Big match for us today. Gotta keep that champions league qualification alive!! (Whoops forgot to submit my post) Sturridge has scored and its 1-0 and 1-1 aggregate. Lallana just barely missed wide to make it 2-0. Our boys are playing aggressive and to get to the final!!

Totally agree, what a second half!! Best COMPLETE match they've played since we beat City back in Nov 15. Also you left Sturridge out of that list, he was by far my man of the match!! Had a hand in all three goals tonight!! Sevilla is gonna be a tough opponent (third Europa final in a row), and we don't have a second leg to make up for a defeat. One game for the glory, trophy and a ticket into the Champions league next year.

Great team effort yesterday, hard to single out guys because as a collective everyone played so well. Toure was a bit nervy for me at the back... Lovren seemed to save his bacon a few times with some crucial blocks. That's nitpicking just one guy. How do we get the whole of Anfield to Basel? Klopp and the Kopp... what a difference from the beginning of the season. Firmino, Sturridge in the final third, Milner and Lallana's work rates off the ball. Quality.

Starting X! for the Europa Cup final and a ticket to the Champions League next season?

    Sturridge
    Firmino
    Lallana
    Coutinho
    Milner
    Can
    Moreno
    *Lucas
    Lovren
    Clyne
    Mignolet

*obviously not ideal, but I'm not sure Toure would be a safer bet. Maybe go Skrtel if he's ready though. We'll see how he does the last two games of the league this week. It's a very attack minded starting 11. Joe Allen has had a renaissance as of late. Maybe start him next to Can.. But then who are you going to sit out of Firmino and Lallana? Both players are really in form and have earned the start IMO. That doesn't leave much on the bench either. Allen, Benteke, Ojo?? Ibe?? Flanagan, Toure... hearing Ings might be on his way back... same with Henderson... possibly Origi... so that would change things.

Mother ****ing DVR recorded the game that NBC SN said would be on... supposed to be LFC vs Chelsea. They instead switched last second to Sunderland. Mother ****ing bull ****. oh well, guess I didn't miss much. 1-1 draw in the end by Benteke. Strong 11 though. All except Toure who no doubt played like ****.

Nervous... very nervous. I'll be working so will have to watch it on the dvr. The weak link is our CB opposite Lovren. For some reason, Klopp seems to prefer Toure over Skrtel. Since the injury though, Skrtel has been off. I'm guessing he won't be back next season. Good news is that the offense should be firing on all cylinders. Might be another shootout. Should be a great game.

ugh... crap second half. Horrid refereeing in the first half (two hand balls that should have been penalties). But that second half... just not good enough. Some players ran out of steam. Coutinho has looked off since he came back from his injury frankly. I think the mass of games this season took their toll. The most games played by any club in England. Other than the refs being fixed for Sevilla. Pretty sure Moreno is a secret agent (not so secret) for his former club. I mean the first goal is inexcusable. Getting nutmegged like that. Then he can't find the ball that is coming right to him off Coutinho and it gets behind him for their second (or was it the third). Lots of work to do next season. This team isn't good enough to compete in the CL anyway. Not currently. :pity:

Yea totally gutted after that loss. They played pretty good football the first half, I don't know how we didn't get at least one penalty on all those handballs. Could have been a totally different match in we went in 2-0 or 3-0. Considering how they played in the first half, it should have been at least 2-0 at the half. Second half was just a different team out there, Coutinho never should up for the entire match, Lallana disappeared in the second. Not winning the tournament sucked, and hope the prospects of pulling in big names with no champions league doesn't hurt us. I'm really excited for this team and its prospects next year, if we don't challenge for the title I'll consider it a bad season, since we won't have to many distractions besides domestic cup comps.

Yeah, if we don't get top 4 next season, it'll be a huge disappointment. You'd have to think that Leicester comes back to the pack. Man C, probably Man U, will have new managers. Arsenal aren't exactly a lock these days. Tottenham... oddly, probably the one that's a lock to make the top 4. young, talented.

On the surface, finishing 8th in the BPL is very disappointing. However, two cup finals in the same season is something that should be encouraging. We've got some young up and coming players, and with Klopp, this summer's transfer window will be very interesting and exciting. Here's how I think the current roster plays out:

    Expiring Contracts:
CB Kolo Toure - I'd doubt JK brings him back
CB Steven Caulker - brought in to fill a crisis of CB openings due to injury. Ended up getting hurt himself. Hard to say if he's in the plans moving forward. I'd guess no.
MF Joao Carlos Teixeira - wouldn't expect him to be back. Didn't get any time with younger MF's around him (Brannagan etc) being preferred by JK later in the season.

