-read stuff is not a great idea for the success of the offense since that is an area he struggles with, and I think our offense looked the way it did because of Tanne's limitations, especially his inability to read open.

 

Since the theory is being proposed that Gase is solely responsible for Cutler's improvements ....... what did Gase adjust for him? Is one single season enough to justify a QB whisperer?

 

One season? No.

But its not one season.

He was a major part of Kitna's best season.
He was a major part of Tebow's best season.
He was a major part of Post Indy (the injury that has limited his throwing ability) Manning's best season.
He was a major part of Cutler's best season.

That's 4 very different QBs. Spread out over a number of years.

Everyone from Jon Kitna to John Elway to Peyton Manning praise Gase and his contributions. Even the uncoachable Cutler. You can look them up for yourself.

 

Kitna had the same season PRIOR to Gase becoming the QBC, so lets not pin that on Gase

You keep saying that and its just not true,. You are literally pulling it straight from your butt and have nothing to back it up. Meanwhile, we have quotes from Manning and Elway directly refuting the lies your telling.

I've mentioned a couple times an interview I heard with manning on gase...was completely not full of sh$$ when he said this gase guy is ''very smart, challeneges me and inspires me to become better''.it wasn't a fluff piece it was genuine respect for the intellect..Thats all I got..but it stood out to me when it happened, and i remember stoping and thinking, ''damn man, that was some serious shi%...therein lyes my hope for the new coach, if you can inspire and outwork one of the most cerebral alpha male qbs of all time, I'm gonna give him a legit chance to coach our bad football team.

There's also Clady and Manning telling us that Gase designed and called plays. If direct quotes from people aren't enough, ain't nothing gonna do it.

Peyton had an injury during that tailspin, much like he had a plantar injury this year, if you'll recall. I'm sure a torn quadriceps ain't no big though.

 

Take that praise with a grain of salt though. Everyone praised Philbin too.

 

No one knows how any of these first time coaches will perform. It's all opinion. Just hope for the best.

You've seen praise that is people trying to say something nice like Rodgers about Philbin, then you have praise where Manning gives actual anecdotes.

Its my fault. If I wanted you to be on Gase's side bad enough, I should have come out against his hire.

 

I will commend Gase for that, as he kept the Chicago defense pretty balanced. Which is smart when you have a turnover prone QB and two good RBs in Forte and Langford.

But he didn't do anything magical with the run game. It was about as efficient as it was the year before.

 

Sparano too. The Ravens and their genius front office preferred him over John Harbaugh.
