Sure, why wouldnt the Rams give up 3 solid (young) starters AND a 1st rd pick for a suspect QB with a huge contract?

Victor Ochi. was a beast in the East West Shrine game. Very quick off the edge.

I like these guys from WKU
QB Doughty. tall accurate passer and leader
WR Dangerfield , reminds me of Matthews.
TE Higby was leading nation in yards and TD's before injury
CB Prince Acmorasomthing or other. 4.3 speed, played well in NFLPA game. Has nice coverage skills and powerful build.
K Schwettman I don't think he missed a kick ever.

Doughty didn't look good at all IMO.

    Maybe just a bad start.

He made some really nice throws, but had them called back due to penalties, but his over all stat line was not good. Thing is in games like that you don't get the entire game to show what you can do.

Anyone notice that sometimes Wentz just inexplicably misses a throw? There are some times where the idea is good but the ball just gets away from him. I don't know if it's a function of not having the receivers to bail him out but a few of his throws just go wide, high, or short for no apparent reason. That reminds me a bit of Tannehill. On other plays he makes the perfect decision by going low and away or high and outside and you're liking it. I don't know what to think of him just yet on the whole. I've seen him on a few plays just not see the defender as well. He knows where the ball should go and throws it there, sometimes regardless of the defense; another Tannehill trait. Some guys have tried to tell me it's because Tannehill has faith in his arm but a lot of the time it looks like a mental deficiency. Wentz seems to have that same 'faith'.

That said, I still need to see more.

EDIT: Man does this guy stand still in the pocket. He ends up getting hit a few times simply because he stands still waiting for the play to develop. If he'd shift a bit in anticipation of pressure, especially on slow developing plays, he wouldn't end up getting hit as often. I'm pretty we had Carson Wentz in 2012 and 2013.

I cannot say I was really impressed with him.

I'm wondering if the Wentz hype isn't people not wanting to miss out on the wave. He has exploded almost overnight as a prospect and I'm not so sure some of that isn't just guys not wanting to get caught with their pants down on this. Every new person talking about him sort of bolsters the previous hype and guys are becoming more forgiving of some obvious flaws as a result.

I feel like hearing about Gabbert all over again. Locker was the consensus top QB for 2011 a year out, but then the dominance of Cam Newton happened. Locker ended up falling down draft boards but was still the first QB taken after Newton. Ponder was also talked up for a while. I'm not the most connected person in the world but I felt like Gabbert didn't start getting hype until late in the process. When I watched him, I came away unimpressed. I mentioned him once on Twitter as having a chance to be an NFL starter because people I trusted felt that way. I just looked up WalterFootball's rundowns of Gabbert while typing this and you can tell when he starts getting hyped up:

Wentz doesn't even have a history of comments on WF. The first thing posted was essentially a week ago. I'm really not interested in Wentz but I have to say congrats to the guy because this groundswell is going to get him a solid paycheck in a few months.

His mobility + size is what seperates him from the other 'big 2'. Motion, reading cov, accuracy can probably all be improved... but a big guy-QB that can actually run the ball is harder to find. Cam had some of these problems early too... but dang he could always run with it.

    OLB Kyler Fackrell Utah St.

This guy looks pretty darned good- 6-5, 245 lbs. with speed, quicks, sheds blocks effectively and plays smart. Looks like he plays in space pretty well but he might be best suited pass rushing from a 3-4, but good player nonetheless:

    DT Robert Nkemdiche Ole Miss

This guy is the real deal, strong at the point of attack, meat hooks for arms and oh so quick (see 4:49). I don;t see any reason why he couldn't play DE as well- DL isn;t my preference at #8 but this guy and Suh would be a nightmare for other teams.

Interesting character- plays saxophone in a band, rough upbringing and raised in part by his coaches, more well spoken than I imagined. Doesn't seem to be the mess that I expected after the weed and 4th floor jump story that came out all over the news.

Wow, Jim thanks for the highlight film on this kid. Man, he just dominates his opponents at the level his team is in. Great instinct for the ball, sure tackler, looks pretty good in coverage, plays very fast, looks like he creates a lot of turnovers and gets some himself, tackling machine....I swear, some of the plays reminded me so much of Zach.....if he could bring this level of play to the NFL and Dolphins, we would surely have a steal and our future MLB for years to come.

looks to be more of a zone CB and he is a little smaller, but I love his physicality and sticks with his receivers in man-man pretty well. Hes in my top 5 CB so far.

Ronald Blair III DE Appalachian St.

This guy, Alex Wahl and Javon Hargrave are on my watch list for the later rounds. Blair looks like the real deal to me as a 4-3 DE.

Jim, I don't know if I have told you before, but I think you have a great eye for talent. Blair, here is another one you show us, playing against a very good Clemson team and he is just dominating their OL, he living in their back field. Looks like he just explodes off of the line and has a great eye for the ball and whoever has it. I wonder if he always plays this fast and aggressive...love it!!!!!! Please you and CK keep them coming...lol...I really want Wahl

Thanks for the compliment Fin4Ever- Wahl is smart, watch him here at :48, sidesteps the OL making him look as inept as Dallas Thomas even though he's plenty big and physical to engage him:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MoMYH8g0Dp4

The only reason I'm not all over Wahl in those draft simulators is that he's so unknown he isn't even an option yet. I read this article about him, smart and determined kid:

"But while at Upper Iowa, Wahl's path on the gridiron took several more detours. The fifth game of his freshman year he tore an ACL and suffered a fractured kneecap and missed the rest of the year and ended up leaving school completely for the following fall semester.