    GK:
Simon Mignolet - I believe his contract was extended recently. He'll continue to be the #1. But I suspect Klopp will want a more dependable #2 to push him.
Danny Ward - I actually liked what I saw of him in the limited reps he had. Has a confidence that you like.
Adam Bogdan - what a struggle this season was for him. Definitely Out.

    Def:
Should be safe: Clyne, Lovren, Gomez, Sakho, Flanagan, Smith
    Questionable: Moreno, Ilori, Randall, McLaughlin
Out: Enrique, Skrtel. Was always a big fan of Martin's but for some reason JK has kept him on the bench. Whether that be injury or not, I don't know.

    MF:
This is where it gets hard.
Safe: Coutinho, Henderson, Can, Ojo, Brannagan
Questionable: Milner, Lallana, Allen, Ibe, Lucas, Kent, Dunn, Stewart,
Out: Rossiter (I've heard he's already out), Chirivella
*note: probably surprised by Lallana and Milner being on the list as questionable. But I suspect this is the position on the roster where we see the most turnover.

    F:
Safe: Origi, Ings These strikers strike me as type of players that Klopp loves.
Questionable: Sturridge. Much will depend on the market for him I think. This is a player that is well liked by the fans. If JK and the brass upstairs decide to move on, the transfer money has to be worth it. Firmino. Doesn't strike me as the type of player JK likes. And I don't think he's right for the BPL frankly. he's very gifted. No denying that. Hard to say. Hence... questionable. Sinclair. Haven't seen enough of him, but I believe he was just given a new contract (?).
Out: Benteke. You have to think he's not long for this team under Klopp. Preferred by Origi / Sturridge and even Firmino as a lone forward. That should be Benteke's role on this team. It wasn't under Klopp and I think he'll be looking to sell.

There are quite a few players listed on the team site that were out on loan last season. I frankly don't know enough about most of them to comment We know Marko Grujic was signed last window but the loaned back to his original team. So he'll be safe and he's only 20 years old. Expect him to be with the first team this summer. I'd doubt Balotelli is back  Couple of other guys I know that should be considered, Wisdom and Markovic.

Honestly I don't follow the team news that closely to know all of the above with any degree of certainty. These are just guesses. You have to think Klopp will be bringing in at least a half dozen "high profile" players to the mix.

LFC have signed Mainz GK Loris Karius (22). Probably should have seen that one coming with the whole Klopp/Mainz connection. He's going to wear #1 and apparently push Mignolet for the #1 spot. "Only" a 4.7m pound transfer fee.

He joins CB/MF Joel Matip (I hadn't included him earlier) and MF Marko Grujic as Klopp acquisitions (they were obtained back in the winter window).

In terms of notoriety, it's probably Karius (the 2nd best German GK behind Neuer?), Grujic (lots of interested teams) then Matip (on a free transfer).

Been a lot of rumblings about Gotze joining, but Imma skeptical.

I think that ship has sailed. He changed agents this past week, and has verbally said he wants to stay at Bayern even though Ancelotti told him he wasn't going to get hardly any minutes the upcoming season. BM has been trying to push him out the door so they get something for him in the transfer window, but I really think he is going to stay with them next year and ride the pine. If anything unless he has a great Euro 2016 he leaves next year on a free transfer and BM get nothing.

If I listed every player that LFC is linked to, this would be a long thread  but this one popped up during the week with not only the tabloids but also the local guys there in Liverpool.

    Another Southampton product, Sadio Mane.

Alrighty then. I just got tickets to the Liverpool v Chelsea game here in LA at the Rose Bowl. Very excited. Should be able to get some great pics (first row down on the field level). It's on Wednesday the 27th. I know it's a friendly or whatever but I'm only going to get so many opportunities to see them play in my lifetime (never seen them play before). Hope they don't hold out too many of the big names.

