Were you expecting them to replace every hole in this draft? All of this seems dramatic since we're talking about 6th round draft picks that likely won't be on the team in 1-2 years. Nevermind that they addressed almost every position of need except DE with trades and draft picks. Rome wasn't built in a day. As tough as it is to be patient after a decade of mediocrity, I think we need to be patient and give this new regime a chance.
I expected them to focus on the defense early & often(without foolishly trading up). This draft may eventually get a passing grade if people judge it for a general team. But we're talking about our Phins, a team with many questions on defense.
Another draft day thread riddled with people negativity. Im absolutely in love with this years draft. You can never say with certainty the trades were or were not necessary. But you better believe that war room is out and about listening for draft rumors, and if they have to give up a pick or two so be it, you not going to sign every draft pick; youre not going to have all these guys on your team for 4 or more years. You guys act like children when something doenst go your way in the draft lol. Im hyped as ****! So much potential with these picks, just gotta wait and see if they pan out. Also, everyone complaining about lb/cb, you can add kiko and maxwell to this draft. Needs were met, and met hard. Finally we have returner options, legit ones. We have a complete WR core, something we havnt had in decades. We have decent potential for a nice RB committee, and our OLine has been upgraded beyond belief from the end of the season. Do you guys just enjoy being miserable and complain over everything in life? For the first time in years, there was actually a vision for this draft that makes sense, and that excites me. Go phins!
I agree, Lets give Gase a chance, at least give him a better chance than we gave peace... Thank you, thank you, I'll be here all week...
they did focus on defense. They got Maxwell, Alonso and Howard. And they landed possibly one of the most talented players in this years draft.
Maxwell<Grimes Williams<Vernon Alonso only an upgrade if he is the player he was in 2013. Otherwise he is just another mediocre LB on a team filled with mediocre and below average LB's. Howard- Hopefully he will be able to come in and beat out the very average CB's now on the roster opposite a mediocre Maxwell. I realized going into the draft that they certainly couldn't fill all the holes they have on this team in one draft. I just thought they would spend more picks on the defense, because that is where the real needs were once they filled their OL need. As I stated earlier, the offense and kick return units should be exciting to watch. The defense on the otherhand, not so much. Unless you like watching opposing teams score at will on your team.
okay, let me put it this way. Group 1 we have Juice, Parker & Stills. Group 2 we have an injury-prone MLB with absolutely nothing behind him, no clear-cut starter in waiting DE and not one #1 CB on the roster. Honestly tell me which group should they have drafted for?
Thats why im not sure if its out of habbit or what haha. I havnt liked any of our drafts in recent years overall, but this draft Im straight up loving. I cant see how anyone could not like this draft if you actually think about it and look at it with our roster and the way the nfl is played, as well as Gase's offense. I in no way shape or form, imply previous years drafts were great by any means xD
Based on my value of Prescott, Braunecker and Ratelle, I could get a job with the Fin's FO, HUZZAHH! In my resume, I would say; In the 2016 draft, after drafting Tunsil, I would then have traded away all remaining picks to acquire the entire 7th round...
WOOOOO we got Doughty! Dolphin25 and I have been raving about him for months, we love his talent and im glad he will get a chance at a roster spot here with our Dolphins. Best deep ball thrower in the colkege football, ridiculous accuracy.
Colkege football, that's something I've been meaning to check out! Sorry, just feeling goofy... and Minny while I'm at it... heeeyy yaaa, oh oh
Jesus. Check out how many top performer combine stars this guy grabbed: http://www.nfl.com/draft/2016/profiles/thomas-duarte?id=2555483 Athletic at least.
What pick are you talking about? They traded up to get a CB. Also, do you believe a team should reach for a need or draft best player available? Does reaching for a pick at a position of need help this team win or does adding another talented receiver help the team win if opposing teams can't cover all four of them? I think we have to be realistic that this first draft isn't for this year. It's for 2-4 years down the road. What will the makeup of the team look like? Will Stills be on the team? Will they be able to afford Landry? The bottom line is there are many ways to approach this and obviously you disagree with what they are doing. Fine. All of the b**ching and moaning is a little old. The last 10-15 years of this team sucks. I get it. At some point you have to just be optimistic and put your faith in a new regime until they prove you wrong. Unless of course people just enjoy being miserable.
6 on offense 2 on defense unreal. I guess we're gonna have a repeat of last year - aggressively signing UDFAs.
If Gase only wants two quarterbacks on his roster, Matt Moore needs to put his home for sale. Doughty will beat him. A much more live arm and better talent. Gase can do a lot with Doughty
I mean they got 5 likely defensive starters (Maxwell, IAQ, Howard, Alonso and Williams) and people keep saying they didn't address the defense. I'm confused. This draft was heavily influenced by Gase. They are trusting him to get the offense into gear and are giving him plenty of weapons and contributors to get it done. This is obviously not an aimless player grab, but they have a vision, Gase's vision. They are also picking for system fit.
Man, too much of your post requires counter-points. But I will say this. You can choose to be optimistic if you want. Me? I will not give them the benefit of the doubt anymore.
Could some team PLEASE draft Braunschweiger and Ratatouille already, so I can proclaim them the "winners"...
crazy how most of us thought it would be a Defensive draft...and they do the opposite. Should be interesting to see this team in 2/3 yrs. would've wanted Myles as the bruins drafted by Miami but id take Duarte. hopefully a poor mans version of Jordan Reed.
I was in the vast minority, I said they should focus on O to give Tanne the best opportunities to show if he's the guy.
I have no problem with them picking players to fit the Gase offensive system. I expect the offense to be more productive in 2016 and the players selected in this draft should help that improvement. I just don't see any improvement on the defensive side of the ball. The fact they traded for Maxwell and Alonso and signed Willisms doesn't mean the defense is better than last year. I still see this as a 6-10 team in 2016. Yet if they can load up on defense in next years draft and Tannehill can prove he is the QB this team can rely on in the future, the Dolphins should become a legitimate contender for a playoff spot by 2018. With all the holes they still need to fill over the next few years, continued patience is going to be required of Dolphins fans. I don't feel I am being negative. I just think I am being realistic in regards to the overall talent on this team at this time. I think Gase might finally be the head coach to turn this team into a winner. I just don't think it is going to happen in one year considering the overall lack of talent on the roster. Especially on the defensive side of the ball.