"I went to the fall camp and after a day or two I knew I wasn't going to be able to have the year I wanted to have," he said. "I took the semester off. My knee wasn't getting any better. My plan was to go back in January, but the knee was still jacked up. The fractured kneecap wasn't healing like it was supposed to."

That led to some dark days for Wahl. "I was down and out and depressed," he said. "I seemed out of it. I was sitting around at home."

But Wahl made a decision while at home that changed the course of his football career.

"While I was sitting at home a voice told me to go to the bookstore," he said. "I picked up the book ‘Outwitting the Devil' by Napoleon Hill. It was exactly what I needed to turn things around. I gave my life to God and things changed from that point on."

    http://football.dailyherald.com/article/20160127/sports/160128997/

Blair is the real deal, I loved what he did against Clemson, but fall to us later in the draft because he's a bit small, probably a 4/3 DE only. But what a player, perfect for us, bring him on. Nkemdiche is a top five talent in my book, what a player- we're talking Reggie White stuff here in terms of power and speed/quicks from a 300 pounder. Look at this game against Alabama- as with Blair vs Clemson, all the more impressive because of what he does against an elite opponent:

Javon Hargrave for sure, highly interested in him as a small school guy that could make it big.

Victor Ochi is the other small school guy you want to pay attention to that way.

Not certain about Ronald Blair. Obviously I've got to see more than just a cherry-picked 2 minutes from the Clemson game. Some of what I saw in that video is good. Some of what I saw on that video looked good but begs qualification based on positioning and responsibilities.

I've registered some of my concerns on Wahl in the Club thread.

    S Keanu Neal Florida 6-1 216 lbs.

The only question to me is, is he a FS or SS in the NFL? Played deep at UF- hitter, enforcer, physical, aggressive, hands, reflexes, change of direction looks good and from what I've seen he has some wheels. 40 time listed at 4.63, he looks faster than that to me. Heck of a player, maybe he drops a few pounds to play FS in the pros, maybe not.

    OT Tyler Marz Wisconsin

Marz reminds me of Ja'Wuan James in that he a big dude at 6-7 315 lbs and doesn't wow me athletically, but he's efficient and he can move bodies on the LOS and gets the job done. A bit lumbering, but efficient. Not pretty to watch but effective. Can he contain the best speed rushers in the NFL? I don't know. But he played LT for 3 years at Wisconsin and held his own against a dominating Alabama defense and defensive line.

If Henry is available in the 2nd rd I'd have a hard time not taking him and letting Lamar Miller walk. Miller is good, but doesn't deserve big money imo. It's tough because we have so many needs, bit Henry is the real deal imo. Not nifty but he's a load, big time power and some speed, a workhorse.

Ochi looks like he has some tools, but imo better suited for a 3-4 defense. 6-1 246 lbs, certainly is quick off the snap and can pass rush. But in a 4-3 how much of that will he be doing, he looks ok against the run and I haven't seen him yet in coverage or in space. I'd be very concerned about a guy of that size, mainly a speed rusher who is good but not great at bending the arc, playing 4-3 DE. Plays faster than his combine timed 4.86 and can certainly pass rush, will be interesting to see if he can play OLB in a 3-4. I wonder if he could play MLB in a 4-3 and provide some size and pass rush there, or if that would just be a waste of his best abilities. Interesting player, as with Noah Spence the first I heard of his was through you.

But, I also want to keep Lamar Miller as well, wow, just think, Lamar Miller, Jay Ajayi, and Derrick Henry, with 2 awesome guards to go with our current pretty good OL, and great play calling by Gase and better protection for Tannehill, with a very good game by him most all of the time which is why I want to see The best options for him in the passing game as well. I just really love our top 4 receivers in whatever order, Landry, Parker, Matthews, and Stills, and maybe Hazel will be able to Contribute this year.... as well as Cameron restructuring, Sims getting even better, and Stoneburner getting even better. We honestly have the makings of a high powered offense this year and I also think Vance Joseph will get our defense playing at a High level this year

If Miller gets a big offer elsewhere I'd rather let him walk and roll with Ajayi or Henry and spend the money on defense or the OL. Miller is a good back -good- not great.

    Jack Allen C/G Michigan St.
    6-1 1/4 294 lbs.

If we go defense early, here's my pulling Guard and maybe get another Center, Graham Glasgow from Michigan, and play him opposite at OG. Dallas Thomas goes to the local garbage depot, Billy Turner to swing Tackle. Suits me fine. Tough, strong at LOS and can move. Look at the kick slide at 4:36- quick off the snap, quick feet:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9nV9VS8UL2Q

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lSsZ2Ok8pJk

If the team wanted a perfect sized Guard with speed and feet they should have drafted Trai Turner in the 3rd rd two years ago and saved their 4th rd pick. Get him to pull and pass protect and Glasgow to bash some heads.