JK has been rotating teams at the half so far this preseason. Been monitoring all the feeds on twitter. This Marko Grujic looks like a very exciting player. Hoping he turns out better than the last Serbian we acquired (Lazar Markovic). Don't have a full roster yet as far as who is here and who isn't. Although I know the England team members that were given time off as well as the Belgium guys have traveled here. I suspect that JK will slowly work them in. But I am expecting to see Grujic and Coutinho for sure. Mane will be involved as well.

Been a while since I posted here so a lot has happened since the end of last season. We've even got a couple of academy players doing extremely well at the senior level this preseason. Namely 16 year old product, Ben Woodburn. He's 16, but he's already making a case for senior ball into the season. This is a critical trip for him. Scored a couple of goals already vs lower tiered teams. Can he sustain on this trip vs top quality? If he does, I don't see how you can deny him his spot.

Anyway here's a bit of a rundown in terms of adds and subtractions thus far:

In - Sadio Mane. The most expensive African player in history. 34m pounds. he's got great pace and skill. You're going to see him out wide as a wing but I don't think he's limited to that. He can finish thru the middle. Gives JK some great options in formation (this is going to be a recurring theme with these new signings)

In - Marko Grujic. I'll add him to the list even though Klopp brought him in back in January of last season. He was immediately loaned back to his former side for the duration of their league's games and helped them (Red Star Belgrade) go undefeated. He looks to be a major bargain at the moment because he's scored every game he's played in so far this preseason... he's six foot three as well. He's going to be a presence in the midfield. Really something we lacked last season.

In - Georginio Wijnaldum. Comes over from Newcastle for 25m pounds. The Dutchman failed to live up to expectations at Newcastle falling out of favor there with former LFC manager Rafa Benitez. I would classify him as an attacking midfielder who can also play out wide. Decent speed. I can recall watching the LFC v Newcastle match last season and he didn't start. They brought him on in the second half and immediately changed the game. He's a good player IF your coach can get the most out of him. Keep him motivated. I don't think that will be a problem under JK.

In - Loris Karius. Expected to compete for first team chances with incumbent GK Mignolet.

In - Ragnar Klavan. 30 years old if memory serves. Going to compete for time at center back. I still think we need to add to our defense, left back and another center back.

In - Joel Matip. Another center back who arrives on a free transfer.

Out - Brad Smith. This just went down today. 6m pounds in from Bournemouth. Mixed reactions on this. I thought Smith was coming along nicely last year. But is he really going to be a first team left back for you? Probably not.

Out - Jordan Ibe. Also going to Bournemouth. a 15m pound club record fee for them. Great deal for us. And I think he gets to go somewhere we he can grow and play a lot. Good deal for him.

Out - Martin Skrtel. Not surprising. He'd really fallen out of favor. I always thought he was solid prior to JK joining. He was 31.

There have been other ins and outs as well. I won't go thru the full list. Kolo Toure is gone. Worth mentioning. Plenty of outs still to come... including Lucas, Joe Allen, Benteke probably, Alberto Moreno??, Jon Flanagan on a loan? Mario Balotelli if we can find a chinese club desperate enough to do it.

That was some game earlier today. Not in my wildest dreams did I expect us to go up 4-1 on the road at the Emirates. Where to begin?

Mane looks better than I expected and it's early. What a goal by him today. But that was just the cherry on top of the sundae. He is so damn strong on the ball it's silly. And his speed is epic. The finishing touch completes the package. And he seems like a pretty humble guy (so far anyway), making sure Coutinho was okay after the game (supposedly just a cramp).

Got a little nervy there at the end didn't it?

Mignolet had a decent game, stopping the pen (didn't look a pen BTW). He also seemed to control his box with some mighty punches of the ball out of his six.

I was watching the first half thinking Coutinho doesn't appear to be himself.. and then one moment of sheer brilliance on the FK and he's back to his old self. Setting up Wijnaldum on the second goal, in space, that pass was a thing of beauty, perfectly weighted. GW then sets up Lallana for the go ahead goal, nice control and finish as the angle looked to be closing.

The third... what a passage of play that was... I think over 2 minutes of passing in the Arsenal half.. then capped off with a brilliant cross by Clyne (he has to hit one of those every 10 crosses now doesn't he?)... driven in for Coutinho to shinny shinny home and it's 3-1.

The fourth was IMO the best of the four... better than Coutinho's FK (because that's almost expected at this stage). But Mane's powerful run down the right, cuts in, and then drills it with his supposed off foot (left). What a strike!!

