Reports Monday have the Dolphins and Eagles working on a trade that would send cornerback Byron Maxwell to Miami a year after they signed him to a six-year, $63 million deal.

Maxwell may not be the only 2015 acquisition moving on after a year with the Eagles.

Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that linebacker Kiko Alonso would also be involved in a deal that would bring draft pick compensation back to Philadelphia. Alonso was acquired in a trade with the Bills for running back LeSean McCoy last year.

    Confirmed!

"2:25pm: Maxwell and Alonso have both been informed that they’re being dealt to the Dolphins, pending physicals, per Ian Rapoport of NFL.com (via Twitter). Contract work between the Dolphins and Maxwell is being finalized, tweets Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald. The deal can’t become official until the start of the new league year."

Assuming that Philadelphia's compensation is no greater than the value of a 4th round pick (roughly 100 points, per the NFL's Draft Trade Value guide), this is an absolute steal. Two players of starting caliber for a couple of (potentially) late draft choices who would be lucky to see the active roster at anytime in the 2016 season; yes, please.

Speculation on the deep internets is the swapping of our first rounders is part of the deal.

I think Maxwell was in the wrong scheme in Philly and would do a bit better here. Alonzo is more of a high risk high reward if he can stay healthy something that the middle is missing so i can roll with it. It begs the question of which way we go in the draft, do we still try and go after Myles or do we go CB to go with Maxwell.

If so, then I'm hesitant about this deal. But then again, this draft class is deeper than it is top-heavy.

Horrible as your #1 CB perhaps... As a 2? And addressing another need with Alonzo what is wrong with it?

This would mean dropping from 8 to 13. Not the worst idea ever if it nets us two decent starters. The question remains though...does this net us two decent starters?

    Alonzo can't stay healthy that's a fact.
Instead of signing grimes we get an average corner at best and this is costing us draft picks that we can't afford to give up.

I don't have a problem with moving back 5 spots if it yields us 2 starters, especially if either of them can regain old form. Our roster is so full of holes that really getting 3 starters out of 1 pick is pretty good.

Yes because of that one draft its always a mistake to drop back.....

That would be like saying you should always drop back look at what the Rams got for the RG3 pick!

I like it, it also means from a value stand point IF we draft a Guard, we are not overdrafting one at #8, three starters from one pick is a great move.

Next question is, if he plays Will, where does Jenkins wind up?

Pumpdogs is like LBs in which he would find a reason to complain about any move this team could make..... Aside from maybe straight up cutting our qb.

If the physicals look good and the compensation isnt extremely one sided, only an idiot would be upset about this. A 5 place swap is hardly a big deal for this. Even with the talent in this class.

Let's say the draft goes like this:

    #1 Titans, Tunsil
    #2 Browns, Wentz
    #3 Chargers, Bosa
    #4 Cowboys, Buckner
    #5 Jaguars, Jack
    #6 Ravens, Ramsey
    #7 49ers, Goff

At #8 the most likely pick would be Vernon Hargreaves, a talented cover corner; Ronnie Stanley is a talented tackle, but we have Albert and James, so the issue is at guard; or possibly Ezekiel Elliot, a talented running back but we might bring back Lamar Miller or even target someone outside the first round. The other pass rush prospects like Floyd, Robinson, Lawson and co could be possibilities, but at the same time they should be available when the Eagles are on the clock. As such, we could trade back to #13 and still land a talented pass rusher, maybe Elliot is still on the board, or we could address the corner situation with another prospect like William Jackson, Eli Apple, or Kendall Fuller. There's lots of option we could take at #13, most of which could turn into a star player.

As for Maxwell and Kiko. Remember that Kiko put up excellent stats as a rookie linebacker in Buffalo. If he can return to that standard of performance he will be a big asset to this defense. And Maxwell is a decent zone corner, which should fit in well in this scheme. If they revive their careers then we have two good players plus the player we take with the Eagles pick. For me, that isn't a bad draft haul.

Exactly. Yet ironically youre so super confident we are going to be utilizing that draft pick so much better at 8 than if it was 5 picks later? Lol. Please dude. By your logic our first round pick is going to be a waste anyway?
Also. You do not live in anything even close to reality if you support cutting our qb. But thats not for this thread.

If you couldn't see the eliteness that was in Dion Jordan 'the prospect' coming out, and how the ineptitude of the staff ( and eventually drugs ) is what was his undoing, then there is no helping you.

Question please answer. Is kiko alonzo injury prone? He got hurt in college and 2 out of 3 years in the pros.
As for maxwell he was playing with 3 pro bowl players in the secondary and thats the reason that defence was so good and won a superbowl not him.
Go check out the eagles message boards and you will see how happy they are to unload these two players.

You must be young because I have been watching this team for years and have a clue what a good move is.
