I know another Tannehill thread. I feel this is his last chance so no excuses put up or shutup. We have better coaching, offensive line looks better on paper and weapons look much more dynamic than last. My biggest question mark is the running game. Here is hoping he takes advantage. If not it's time to move on.
Anything added to this will be the same regurgitated crap that has been said over and over again. Everyone knows he has to step up. Do we really need another topic stating this?
Agreed. Added the top prospect on the OL and additional weapons for our offense. I really want to see him make strides with leadership, pocket awareness, footwork and lead this team to a winning record.
You do realize this is a post draft thread in which we added 6 offensive players and one happens to be perhaps the best offensive lineman in the draft? Gase has given him the tools to prove he is a franchise qb.Lets see.
I love how we just drafted a bunch free roaming radicals (humans) yet there is a distinct belief that all of them are known quantities. The FO only provided the opportunity to improve. Only 40% will make it at best, and out of that they all need to stay healthy.
If tunsil alone improves the line that is enough for tannehill to improve even if the new wrs don't pan out.
The unfortunate thing is that Ryan could have one of the best years of any QB in the league, and if the team loses games because of the running game and/or defense, a large segment of the fan base and media will still call for his head. Some people are just black and white on the issue. I think that the issue only dies if Ryan plays really well and the team is in the playoffs.
If we win it proves we're a good team (or we got lucky), if we lose it proves we're a bad team (or we didn't get lucky). There's no magic and simple result to judge a QB by.
will be fairly easy to evaluate in isolation, I hope his perseverance and toughness inspires his teammates to want to play for him, I hope now that he's becoming a dad, his leadership will go to the next level, and I hope he learns how to play the game smarter.
If the team is losing 35-31 games than I ok with this. This draft was to improve the offence and I am sure next year would be defence heavy. I want to see improvement from tannehill on 3rd down and playing better in the 4th quarter. This year is all about the improvement of tannehill as this team is in the first year of rebuilding and I don't expect playoffs.Nobody expects us to win next year and every 2017 mock draft you look at has us in the top 10.
I think he will be much better than last year....but i thought that last year. His surroundings appear to be much improved and he is another year/offseason into the NFL, it is almost impossible for him not to make a jump. Question is, how big of one?
I thought he would last year too. It turns out, Lazor didn't evolve and just kept the shackles on him while doing nothing to counter his crap oline.
A year ago there were nearly identical threads to this one. And the year before that too. Maybe this will really be the last one, lol, but probably not...we'll probably wait around for another 3 hoping he makes the jump.
Except for last year, Thill has improved statistically every year. He did however improve the biggest gripe everyone had which was the deep ball.
People said last year he had no excuses because of improved passing weapons and another year under Lazor, then we saw injuries all along the O-line, passing weapons have a disappointing season with injury, and dropped passes, and Lazor wet the bed. Bottom line, you don't know what you have until you see it play injury free and performing. I want to see other aspects of this team pull their own weight before I say Tannehill has no excuses but his own individual play.
See injuries aren't excuse really as all teams have them. The problem is, Thill wasn't allowed to solve problems and THAT is the issue.
None of those are excuses, they are reasons. When the Team lost the starting LT, RT and C to injury for parts of the season, compounded by the ****ty guard play throughout the season, that's a reason for struggle. Same with poor coaching, handicapping players, drops, injuries to receivers, et al. Not excuses, reasons.
I believe he will shine, along with the entire team this year. one of the reasons is little guy, almost over-looked:http://www.sportingnews.com/nfl/new...fl-draft-texas-tech/u6rkqsz5nqfp1rp3q56074pnx
He can win with the perfect offensive line, Pro Bowl weapons, and a dominating defense that shuts out the other team.
No, he should be able to the first QB in history to win with a ****ty oline, no running game, a ****ty defense and not being able to audible or he sucks.
We won 6 games last year, if Ryan plays really well and we win 8-9 games and don't make the playoffs the season will still be a positive step forward. Gase isn't on a 1 year try and see deal, the front office isn't going to panic if we don't make the playoffs and clean house. The fans who hate Ryan will harp on us not making the playoffs if we don't but the ones that understand this is a process will give it some time. Me, I'm just looking for positive movement for Ryan and the team, I think we still need another offseason and draft to get this team built for a serious run at anything. If we win 10 games and make the playoffs I'd say we were over achieving.
Yes, but more than that, hopefully Gase is who we hope is. If so, then it will be ok if the line sucks because he won't cut Thill off at the knees by taking away all the tools needed to deal with a bad oline.
I'm optimistic. I'm looking forward to everything. For the first time in a long time I feel the Dolphins WRs are competitive with the rest of the NFL and that the O-line has a chance to actually be solid. I don't see anything outstanding at Guard but if Tunsil fills in at LG and we don't start Dallas Thomas at RG, I think things will really improve. It sucks to lose Miller but I think Ajayi can be very good and the addition of Drake provides something. Miami isn't a running team anyhow, not with Tannehill and the weapons outside. As far as TE, I'll continue to say what I said last year. The TE position should be a huge point of strength. I think that under Gase it may actually turn out to be true.
Ajayi brings a different element to the running game. We had it with Moreno for one fine day. Finishing games pounding the rock ! With Kenyan Drake I think we may have gotten even more potential for big plays than Miller, but in the right role. We'll see a multi-faceted rushing attack with both used out of the backfield in the passing game more often than Miller. I believe Landry will be used downfield more. Pencil Parker in for 800/6TD minimum, with Carroo and Grant making us forget about Matthews in due time. Stills has easily made the deep connection Wallace never did..... It's not even that Dallas is that bad a guard. The difference is that we have Tunsil and Bushrod ahead of him, ready to slide outside in case of injuries. We missed C.Clay a bit last season, and I hope the plan is to utilize these big TEs in ways we never could even with Clay. The ills that plagued the offense are being cured with Ireland and now Philbin gone from the picture. 3 solid, offense-heavy drafts under our belt now. We've come a long way from Martin,Richie,RTx,Hartline,Clay, miller, wallace ; all under philbin. That's what Tannehill was working with !?! Wow. All signs point to less sacks, a more dependable short yardage running game, and more TD passes. This is Suh's defense now and hopefully Wake & Alonso are healthy. With all the silly unhealthy hype we garnered last season...Just wait until we come out with this new attitude and win our two toughest tests of the season in weeks 1&2. Tannehill's *TIME* to shine.
He will always have certain fan boys making excuses for him regardless. Tannehill is what he is most likely. Slim chance he all of a sudden becomes a stud. That doesn't mean he can't have a career year and be better than average for a year. In the long run though I think he's going to continue to be a mediocre starting QB.
Doubtful. If thill plays really well and the team still loses, most fans will realize it's not the qbs fault and will be happy with thill. Thrills performance has been on par with the teams performance to this date. Mediocre at best. Wins and losses as with most teams seems to be even more correlated with how thill plays.