Close at the end with a fluky goal to draw back 4-2 and then the FK header by Chambers (who looked offside to me). Still closing it out with about 15 minutes left... nice control of the match.

One last note... got to find an upgrade over Moreno... my goodness is he erratic. I wouldn't say he's our Dallas Thomas because at times Moreno can give you some offensive quality. But he's a definite liability on the defensive end, rash challenges and getting out of position way too much to be depended on at a high level.

Woeful. The struggles vs bottom half teams continues. Counter exposed. Poor game in the final third. Perfect storm. Game is of course much different if u score first. No need to panic. But top four teams find ways to come from behind there. Ex Chelsea today.

I think the difference between yesterday and Saturday is no Manè against Burnley (almost we were so careless with the ball on Saturday as well). I was skeptical about the Manè signing, but when he is on the field he makes everyone better. He could end up being the most important player on the field for us. Let's pray he doesn't get hurt, because I don't think we make top 4 or challenge for the title without him playing in nearly every game.

That was a nice win in front of the new main stand yesterday. Solid solid solid effort all around against the defending league champs. Surprised to see how many chances we created without Coutinho in the lineup. It's a bit encouraging actually. Thought for sure things would go down after the Lucas howler. I can laugh at that now. Good thing. Mane looks to be the best player we've had come in and contribute straight away since that number 7 guy.

Bloody brilliant signing for us. Picked him up in my Fantasy team and he has done me well, really missed his speed in the Burnley game but he was all over the pitch yesterday. Great signing for later this season in FA Cup and Capital Cup etc and then next year with CL. :) It allows us to rotate in Coutinho and Firmino in the mid field nicely so they can rest and partner up with Sturridge. But he is going to be needed more than not though.

That Lucas howler cost me a couple points in my FFL ha ha, I was screaming at the TV when that happened. Thankfully it didn't matter as Lallana's goal was a thing of beauty, and then Firmino to top it off.

Loved the fact that Chelsea was nutted after the non call on the foul on Cahill which resulted in the go ahead goal lol! Shame they salvaged a point though!

Great win away again for us!!! Great to keep the momentum going!! Gonna watch the match again later because I didn't get to follow it as closely as I would have like because I was at work. Two wins and a draw against the top 3 last year, 2 of them away is a great way to start the season. Keep up the great work boys!!

Bloody ****ing Brilliant Win Today Boys! I had it on the DVR and had to wait till I got home from work (Friday games blech). Where do you start? Lovren did very well for a centre back to get that one timer on goal.. and yes Cahill messed up on his zonal marking there. Us English fans know all about him don't we? What a strike from Henderson. Just when I was starting to doubt the local product... Nobody could have saved that beauty of a shot. Second half got tight after they got their goal. Nervy moments for sure.

That first half though... my goodness... some of the best football I've seen under Klopp. Lallana has really grown into a fantastic two way player. His work rate off the ball is infectious. I'm really enjoying eating crow on him. Have to credit Klopp for his turnaround. Coutinho seems to have been infected that way on the defensive side. We had Mane dropping back and helping out Clyne with their games with Azpilicueta and Hazard. And Milner, yeah he dives in with his right foot too much at times (as a left back) but he doesn't stop running.... ever... Matip and Lovren seem to be pairing up nicely. Haven't even seen Can yet this season. This lighter schedule is really working wonders for our freshness.

One negative today appears to have been Sturridge going out early with some form of injury. With Mane doing his thing and Firmino probably coming back soon, I don't think we need Sturridge at the moment. Would like to see a little more from Origi when he gets his opportunities. That should have been a goal today, I don't care what kind of save Courtois makes.

Top 4 seems to be a real possibility this year!

Derby County on Tuesday and the League Cup... I don't think the game is on anywhere here in the US. So I'll just follow the local guys on twitter I guess.

Oh one thing I meant to say... you know when Chelsea looked like they were going to tie it up, down 1-2... and they have all the momentum. Suddenly LFC retakes control of the game... they had a spell of possession in the late 70's minute mark that was sublime. Think they kept the ball for what seemed like 5 minutes, it was probably just 2... but still. Really cooled Chelsea's mo and I was pretty confident heading into the final stages... Wijnaldum had a great game.

