Just an FYI to everyone... we just finished upgrading our thanks plugin to a new version. The old thanks are currently importing in to the new system, so your prior thanks/thanked numbers will be updated over the next few hours to reflect all of your previous thanks. This change brings us in to a thanks system that is supported by TapaTalk, so your TapaTalk initiated thanks will now register correctly.
I hope our previous thanks/like numbers are still being updated because I know mine are off as of right now. It's registering given at 186 (was 750+) and received at 12 (was 2,200+) for me. Not really a huge deal, but for myself the numbers calm my ocd and it makes me more likely to post things. I'm going to kind of miss seeing all the usernames below your own posts.. right now I'm not seeing anything under my own, only below others. Also seeing how many posts from a person were liked, instead of only just a person's total posts.
Yes, the old info is still being imported. The process actually filled up the drive on the server (that's why the site was offline briefly, earlier) due to the massive amount of thanks we have. I'll need to take the site down again for about 15 minutes to keep that from happening again, then continue with the import process.
As for the display anomalies some folks are reporting, I'll be investigating those once I get the import situation finalized. Currently, I'm seeing things as I would expect them for me(e.g. I can see who thanked my posts, but A13 can't), but I think that might just be a group membership issue. That's next on my list.
We're about 1.7 million posts into the like import out of our 2.7 million posts. That's after about 12 hours of running... so I'd expect everyone's totals to be back to normal some time this evening.
In my testing, I'm not seeing an issue with not being able to see the thanks on my own posts. If anyone is still having that issue, can you post a screenshot of what you see on your post that has been liked along with a link to the post so I can check it out? Edit: I did just briefly see an instance where there didn't appear to be any likes on a post of mine that I know had them. That appears to be due to a technology called AJAX where only part of the web page is updated when you post something new. A refresh of the page updated the whole thing and correctly displayed my post with the likes below it.
One thing that I've noticed is that when I go to my settings tab for notifications, it doesn't show that posts I've made have been liked now, even if they have. It does show threads with new posts like it always has.
Do you mean under the "Latest Reputation Received" section? I'm investigating that, but I believe that the way the plugin adds reputation, it bypasses that mechanism. I actually have a question open with the author to verify.
Yes, that settings menu is actually the main way that I interact with/use the board. Are there better ways that I'm missing?
The author confirmed that the thanks plugin doesn't utilize the reputation log, it just adds reputation points directly. As far as seeing your posts that have been liked, I've enabled the notification system for the likes (that may get old and get turned off, pending feedback from the community) and you can also see them on the Like/Thanks tab in your profile (e.g. http://www.thephins.com/forums/member.php?1266-3Pmi&tab=thanks&pp=20#thanks) If you were using the settings page to monitor subscribed threads/forums, that functionality still works. Personally, I hang around the "What's New" tab and use the activity stream and new posts features when I'm looking to find a topic being actively discussed.
I also no longer see new thanks received in my settings menu, and that is pretty much the only way I review them. Who goes back to old posts to check? And I access site using computer only...
They're on the Like/Thanks tab of your profile http://www.thephins.com/forums/member.php?5002-Lloyd-Heilbrunn&tab=thanks#thanks
