Yeah, but only at his price and as a guy who's clearly no lower than second on the depth chart. So, he's almost certainly gone.

Keep him and Miller and upgrade the Oline and the offense has a good chance to move forward next year. I hope we can keep him but I think he might get a big offer from someone with cap room

He wont be a No 2 here . Parker and Landry will sew up those spots .However he could be a 2b if TBaum presents the scenario like a politician would.:wink2:

he was RT favorite guy last year i cant see him not being a 2B at worst.
but maybe DP getting fully healthy and more playing time changes that.

i would love to have a 3 headed monster

Keep him here, he really is the #2, because the boundary WRs are #1 and #2, even if Landry gets more targets, Landry is and should be the outlet WR and not targeted 166 times, it would make him more dangerous, now he's just a volume target and he's getting his brains beat in for it.

Matthews, Parker and Landry is a formidable WR trio, keep him here.

He wants to stay as a #2... given our depth chart, that's not going to happen. So, he likely isn't going to stay... he's just saying all the right things for now..

I'm not even ready to call an unproven DeVante Parker #1 or #2 yet, regardless his draft position and how good he was in last years camp. In this passhappy league, with RT under center and (unfortunately) Miller maybe gone, there will be enough passes to catch to keep three very good (no one is great right now) receivers happy. Would love they keep Matthews!

IF you lose Miller and Matthews you lose a big chunk of your offense.

There was a time in Green Bay where Greg Jennings, Donald Driver, Jordy Nelson, AND Jermichael Finely were being targeted by Rodgers and he amassed 522 attempts at the high point of that era. Tannehill, since 2013, has attempted no less than 586 passes per season. Why not spread those targets around to Landry, Parker, and Matthews? What have people seen from Stills to say he's worth keeping over Matthews? I'd rather trade him and re-sign Matthews if anything.

Parker may still need more time anyway. I don't know where some of you are getting this surety that he'll top out as an elite #1 guy. Anyone care to give me the lotto numbers?

When will you come to understand that this is what just what sounds good.

This is the line their agents tell them to say.

This is what other teams and the general public like to hear.

If a guy says something like,"I can't wait to get out of here."

It doesn't go over very well. It could even end up costing the player a lot of money.

This is like a politician saying,"I have a plan."

    This means nothing.

He had all of the skills to warrent being a high first round pick a year ago, and when he finally got healthy and was given the opprotunity, he played really, really well. Combine that with the offensive system that Gase has brought to the team, and I hardly think that its "picking lotto numbers" to project Parker to step up and have a really solid second season.

in this case with Parker you always have to worry about his injury. Clearly he is very talented.

Any updates on this front? I see the Patriots have expressed interest. Screw Lamar Miller, this is the offensive FA that they need to retain from last season. Targeting Landry to the extent they have is unsustainable. If you let Matthews walk, suddenly the depth at WR doesn't look all that compelling. Old mother hubbard, only Hazel's in the cupboard.

If Matthews gets a fair shake from a reps perspective, he seems like a sure-fire bet to outperform the contract he's likely to receive on the open market. Whenever he's been called upon over the duration of his rookie deal, all he's done is make plays. Seems totally insane to let him walk, especially at his age.

Miller is a way bigger asset.

What has Stills done here to prove he's worthy of a roster spot over Matthews?

As far as Miller goes, I'm not getting into the debate over the importance of the RB position. But if you want my take, feel free to take a gander at my post history. Either way, I'm glad the organization appears to feel that Miller isn't worth anywhere close to his rumored asking price.

Yes, but my point being that I would never pay a RB. I think its a pretty shoddy investment, even for a generational talent like AP. Its a plug-and-play position, and productive guys are literally picked up off the street every single season. Hell, Lamar Miller himself was a 4th round draft pick.

Its just not worthwhile endeavor to invest large swaths of resources into the position.

what would you deem the RB spot to be worth money wise?

You must be too young to remember all the lean RB years before RW came along and after.

No, I just look around the league and see teams picking up RBs off the scrap heap and not missing a beat. KC, Seattle and Pittsburgh all lost top 10 running backs last year - and what happened? West, Rawls and DeAngelo stepped in and the teams didn't miss a beat.

If you're going to argue the opposite position, please reference some situations throughout the league. What has AP done for the Vikings? What did Todd Gurley's addition do for the fortunes of the Rams? How about Demarco Murray in Philadelphia, does Dallas regret not being on the hook for that contract? Please, by all means - let's hear an argument highlighting the critical importance of that position to success in today's NFL.

You are kinda arguing that the RB has no value. I would disagree with that. The teams you mentioned and also state "didn't miss a beat" finished just as the other teams did.... I. E. none of them won it all. What position in your opinion does have value?

Perhaps the teams you mentioned were just good run teams and you could plug any back in there, but to say the RB doesn't matter seems odd. I would think most teams would take an AP or a Gurley and perhaps they would put the teams you mentioned over the top and into the championship

Why the fuss over Matthews? Miller was the guy you should have paid. Even then, Ajayi might come close to 4.7 avg. Per rush.

The transition for running backs is pretty seamless from college to pros. Wide receivers is way more of a hit or miss, but you could get Sterling Sharpe in the draft if you're really that freaked out about replacing Matthews.

I'm really happy for Matthews, he's gonna be good and appreciated in Tennessee. Same for Lamar in Houston.

I agree with this fully. We have bigger needs to address and losing Lamar and Matthews shouldn't set us back because we have the depth to replace the two players imo.

Matthews was the best WR on the roster last year before being injured. Miller was by far the best RB the Dolphins have had since Ricky Williams.

Yet you seem to feel this players can be easily replaced and that other needs are more important. Of course those needs, at LB, OL, the secondary, and the DL haven't exactly been easy to fill for this team in years.

So let's just let two of the best players on the roster go to other teams because we think they can be easily replaced. The logic of that just befuddles me.

The reason the Dolphins have been so mediocre for years is because they have drafted poorly and the few solid players they have drafted, they lose in free agency or they trade them away.

They restructure players like Misi and Cameron Jordan who were below average at best last year, while letting their better players walk. I understand losing Vernon, because he certainly wasn't worth the money the Giants are going to pay him.

As as far as Miller and Matthews are concerned. They should have signed both these players because they are better than the other players at their positions now on the roster.

Right now now this team is no better than last year and is probably worse. They need to add a lot of talent still in free agency and in the draft to even have a chance to win 8 games this season, IMO.

You're really overlooking how Jay Ajayi has the talent to give the same or near to the same production that Lamar has gave us as with the limited time he got last year he showed he got that talent to become a lead back in this league and during that limited time he at times he played better than Lamar. Also, you're overlooking the possible growth of Parker, Landry, and Stills playing together for a period of time under a set system and whatnot.

But it seems you're more into doom and gloom and I don't blame you with this franchise. Anyways, I'm more willing on trying to patch up the weaknesses we have instead of strengthen two positions I would say we have good depth behind.

Mathews was average at best. Had iffy hands and no breakaway speed.

    Move on.