I noticed that to!! Normally it would have been a very tense last 30 minutes, but instead of panicking that Chelsea just scored and had all the momentum they went out and held possession really until the end of the game. That is something we haven't' done much of, you don't need a great back 4 if you can hold the ball and kill another clubs momentum. The best goal scoring chance after Chelsea scored was Orgi header, they did get that free kick at the edge of the box, but I was nervous just because its much easier to score from there, but knew they would hold on.

Fun times watching this team this season. Not only do they have the possession but the quality scoring opportunities to go with it now. Mane really loosens everything up. He's like a laxative  Lallana is really growing into a special player under Klopp. And JK can do no wrong at the moment.

I'm coaching my son's U12 soccer team this season... everything I do I model after Jurgen Klopp. Except for hugging the kids because that's not allowed.

Could be a season making win there on the road today coming back from 0-1 to salvage three points. Little lethargic to start the game. Got better as the first half went on and then dominated the second half. Lovren was shaky at times and so was Lorius... but other than that, it was very very good. Thought Milner and Coutinho especially out of midfield to attack were brilliant on the ball.

Suspect Lallana might be down for a while, which is a shame because he'd really been coming on. Didn't miss him today but that's because it's Swansea and it was all one way action there at the end. But in a tight fight for possession game, we're going to miss his energy. Also feel Sturridge is a bit off script at times, a bit frustrating for him when he's not getting the ball deep. TV always shows them in a 4-3-3 with the lineup, but I think it's more a 4-2-3-1 or even a 4-1-4-1.

They started out flat just like the Burnley match, but the difference is that they started to build up their play towards the end of the first half. Gritty win like you said Paul, on the road down a goal but nothing much was going for Liverpool. Then they slowly let the game come to them, luckily we didn't concede more goals to make it easier to come back. Overall very happy that they worked until things started clicking for them. I was surprised to see Lovern start over Ragnar (I love using his first name haha). Him and Matip seemed to not be on same page for first 20 or so minutes.

About Sturridge, I noticed he was frustrated by lack of service sometimes, and I chalk it down more to him actually working harder for the team and not getting a few good balls his way. I very happy for the international break since Lallana and Lovern picked up knocks and they should be able to be back on the pitch before the United match.

mixed bag... friggin De Gea always kills us. To me, he's the best goalie in the world. That save on Coutinho was super human.

Yup, we got DeGea'd again... That ****er has won or tied the game for Manure the last several our Premier League games against them. I wish LVG had sent him to the continent off like he had threatened. However, we should have won, we got a rare point against Man U, we really held up well in defense, especially the first 15-20 minutes when they were all over us.

I have started Coutinho as my captain this weekend as I think he is due, that shot that DeGea saved was sublime and he has scored a couple of those this year. I prefer Premier League Fantasy Football to American Football fantasy now.

Big win today... got a little tight there at the end. But I'll take the 3 points any day. Temporarily tied for first, although 2nd on differential. Suspect we'll be third after Man ****ty wins tomorrow.

Good win again, they could have easily scored 5 or 6 goals. Luckily it didn't come back to haunt us, but WBA sure did make it interesting. I watched the Spurs match yesterday and they looked good as well, even though the squad was filled with back ups and players working back to match fitness besides Sturridge. It really got me excited to see that we are building more depth for the future.

On a side note, is anyone else think we should to move on from Sturridge. I still think he's a hell of striker, deep down I don't really want to see he go. Though I've noticed that the first team plays so much better together, when Sturridge doesn't start. He's had some good games this year, but to me he's either on or off, doesn't seem to be much middle ground. I really hope Klopp can get it through him to improve his work rate and frustration on the pitch!!

yeah I missed the game vs TOT this week (league cup game)... heard it was a good one for Sturridge (I followed it on Twitter). I have Directv and the game was on BEIN, which is part of their sports package... I don't like spending the extra $14.99 per month just for that. Although, quarter finals... I might have to. Looks like we got a good draw for the QF vs Leeds. The other matches... Man U vs West Ham. Arse vs Southampton. Hull vs Newcastle

I use this https://www.reddit.com/r/soccerstreams/ to get streams of games that aren't on Directv. The mods are extremely on the ball in removing bad streams, links with malicious ads. I've had really good luck getting to watch matches with out worrying about getting a virus from doing so. They keep the sub clutter free and remove streams after the match is over.
